Tankersley Manor Hotel
Advantages: Excellent Location
Disadvantages: Quite Expensive
...Tankersley Manor is a place that I have been to a few times over the years and it was also the location of my work's Christmas Party at the end of last year.
It is a well known Hotel and Restaurant with a good local reputation.
THE BACKGROUND
From the outside Tankersley Manor is quite impressive to say the least, standing in its own well maintained Gardens and Grounds and surrounded by Woodland the building itself is a rather imposing Stone built building.
The Hotel as you see it today has been extensively restored but it has been built around a 17th Century Manor House that once occupied the location.
THE FACILITIES
Tankersley Manor has a Restaurant, a Health Club and 70 rooms all with en suite facilities. Much of the building has been restored to its original character and there are original Oak beams on the ceilings...

Alton House Hotel
Advantages: Posh hotel, it looks nice, but...
Disadvantages: The staff
...I went to stay here in 2006, I think. For my sisters wedding. It was a nice hotel, the architecture inside I knew wasn't real, but it was meant to look posh. Which it did, but only in one room... the reception. So, I stayed here for two days and one night. I didn't sleep on a proper bed, because the room was full in which I was sleeping in (Since its a wedding and all). So in the corner of the room, I had to sleep on a horrible, tiny, lumpy bed. Which can be folded again into a bag. Of course, I can't blame the hotel for the poor bed, because this was my own fault. I'm sure that if there weren't so many people I could of slept on the double bed, which is better.
So, in the early days, considering to be the 1800's - Alton House Hotel used to be a house. Not a hotel. Rich people used to live in this house. It was only in the 1940's that...

Stratford Manor A Tranquil Retreat
Advantages: Clean, friendly, child friendly, pets allowed, lovely environment
Disadvantages: Can get very busy with slow service and not all staff are very friendly
..., hair-dryer and working desk. The accommodation is to a very high standard with some rooms having the ability to interconnect this is great for families who can be near their children. If you want an interconnecting room then you have to request it in advance. As a guest at The Stratford Manor you have a wide range of dining options to choose from. There is also room service if you don't fancy venturing down to the restaurant.
Each room features a bed with designer headboards and beautiful counterpanes. Colours such as chocolates and vibrancy light up the rooms.
The outside of Stratford Manor has a modern décor with 4 murals that show the seasons.
Despite its tranquil setting, the hotel is just 5 minutes away from the M40, connecting you to a number of interesting cultural attractions, including: Stratford-upon-Avon; Warwick...

Lochside House Hotel, Ayrshire, Scotland
Advantages: perfect service, helpful staff, lovely food and rooms
Disadvantages: can be somewhat expensive but you will get great service
...Lochside House Hotel
Located in the western Ayrshire, ž distance on A76 from Cumnock to New Cumnock lies the family hotel Lochside. As the name says, it's in the vicinity of two lakes, one of them Loch of the Lowes.
This hotel is owned by the Kyle family, who have purchased the property almost 10 years ago when it was in the state of a more or less ruined old farmhouse and they have advanced and refusbished it into a 3-star hotel which has to offer much more than just bed and breakfast.
I have worked in this hotel but it wouldn't be fair to tell you the Kyles' knowhow, now would it? I always thought it must be a pleasure to stay at Lochside as the service as well as staff was always brilliant, rooms well furnished and properly cleaned, menu vast and lots to choose from, also I've seen many guests coming back and a number...

The Bridgewood Manor Hotel
Advantages: Lovely hotel, plenty of things to do.
Disadvantages: Poor location - need a car.
...This Bridgewood Manor Hotel, well I guess I should start with where it is.
The address for this hotel is: Bridgewood Roundabout, Chatham, Kent. It is situated in Walderslade and is approx. 42 miles from London Gatwick Airport and 3 miles from Chatham Train Station.
There are many things to do nearby - Chatham Dockyard is only 6 miles away, as is Rochester Cathedral. There's the infamous Bluewater Shopping Centre only 16 miles away and Leeds Castle is 10 miles away. Ideally, you would need a car to travel around but if you are only looking to explore the surrounding areas, there are a couple of buses that stop close by, and taxi's are fairly inexpensive.
Now, let's talk about what you can in the Bridgewood Manor Hotel:
This hotel boasts an excellent range of amenities including a health centre. Within this there is an indoor...

