City Inn Manchester

Advantages: Location, service, food
Disadvantages: Small rooms

...I have been a regular to this hotel over the past two years and I have never been disappointed. The hotel is conviently located across from the main train station and only a 2 minute walk to the centre of the city - Piccadilly Gardens. The staff have always been helpful through my stays. The decor is contemporary and the rooms are finished to a high standard. Every room comes equiped with an Apple desktop computer with free internet acess - a nice touch. Fixture and fitting are all of a high spec and clean throughout. My only grip perhaps is that all the rooms are quite small. The hotel bar is again contemporary in style, but is comfortable and has a good number of guests in the evenings. Breakfast was of a high standard with excellent service and a great selection of hot and cold foods. All in all, a great place to stay!...

Our Days in Manchester

Advantages: Clean, comfortable, good food, handy for the hospital
Disadvantages: We had one or two problems - see review

...As those of you who have been reading my 'about me' information will know, we have recently had to stay in Manchester to be near my mom who had to go into Manchester Royal Infirmary for an operation, which never happened as she wasn't strong enough to survive the anaesthetic but that's another story. As I had a lot of arrangements to make Dave decided to take over and find us a suitable hotel for the duration. He wanted to find something really nice but at a reasonable price as this was likely to be the nearest either of us would get to a holiday this year as I am full time carer to mom who has dementia. Anyway after much searching he finally found The Days Hotel at the end of Sackville Street nearest to the Mancunian Way and thus nearest to the Manchester Royal Infirmary. *** The Booking *** We decided to book a Work Zone...

Don't waste your £ on the luxury rooms - Crowne Plaza Manchester

Advantages: Location. New and modern
Disadvantages: Awful club level package. Decor not to everyones taste.

...Owing to the recession the hotel industry has been one of the hardest hit areas and as such, we have seen some of the most excellent deals come out as room rates drop back to prices charged in the 1990?s. Staying in the UK for the summer I decided to take advantage of some of these rates and looked into the special offers available from Crowne Plaza. As a treat for myself and the other half, I decided we would go to Manchester for the weekend. It is a city I haven?t really explored much before and thought it would be a good weekend trip. I had seen the newly opened Crowne Plaza on this years Apprentice and the hotel and rooms looked very modern and stylish and when I saw the promotional prices I thought why the hell not and off we went. Booking I booked my two night stay at www.crowneplaza.co.uk As a member of their priority club...

Get a City Card if you live in Manchester

Advantages: Great product, easy to use and good value for money
Disadvantages: only usable in Manchester

...As a relative newcomer to Manchester in recent months, I was extremely happy to find out about the City Card scheme from a work mate. We were meeting clients for lunch in the city centre, and he passed me the City Card membership guide and asked me to book a restaurant of my choice from the list. When I asked him what it was all about he revealed that you use the City Card to get discounts at restaurants around the city. Upon further investigation on the website I noticed that there were many other benefits included in the membership including the following @Bar offers (normally 25-50% range, or two for one on drinks / food etc) @Cinema, comedy and theatre tickets at 2 for price of 1 @Upto £10 per month off gym membership at several good health clubs around town @25-50% off at some really good salons and health spas...

Good budget hotel minutes from Manchester City Centre

Advantages: cheap, clean, friendly
Disadvantages: No frills, a 15-minute walk from the city centre

...Last year I was asked to sort a block booking for a political conference on a very tight budget. Finding a hotel in Manchester for less than £70 a night proved an almost impossible task. Even the pubs charged more. The only option was the Stay Inn, on the northern edge of the city centre. I was not expecting much as I'd read some pretty begative reviews on the internet but as it turned out they were both unfair and inaccurate. Let's deal with the negatives first. The hotel's location, a good 15 minute walk from Deansgate, means you have to be fairly fit and able-bodied to take advantage of its proximity to town. After dark, you'll probably need a tax which is £5 or so from Albert Square. The area is not exactly posh but the goood news is it is rapidly getting better as a result of the new housing...

MANCHESTER CITY HOME SHIRT 2005/2006

Advantages: STYLISH YET SIMILAR COLOURS TO OLD SHIRTS - QUALITY PRODUCTION
Disadvantages: MAN CITY BADGE OF LEFT HAND SIDE CAN IRRITATE THE LEFT NIPPLE

...As an avid Manchester City supporter from as far as I can remember I have owned every seasons home shirt and even picked up a few away shirts en route. The only problem I could find with this shirt is on the inside left hand side of the shirt - the back of the badge which irritates the nipple when running or jogging or imitating your favourite City players. The shirt has a sleek round neck design with white and black bands around the shoulder area. The front and back of the shirt has a small detail to it which makes it stand out but I must admit it stands out more when your outside in the wet. It can also been seen up close when you get your shirt out of the washing machine as its machine washable also after that muddy days football! Another small problem I occured with the shirt although this is not the manufacturers fault as I...

Good to have a Manchester derby match again

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...As a Liverpool fan I?m pleased to see Manchester City back in the top flight. Not only because they are sure to take a few points off their Old Trafford neighbours but because Manchester City is a team that belongs in the highest division. Manchester City may not have won many trophies over the years but they have always been one of the teams to beat and it was a big shock to everyone when there were relegated twice in succession. Now they are back in the big time they will surely stay up and regain their place as a consistent top 10 finishers....

Super hotel in the heart of Manchester

Advantages: Location, staff, nice rooms
Disadvantages: Expensive

...I have had the pleasure of staying here on business on several occasions. My mother?s family come from Manchester so I always really enjoy visiting Manchester. About the hotel: The Arora Manchester is a four star hotel with over 140 bedrooms. It?s part owned by Cliff Richard and there are even five special Cliff bedrooms decorated with his memorabilia if you like that kind of thing! The location on Princess Street is also excellent as you are in the city centre and only 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly station if you arrive by train. It?s also about a 20-minute journey from the airport, which is also very convenient. The hotel doesn?t have it?s own car park but apparently guests can use the nearby NCP to park at a discounted rate. First Impressions: It?s an old fashioned looking building but it also looks quite grand. It is also...

Manchester Hotel

Advantages: Godd value
Disadvantages: none

...Holiday Inn Express Salford Quays is situated in a very nice location on the waterfront, my room looked out over the renovated canals and docklands which was good. We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was very helpful in giving us local information and directions. All the staff were helpful and friendly ( even when we managed to lock ourselves out of our room!) The room was modern and very clean with plenty of coffee, cups , towels etc Breakfast was as good - plenty of seating, nice dining room, and good length of hours on the Sunday morning in which to get it. Location-wise, it's about 14 minutes on the Metrolink tram from Manchester Piccadilly station on the Eccles line, and from there about a 4-minute walk. Taxi from the city cost us £10 late on Saturday evening, as the Metrolink finishes at 12.30am. Overall I...

Radisson Edwardian, Manchester

Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Expensive for just a room.

...Nice hotel and you do get a sense of actually gettinh what you pay for. That's probably because the rooms are quite expensive - if you just want somewhere to sleep during your weekend in Manchester. Would say its worth paying for as a treat to be in nicer surroundings but not worth paying for if you're not going to be in your hotel room long and just using it for somewhere to dump your shopping and get your head down after a night out. If however, you have money to burn and don't care what you pay. Its the place for you why not? The rooms were stylish and impressive when you walked in - with floor to ceiling windows giving you a nice view - depending which side of the building you were on. Central location just being off Deansgate, so close to everything including china town, city centre, pubs, clubs etc. Nice if you fancy...
