My Road Angel!

...I have always wanted a Satellite Navigation (SatNav) device simply because I drive a lot and I am forever getting lost on my route. Road Angel Navigator 6000 with Blackspot

Advantages: Speed camera warnings, accident blackspot warning, gets you there
Disadvantages: annoying audible in average speed camera area

...a small usb connector on the side that you can also use to update the software (maps etc) online should you need to. i have found that some of the motorola chargers are compatible for using as a car charger for example the motorola l3 charger is a perfect companion All in all i find that the road angel navigator 6000 is a good buy if you are not interested in having the most modern and up to date GPS system available and it does the job just as good as many others that are newer and aparently improved!...

Road Angel Compact - REVIEW - A must have

Advantages: Detects most cameras
Disadvantages: Not 100% accurate.

...The road angel compact is one of the leading brands of speed camera detectors. Plugged into a cigarette lighter, the unit sits in a cradle (attached to windscreen by suction pads). The Road Angel Compact detects: Gatso TruVelo SPECS Watchman Speedcurb DS2 (and a few others). There is also the option to enable accident blackspots, schools, railway crossings and mobile cameras. The system works by synchronization with the road angel server (online). The user pays a subscription of £3.99 a month to access updates. I find that once a week is sufficient. The database is updated constantly - each user having the ability to add a new camera, or indeed delete one, which is then uploaded to the server during synchronization. The Road angel compact looks great. Sitting neatly in the cradle, the neon blue screen gives it style...

Road Angel6000

Advantages: Speed Camera Detector, Hold onto windscreen well
Disadvantages: Slow to start, load routes and enitially gain a satalite signal

...Bought one of these when tomtom was lent to my parents, is not as good as i'd expected, slow to load routes, start and get satalite fix. Also the menu is very complicated and doesn't appear to charge very well. Has sent us some weird routes to get to our destination but i think thats a general satalite navigation thing with all brands as most of them use the same mapping systems. On he good side it does have a good holder for sticking it to the windscreen although it is rather large. The best bit has to be the speed camera detector has never failed yet allows plenty of time for breaking sometimes before we have even seen the camera. Has a effective sound to warn you of cameras and tells you what speed limit applies for the area which the speed camera is in. Also has a usefull anti glare night mode. I wouldn't recommend...

Original Navigator still the best from Road Angel

Advantages: Good mapping, clear speed display, easily understood speed warnings, great customer service
Disadvantages: It takes a minute or so to boot up - an age when you want to drive away NOW!

...I had my Road Angel Navigator stolen, and decided to replace it with the cheaper Road Angel Navigator 7000. It's OK-ish but I found the verbal direction instructions less clear and often they were provided too late, compared to the original Navigator. The mapping display is different between the original unit and the 7000 (they use different mapping systems). I couldn't see that the 7000 offered any key advantage or disadvantage in the map display itself, but it's big drawback is you don't get the simple direction display of the original Navigator unit - the one that automatically replaces the map and gives you simple, clear and easily-read directions such as "turn left on to A6 in 5 miles". The screen size for all of the current Navigator range from Road Angel is the same, although publicity material could lead you to believe...

Advantages: Tough, simple to use and lots of features.
Disadvantages: Recharging takes a while. Sluggish finding intial GPS on start up.

...A very efficient sat nav. Easy to master. Down sides, slowish to boot up and mine takes what seems to be a long time to charge. Easy to see screen and effecient response from touch screen applications. A nice piece of kit and good value. It has the option of being able to be used solely as a safety camera detector, although you need to ensure the monthly updates are always installed, even then they are not always recorded. It also gives the option of recording any camera locations in the memory to upload to Road Angel later and get added to the database for other users. It has various alerts that can be switched on and off at will. One of the most useful is the warning that you have exceeded a set speed. Useful to keep you to a set speed limit and if you come across any cameras that have not been entered in the database yet!...

Angel On Your Windscreen

Advantages: Great Price
Disadvantages: Very Slow to load

...On The Black Spot and Speed Camera addition was also being given away in the price when I purchased this part of the system I do have some problems with. It picks up Black Spot areas easily and accuratly but it is constantly telling me that there is a mobile police van near even when I am on empty roads so that part I question however I must add that the Fixed Cameras are very accurate and always picked up. This service is easily updated by plugging in via USB to your laptop or PC. My overall opinion on the Road Angel is fantastic and better than many systems I have used it has been my angel on my windscreen for 9 months and I feel no need to change it....

Review of Road Angel Navigator 6000

Rapidly Aging Road Angel

Advantages: GPS camera detector, laser detector. easy to use
Disadvantages: ugly, has to be updated which will cost money, no speed limit notice

...I bought my Road Angel about 12 months ago and was lucky enough to get an 18 month license for updates free with it. This camera detector doesn't sense the camera or its radar or infra red signal but responds to a satellite signal warning you that a camera is coming up. It has given a few false alarms but usually these are mobile sites so you can't be sure anyway. The unit comes with a mounting bracket and suckers, a USB cable, charging cable for the car, and a magnetic plate which allows it to attach to a place on the dashboard. I found the unit looked functional but not attractive. I think other units like the Snooper look far better. In driving it works fine. No problems. It picks up the signal and warns you that there is an upcoming camera providing you with plenty of notice to make sure you are driving at a legal speed...
