Take me back to the other hotel!!!
Advantages: All-inclusive, clean
Disadvantages: Awful food, very poor pool
...On a girls holiday to Malta in the summer, we booked this hotel as part of a package deal. Unfortunately (or fortunately as it turned out!) when we arrived we were told that they had overbooked the hotel and that we were being moved to the Dolmen Hotel (see review) for the first four nights of our 7 night holiday. We were annoyed as we didn't know what the Dolmen was going to be like (excellent as it turned out).
LOCATION:
The hotel's address is: Qawra Coast Road, Qawra St. Paul's Bay SPB 1908, Malta.
It is located in Qawra, which is close to Bugibba (a much more lively town.) It is within walking distance of Bugibba town centre but it was a bit of a trek. The name, 'Bella Vista' is certainly somewhat misleading! I think you could see the sea from a couple of places in the hotel but most of what we could see consisted...

"Our-ra Hotel-a Review-a"
Advantages: In Malta, a hot country where I tanned deeply on the first day
Disadvantages: Read down. There's lots....
...When I was a 19 year old holiday rep, I spent several months living in an All Inclusive hotel on a Spanish Isle. It was my first taste of such a set up, but I was impressed enough to suggest that we stay in an AI hotel this Easter ? my last holiday as a student. We decided on Malta because it was somewhere we?d never been, and close enough to Italy to get good weather at this time of year. Ringing round at Christmas is became apparent that several hotels were booked out, but swapping our dates and jiggling hotel names, we managed to find room at this hotel.
Situated on the sea front in Qawra (?our ? ra?), the hotel lives up to its name from a distance ? large and palatial like, and the second largest in the resort (though being next to the largest one does make it pretty obvious that this one aint the biggest). Every guest we saw was...

D' old men and old women hotel!
Advantages: Situated near the promenade overlooking St Paul's Bay and Islands
Disadvantages: Bedrooms not as luxurious as reception. More fresh fruit needed.
...Malta is a beautiful Mediterranean island and I have stayed at several of the many hotels there.
Our most recent holiday started with an offer we found through our Timeshare Group and was to stay in the Resort apartments at the Dolmen Resort Hotel, naturally we did some homework and discovered we could stay HB at the same hotel for much less than our apartment deal and airfares, and we would have still needed food! So we booked and a few weeks later we left snowy Scotland for the Maltese sunshine.
Situated in Qawra, or at least on the outskirts! This hotel is separated from the sea by a road, but there is a tunnel underneath for easy access. The views from the hotel are lovely as it overlooks St Paul's Bay and Islands. The promenade is just across the road and is well used and with many benches is a popular place to sit and enjoy...

A good all-inclusive hotel in an excellent location
Advantages: Outstanding food, good rooms and good service
Disadvantages: Lift doors can hurt, pizzas are poor, no room service and a timeshare rotwieller
...My wife and I booked a week through Spa Travel advertised in a Marks & Spencer catalogue; we met in Malta 40 years ago while I was serving with the RAF on the Island. The week's all inclusive stay in the Fortina Spa Resort (5* opened in 2006) and included Club Class return travel with either BA or Air Malta, with Malta transfers and a 2 hour harbour cruise, at a cost of £900 each. Air Malta (Heathrow Terminal 4) provided an outstanding service on both outbound and return sectors - far better than BA! We booked a superior harbour view room and were allocated one on the tower's 4th floor facing Pieta and Marsamxett harbours facing South West with fantastic views of North facing Valetta and sunsets over Rabat. The rooms are well appointed and clean with a queen size bed, lots of wardrobe space, big bathrooms with separate bath and shower...

Malta - a thorough review by IzzyS
Advantages: Plenty of sights to see, some great views, no language problems
Disadvantages: The driving by locals, it probably gets a bit too humid and hot by August
...- Introduction -
This summer (2008) I went abroad on a summer holiday with my parents to the island of Malta and I have to say, it was definitely one of the better holidays ive had. I had never been there before and so I was quite eager to see the sights. We went for two weeks from late June (24th) to early July (8th) and I left feeling that there was still plenty left to see, that we didn't manage to fit in the two weeks we were there, so I would start off by saying that there is more than enough to see in a couple of weeks.
I hope to use this review to give you an insight into the island of Malta, some of the places you can visit (or more, that we visited) and some useful/interesting information about the island. I hope you find this a useful review. I thought during one of the last days there that I wanted to do a proper review...

