...When I saw MammaMia! advertising on the television a couple of weeks back , I instantly knew it was going to be a film I loved. I went to see the film a few days after it's release at my local cineworld. I was glad I hadn't chosen to go on the day of it's release , as my cousin who had gone to see it a day after it's release said that there were so many people wanting to see it that they couldn't let everyone in. I had planned on going to see this film , however usually when I want to see a film I think 'yeah I'll go and see that' however I never actually get round to it , and wait until it comes out on DVD . Although this time I was determined that I was going to go and see the film , even more so when my cousin told me it was fantastic.

Review of Mammamia
Advantages: A film that is suitable for young and old alike, that everyone can sing along to! Disadvantages: The main plot device may need a bit of explaining to younger children.
...MammaMia - Take a chance on me!!
After all this is now the most successful UK film (overtaking Titanic) and the fastest selling DVD. I was lucky enough to see this musical on Broadway in New York, soon after it opened and really enjoyed it. I could not visualise how it would transfer to the screen - but I have to admit they have done a fantastic job (mostly) with near perfect casting (almost). A WORD OF WARNING - the film is rated PG with a warning for special care for children under five and I found this warning needed to be observed. After all, how do you explain to an eight year old that a girl and her mother may not know who her father is (from a choice of three). This point needs thought before you watch it for those tricky questions!!!

...After going to see this film at the cinema twice I decided that I wanted it for christmas on dvd so I was over the moon when I got it.
It is about a girl (Amanda Seyfried) who is getting married. She has never really known who her father is and after discovering her Mum's old diary invites three possible fathers to her wedding, without her mum (Meryl Streep) knowing. Her mum soon finds out though and it then follows the tale of her trying to find out which of the three is her father.
What I like about the film MammaMia is that it is fun packed full of singing and dancing and the cast are fantastic and there seems to be really good chemistry between them. Julie Walters is quite funny in it and Meryl Streep is quite good with the singing and all the cast play their roles really well. The only downside has to be Pierce Brosnan...

...My 6 year old son had been obsessed by the Abba track 'MammaMia' for what seemed an age - so when I saw the dvd of the movie on the shelves at good old Home Bargains for £5, I thought it had to be a good buy.
The special edition box set included a journal, pen, dvd - with a sing a long option, extra footage, commentary and deleted scenes etc.
The deciding factor was the singing box, press a button on the front and MammaMia blasts out for approx 15 seconds. Sold!
Three months after Christmas and we eventually sat down to watch it.

Advantages: A brilliant summer happy feel movie thats great fun. Disadvantages: Can seem chaotic
...I wasn't sure what to expect from this film usually when there is a lot of hype over a film you find yourself disappointed but this was certainly not the case with MammaMia.
Meryl Streep was brilliant in this although she can not pass for a trained singer it didn't matter. It just really worked in the movie as she was meant to be acting the part of a mother who everyone felt sorry for stuck in a hotel that was falling apart with things not going quite right for her, I just think the non perfect singing fitted her character well. Plus the singing from the potential fathers of Sophie will certainly give you a giggle.

Finally I've seen the film and afterwards I was jumping with energy the movie boasted me with, so I couldn't not start writing this review.
I can't tell about elsewhere, but here in Prague MammaMia! has become a symbol of this summer, full of fun, dancing and singing, love, sun, friends, joy and happy ends. It was my first time that sitting in the cinema I would feel all the ppl there shared sth and created such a happy and cheerful atmosphere like this time when everybody sang along to the songs.

...A few nights ago we watched MammaMia on DVD, we initially saw it in the cinema soon after its release.
The plot of the film is simple, like many good films. Sophie, a normal 20 year old girl (played by the until now unknown Amanda Seyfried) lives with her Mum, Donna (Meryl Streep) on a beautiful Greek island where they are trying to convert their house into a small hotel / B&B. Sophie is about to get married to Sky (Dominic Cooper) and would love her father to be there but the snag is that her Mother isn?t sure who that is.
Sophie finds her Mums diary and finds that it could be one of three men ? Advantages: Bright, loud and alot of fun Disadvantages: Musical purists will not be impressed.

Also present for the big day are friends from Donna's diva days as a young woman, tall re-upholstered Tanya (Christine Baranski) and pocket sized Rosie (Julie Walters), one newly single and both on prowl for eligible men. 'MammaMia' is pretty light on plot as you'd expect - the dialogue sequences are simply preambles between musical numbers. Some of the older woman have dalliances with the older men, Sophie has rewarding experiences with all her 'fathers' and all the characters have a fine old sing and dance. There is a wedding, but not for who you expect?
WHAT I THINK:

...?s OK because we?re all into different types of films however I think we need to remember that this film is a fun romp and whether you?re a fan of ABBA or not - it doesn't matter because this film is very tongue in cheek and unlike some people this film doesn?t take itself too seriously.
MammaMia will leave you with a smile on your face because it's a great "feel-good" movie that is suitable for all age ranges ? my teenage daughter and her friends love this film as does my octogenarian grandmother. Go on be a devil whether you?re a film buff or not ..... take the chance and check this movie out I?m pretty sure there will be at least one person in your family that will enjoy this film....

Advantages: Funny, Entertaining Disadvantages: Probably not for your typical bloke
...I watched this film last night. This film is not based on the life story of Abba in anyway. The film has been created around Abba's music, and the storyline is designed to have their songs drop in at 'relevant moments' in the plot (clever marketing ???). If you are expecting a musical film with a polished performance to the standard of Evita you will be disapointed, most of the central caste in MammaMia are normally actors not singers or dancers.
There is definite commical value in this film, the directors have thrown the best actors and scenery that money can buy to create a beautiful movie set in a Greek Island, unfortunately none of the actors (in my opinion) can sing that well, which makes the impromptu song and dance routines in this movie hilarious, and it is an opportunity for you to see some of your favourite actors...
