...After going to see this film at the cinema twice I decided that I wanted it for christmas on dvd so I was over the moon when I got it. It is about a girl (Amanda Seyfried) who is getting married. She has never really known who her father is and after discovering her Mum's old diary invites three possible fathers to her wedding, without her mum (Meryl Streep) knowing. Her mum soon finds out though and it then follows the tale of her trying to find out which of the three is her father. What I like about the film Mamma Mia is that it is fun packed full of singing and dancing and the cast are fantastic and there seems to be really good chemistry between them. Julie Walters is quite funny in it and Meryl Streep is quite good with the singing and all the cast play their roles really well. The only downside has to be Pierce Brosnan...

MAMMA MIA! TAKE A CHANCE ON ME!

Advantages: A film that is suitable for young and old alike, that everyone can sing along to!
Disadvantages: The main plot device may need a bit of explaining to younger children.

...Mamma Mia - Take a chance on me!! After all this is now the most successful UK film (overtaking Titanic) and the fastest selling DVD. I was lucky enough to see this musical on Broadway in New York, soon after it opened and really enjoyed it. I could not visualise how it would transfer to the screen - but I have to admit they have done a fantastic job (mostly) with near perfect casting (almost). A WORD OF WARNING - the film is rated PG with a warning for special care for children under five and I found this warning needed to be observed. After all, how do you explain to an eight year old that a girl and her mother may not know who her father is (from a choice of three). Mamma Mia! How could I resist you?

Advantages: funny, ful of energy and the great timeless ABBA songs
Disadvantages: bit too silly in places, no really surprising plot turns

...Mamma Mia! Finally I've seen the film and afterwards I was jumping with energy the movie boasted me with, so I couldn't not start writing this review. I can't tell about elsewhere, but here in Prague Mamma Mia! has become a symbol of this summer, full of fun, dancing and singing, love, sun, friends, joy and happy ends. Mamma Mia - An Alternative Review

Advantages: Funny, Entertaining
Disadvantages: Probably not for your typical bloke

...I watched this film last night. This film is not based on the life story of Abba in anyway. The film has been created around Abba's music, and the storyline is designed to have their songs drop in at 'relevant moments' in the plot (clever marketing ???). If you are expecting a musical film with a polished performance to the standard of Evita you will be disapointed, most of the central caste in Mamma Mia are normally actors not singers or dancers. There is definite commical value in this film, the directors have thrown the best actors and scenery that money can buy to create a beautiful movie set in a Greek Island, unfortunately none of the actors (in my opinion) can sing that well, which makes the impromptu song and dance routines in this movie hilarious, and it is an opportunity for you to see some of your favourite actors...

...When I saw Mamma Mia! advertising on the television a couple of weeks back , I instantly knew it was going to be a film I loved. I went to see the film a few days after it's release at my local cineworld. I was glad I hadn't chosen to go on the day of it's release , as my cousin who had gone to see it a day after it's release said that there were so many people wanting to see it that they couldn't let everyone in. I had planned on going to see this film , however usually when I want to see a film I think 'yeah I'll go and see that' however I never actually get round to it , and wait until it comes out on DVD . Although this time I was determined that I was going to go and see the film , even more so when my cousin told me it was fantastic. So there we were in my local Cineworld. Advantages: Everything! Great cast, great musical numbers, very funny
Disadvantages: Pierce Brosnan's vocals could have been better, but nothing really!

Mamma Mia

Advantages: A brilliant summer happy feel movie thats great fun.
Disadvantages: Can seem chaotic

...I wasn't sure what to expect from this film usually when there is a lot of hype over a film you find yourself disappointed but this was certainly not the case with Mamma Mia. Meryl Streep was brilliant in this although she can not pass for a trained singer it didn't matter. It just really worked in the movie as she was meant to be acting the part of a mother who everyone felt sorry for stuck in a hotel that was falling apart with things not going quite right for her, I just think the non perfect singing fitted her character well. Plus the singing from the potential fathers of Sophie will certainly give you a giggle. The film is about Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), daughter of Donna (Meryl Streep), who is due to get married sends a letter to three men, inviting them to her wedding because she wants her father there for her big day...

mamma mia here i go again

...audience buzzing, laughing and smiling by the end of it, whilst tapping their toes the whole way through the film. With all the Abba songs from Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, money money money, honey honey, Lay all your love on me, Super Truper, I have a dream, the winner takes it all and gimme gimme gimme are but to name a few of the songs that appear in the film Although whoever cast Pierce Brosnan in a singing role must have been tone deaf as he sounded like he was strangling a cat, it certainly looked like the whole cast enjoyed making this film and it had some great comical few minutes at the end. Well worth going to see, just a shame in my opinion about Pierce Brosnan singing ability...

...?s OK because we?re all into different types of films however I think we need to remember that this film is a fun romp and whether you?re a fan of ABBA or not - it doesn't matter because this film is very tongue in cheek and unlike some people this film doesn?t take itself too seriously. Mamma Mia will leave you with a smile on your face because it's a great "feel-good" movie that is suitable for all age ranges ? my teenage daughter and her friends love this film as does my octogenarian grandmother. Go on be a devil whether you?re a film buff or not ..... take the chance and check this movie out I?m pretty sure there will be at least one person in your family that will enjoy this film....

...A few nights ago we watched Mamma Mia on DVD, we initially saw it in the cinema soon after its release. The plot of the film is simple, like many good films. Sophie, a normal 20 year old girl (played by the until now unknown Amanda Seyfried) lives with her Mum, Donna (Meryl Streep) on a beautiful Greek island where they are trying to convert their house into a small hotel / B&B.