Bella Vista Hotel , Our family holiday
Advantages: accommodating for large families, indoor pool nice and quiet, modern
Disadvantages: right on a main busy road, not many amenities close-by like small shop etc
...October 2006
My parents decided they'd like a family holiday and had been to the hotel several times and liked it there, so all eleven of us, my parents, my sisters family and us 3 filed off the plane to be greeted by our minibus driver to take us to the hotel and for october some fantastic sunshine.
He was friendly and definately not like most drivers in malta he actually drove at a very reasonable speed instead of like an F1 driver.
Our hotel is situated in qawra on the outskirts of bugibba, unfortunaley on a main busy road and not very close to many amenities within a few minutes walking distance. However if you don't mind a little stroll of about 15-20 minutes there is central bugibba and qawra to visit where your find everything you need.
There's many attractions on the island where you can book excursions through...

Malta you alta visit
Advantages: Easy to get to, lots to see and do
Disadvantages: wasn't as warm as I thought it might be in February
...go practically everywhere. The cost varies between ?0.35 to ?0.58 and even the longest bus journey only takes about fifty minutes; the average ride is between twenty and thirty minutes.
There is a ferry which takes cars and foot passengers from Malta to Gozo which runs regularly every day. We picked up a timetable from the tourist information at our hotel. It only takes 20 minutes each way and is a very picturesque journey passing Comino on the way. I think we paid about £12 for our car and four passengers
Here is a link for prices and times of these ferries: http://www.holiday-malta.com/resort/gozo/ferry/ferryrates.htm

A week in Malta
Advantages: Not too far
Disadvantages: not seen any
...inhabitants difficult to buy a house.
Sliema, St. Julian's and Paceville, are the largest and most modern resort in Malta - which includes a large residential area. There is plenty to do here- boat excursions, swimming, walks. Sliema has a 3 km long sea front with a lovely path and is the busiest spot on the island.
Sliema is a busy town full of shops like The Plaza Shopping Centre (Malta's largest), restaurants, cafes, the largest group of hotels in Malta, a number of night-spots, including the Casino- Dragonara, popular beaches and beach clubs with water sports facilities. This has most of the shops which you find in the high streets of UK. It has lots of holiday apartments, and appears thriving all year round.
St Juliens' was originally a tiny fishing village, built round a small bay. It has retained most of its charm, due to...

** My First Time! **
Advantages: Close to the sea and bus terminals, friendly staff, lovely rooftop, clean rooms.
Disadvantages: Slightly old fashioned, on top of a hill, not many facilities in the hotel.
...** Introduction **
A few months ago I had one of the best experiences of my life. I went on holiday to Malta! So what? A lot of people might say. Well the 'So what?' is that it was my first holiday abroad. (Gasp!) Yes, it was the first time on a plane and the first time in real sunshine! It took 23 years, but I got there! I don't know what took me so long now I think about it. The fact my parents have never been abroad is probably a big factor, but at the same time it gave me the inspiration to want to experience new things. Now I most definitely have the travel bug! I travelled in early August last year (2008) but I must say, considering we were novices, the hotel we picked wasn't bad at all. Here is my review of the Il Palazzin Hotel, Malta.
I have also added pictures so you can have a look for yourself!

Kennedy Nova Hotel, Malta.
Advantages: Right on the sea front
Disadvantages: None
...a personal touch and were very friendly.
We would certainly returm to this hotel if we ever come back to Malta.
The resort of Sliema is a harbour (no beach) & has a large shopping area with great shops (including M&S)
If you want more just jump on to a very reliable bus service every few minutes which cost only pennies to Valetta (Even bigger shops) Sliema has many bars and was a good starting point for excursions. We would recommend going between June and Aug if you want guaranteed sun. Overall a great holiday made even more special by the hotel....