Great value for money hotel!
Advantages: food great selection, staff friendly close to town
Disadvantages: nothing
...I stayed at the Stonecross Manor Hotel with my friend and had a brilliant time.
It is a superbly modernised leisure hotel in Kendal, right in the heart of the southern and central Lake District
I'm really shocked at some of the negative feedback I've seen from people who have stayed at this hotel as I really enjoyed my stay.
I'd read reviews slating the hotel before I booked it but after going to hotels in the past which I've really liked but heard negative feedback from them I knew not to take into account everyones views as we all have different expectations, and some of us are more fussier then others haha!
First of all I'd like to mention how wonderful and welcoming the staff, they really made me and my friend Vicky feel right at home from the minute we entered the hotel!
The food in the Stonecross Manor Hotel is...

Excellent Hotel Well Worth A Look
Advantages: Good position, Excellent food, Excellent staff, Some nice rooms
Disadvantages: Lake views are a little far away, Some rooms require modernisation
...My wife and I have stayed at The Craig Manor Hotel a total of eight times in the last 3 years each time for two nights (Friday and Saturday), we have stayed bed and breakfast seven times and we took dinner, bed and breakfast once. The only reason for taking dinner just the once is that there are that many good resturaunts within easy walking distance that we would rather not be kept in - house. We have also stayed in a range of different rooms. It is in a good spot and has plenty of parking.
Standard Room
******************
These are exactly as they say 'standard' we have stayed in two different standard rooms and they are quite basic really and the two we have stayed in were in need of modernisation, especially in the bathrooms, although they do seem to be working through the rooms as some others we have stayed in were newly...

Manor Hotel, Crickhowell don't go there !
Advantages: Lovely location.
Disadvantages: Extrremely rude management, run down, shabby rooms, deep fried food...
...was no bath too...)
The coffee at breakfast was actually instant coffee, but served in a cafetiere - what's the point of that other than duping guests ? This sort or measly behaviour is unforgivable in my book !
The general state of the hotel is shabby and run down - I don't expect it's a permanent feature, but there was an overflowing skip in the lower car park as part of our view - nice touch ! To make matters even worse, the food is grossly over priced considering quality - you'll get a much better meal for (admittedly only slightly) less at the Bear Inn in Crickhowell.
I feel exploited and extremely angry that they have no concept of customer service and are quite happy to take my money and then tell me to "get out of the hotel"... To me, this does not seem like a reasonable and sensible way to run a business and certainly no...

Hillthwaite House Hotel - a Haven!
Advantages: Value for money, service, restaurant
Disadvantages: Drive is on a very steep hill!
...I've just got back from a long weekend in the Lake District. You might question the wisdom of going to the Lakes for a weekend of watersports and outdoor activities in wintry March, and you'd be right to do so! However, the gale force winds, hail and snow were made bearable by the excellent Hillthwaite House Hotel where we were staying. The hotel was an absolute haven!
Basics
The hotel is a family run business and has about thirty rooms. We were staying on a special weekend offer and paid Ł185 each for three nights, including bed, breakfast and dinner. The hotel is in Windermere and is about a fifteen minute drive from the M6. It has a swimming pool, sauna and steam room.
Getting There
The hotel had sent a brochure after I booked on the phone and the brochure had a map on the back so I wasn't expecting any...

Sprowston Manor - Delightful Countryside Retreat
Advantages: Large, good facilities
Disadvantages: Somewhat expensive, suprisingly low standard of service
...I was fortunate enough to be invited by my girlfriend's father to Sprowston Manor to celebrate his 50th birthday. I must say that every aspect of the stay was absolutely fantastic and I would not have any hesitation in recommending this old manor house hotel to anybody.
Upon arrival we were greeted at the door by a porter, who took our luggage into the lobby for us, and placed it upon a luggage trolley. After a slight delay at check in (as my girlfriends dad was wanting to pay using his Marriott loyalty card, and they didn't know how to do this!) we were on our way to our room, passing the swimming and sauna area on the way up.
That was the first thing we did after getting to our room, we went for a swim. The pool isn't the biggest and I can imagine is quite unpleasant when crowded, but we didn't experience this, and perhaps never...
