...Tankersley Manor is a place that I have been to a few times over the years and it was also the location of my work's Christmas Party at the end of last year. It is a well known Hotel and Restaurant with a good local reputation. THE BACKGROUND From the outside Tankersley Manor is quite impressive to say the least, standing in its own well maintained Gardens and Grounds and surrounded by Woodland the building itself is a rather imposing Stone built building. The Hotel as you see it today has been extensively restored but it has been built around a 17th Century Manor House that once occupied the location. THE FACILITIES Tankersley Manor has a Restaurant, a Health Club and 70 rooms all with en suite facilities. Alton House Hotel

...I went to stay here in 2006, I think. For my sisters wedding. It was a nice hotel, the architecture inside I knew wasn't real, but it was meant to look posh. Which it did, but only in one room... the reception. So, I stayed here for two days and one night. I didn't sleep on a proper bed, because the room was full in which I was sleeping in (Since its a wedding and all). So in the corner of the room, I had to sleep on a horrible, tiny, lumpy bed. Which can be folded again into a bag. Of course, I can't blame the hotel for the poor bed, because this was my own fault. I'm sure that if there weren't so many people I could of slept on the double bed, which is better. So, in the early days, considering to be the 1800's - Alton House Hotel used to be a house. It is situated in Walderslade and is approx. 42 miles from London Gatwick Airport and 3 miles from Chatham Train Station. ...My wife and I have stayed at The Craig Manor Hotel a total of eight times in the last 3 years each time for two nights (Friday and Saturday), we have stayed bed and breakfast seven times and we took dinner, bed and breakfast once. Manor Hotel, Crickhowell don't go there !

Advantages: Lovely location.
Disadvantages: Extrremely rude management, run down, shabby rooms, deep fried food...

This sort or measly behaviour is unforgivable in my book ! The general state of the hotel is shabby and run down - I don't expect it's a permanent feature, but there was an overflowing skip in the lower car park as part of our view - nice touch ! To make matters even worse, the food is grossly over priced considering quality - you'll get a much better meal for (admittedly only slightly) less at the Bear Inn in Crickhowell. I feel exploited and extremely angry that they have no concept of customer service and are quite happy to take my money and then tell me to "get out of the hotel"... You might question the wisdom of going to the Lakes for a weekend of watersports and outdoor activities in wintry March, and you'd be right to do so! However, the gale force winds, hail and snow were made bearable by the excellent Hillthwaite House Hotel where we were staying. The hotel was an absolute haven! Sprowston Manor - Delightful Countryside Retreat

...I was fortunate enough to be invited by my girlfriend's father to Sprowston Manor to celebrate his 50th birthday. I must say that every aspect of the stay was absolutely fantastic and I would not have any hesitation in recommending this old manor house hotel to anybody. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door by a porter, who took our luggage into the lobby for us, and placed it upon a luggage trolley. After a slight delay at check in (as my girlfriends dad was wanting to pay using his Marriott loyalty card, and they didn't know how to do this!) we were on our way to our room, passing the swimming and sauna area on the way up.
