It has a sense of spectacle.

Cavill is wooden and the whole thing is po-faced.

...and soaring choruses. He occasionally adds softer motifs featuring warm piano or soft female vocals for quieter moments. Overall I found the music overpowering. I was unimpressed by ?Man of Steel?. I thought it was dull, repetitive and overlong. The direction is self-important. The writing is humourless and often heavy-handed. The performances are generally good, but revolve around a two-dimensional lead...

Fantastic action that's easy to follow, the charismatic Cavill, the two fathers, Adams' Lois

Very thin on characterisation - but perhaps this is saved for the future installments?
