Marantz deliver on the sound

Advantages: Great looks, expansive open and detailed
Disadvantages: Lacks a little bite, not ideal for loud volumes

...There are a number of high quality amplifiers at the moment within the budget range and Marantz certainly figures prominently in this group. As with all of these amplifiers, they each seem to provide their own characteristic or sonic signature. In the case of Marantz, I usually consider them to be very open throughout the mid range and delivering a crisp clean bass or "snap" to the music. Therefore it was of a great interest to me to finally hear this particular amplifier which has been so highly praised in many publications. When you see this amplifier, it looks expensive, it has a curvy attractive design which certainly belies it's price tag. It is clear that there has been a great emphasis on aesthetics to allow this to stand up in this very competitive market and it certainly gets top marks for that. Secondly a welcome addition...

Marantz cd5400 experience uncovered

Advantages: Uncover brilliant level of detail solid build
Disadvantages: Some features seem useless

...I have had this cd player for close to a year now and i can confidentally say it still works exactley the same from the day i purchased it, which compared to some of its rivals wheer the laser goes weak or the motors go slugish the marantz cd5400 truly has a high quality build to it. If your a marantz fan then you should already have trust in what they can produce and to me the marantz cd5400 is the back bone to a nice high quality system. It is not the best cd player around but for the money I can gurantee you will find it very hard to fin a cd player more impressive then the marantz cd5400. When i first listened to my cd5400 i was that impressed by the acoustical detail it uncoverd i actully had to go down stairs and steal my moms mozart collection just to see how great it was. The only draw backs to this cd player is...

MaRANTZ and RAVES about this one!

Advantages: Quality sound and build/nice features
Disadvantages: A bit too trebly and crisp

...and I couldn?t have got better than the Marantz CD4000. SOUND Marantz are well known for quality products, so I really didn?t need much convincing to get this one. The important thing about separates is balancing your components to create an overall lively but controlled sound, which can be tricky. Your speakers reproduce the sound, the Amp decodes it but your CD player creates it, making it an important starting point in the audio process. The Marantz is sharp and clear, with a very distinct vivid, vibrant sound that would clean up even the most bass orientated systems. It lacks depth however, which would disappoint the bass lovers out there and I find it prefers rock tracks rather than dance or R&B. The old classics belt out nicely, like Mike and the Mechanics `Living Years` and Mike Oldfield?s `Moonlight Shadow`. FEATURES As...

Marantz PM66-SE

Advantages: Features, durability, looks and abilities as a Dolby 2.0 Receiver
Disadvantages: Poor control over demanding music, weak midrange and a general lack of muscles.

...This is an ok amp. Nothing more, nothing less. It plays neutral with a coloring a bit towards the warm side (typical Marantz). It is has all the features needed for an amp today (Thumbs up for the 'Source Direct' switch!), looks good and is easy to use. The problem with this amp is, unfortunately, it's ability to present music. Even though it has no "screaming" weaknesses, it has no apparent strengths neither. It becomes a bit boring too me. Midrange is the weakest side of this amp. When given songs where theres a lot going on in the midrange (Soilwork - Follow The Hollow, Pink FLoyd - The Dark Side of The Moon), it gets messy. It also lacks the open "top" to give Tool - Vicarious or Dire Straits -The Man's Too Strong the snappy sound it deserves. Also the bottom tends to get a bit "wool-like". Almost as it looses controls when...

Mooching to Marantz

Advantages: High Quality Sound
Disadvantages: Not that good for Metallica (TTRACER says)

...Well, this is a name that we all know but we can't usually afford - Warfedale Speakers, Mission Amp., Bose Tweeters etc. are in the same bracket. Now I would love to say that I have this system but unfortunately I can't - but I can write a review of my father-in-law's kit. I have asked a few ciao insiders about Mirantz and what they like / dislike...special thanks to TTRacer. Marantz released this model as a limited version origionally in 2000...either that or the British Isles were over-looked when marketing...anyway...it seems to be around now, so why would you want this. If you are into Heavy Metal; stop reading - it ain't worth it. I've been told that CD-5000 doesn't give out the right LIVE atmosphere needed for feedback playing seen in concerts. Whatever dad but ummm...I like this classically constructed masterclass...

Marantz SR4400, sounds great, looks lovely

Advantages: Great sound decoding, solid construction
Disadvantages: bit low on power output

...operate several devices, including CD player, TV, DVD, VCR, etc. In the manual are codes for most popular brands. I believe the Marantz SR4400 to be a great reciever with many useful functions and lots of functions for the Audiophiles to be happy with. Their are lots of future proof features to like 96/24 bit processing which is higher sound quality than todays CD's and 6.1 channels in Dolby and DTS. I would highly recommend this reciever over anything I have heard in its price bracket i.e the Denon AVR 1803, Sony STR DB790, and Yamaha HTR5550. It sounds amazing, has lots of features and looks stunning....

marantz pm7200 experience

Advantages: Loads of different features 90 watt per channel
Disadvantages: size weigth and over heating

...When i saw the the spec of this amp i was so over the moon i just needed to get it. I thought all of this for this amount of money no way what a true bargain indeed. So with out a second thought i purchased it and this is why i am writing this review for the ciao users so they can have that second thought. Any way I brought it home and got my mate to set it all up as he knows what he doing with this sort of equipment. i started checking out all the differnt features i felt as if i was a kid with a new toy that was how much excitment. The system towerd over the room just like how i wanted it to with my cd player on top of it. the amp was working perfectley and the quality i was just amazing specially with the A class mode feature. Plus with the power of 90 watts per channel the amp shown no signs of struggling. i...

PumP IT UP!!!

Advantages: Great sound quality
Disadvantages: can be pricey

...I love listening to music, so when my Hifi stopped working I went ballistic. For some reason the music wouldn?t play, the power would come but the sound wouldn?t come through. I had to buy a new Hifi. I didn?t know much about buying Hifi, so I asked my brother to buy me one. My brother bought me the Marantz CD5001 from for around £230. When I found about the price I was shocked at how expensive it was. The Marantz CD5001hifi is so value for money because; the quality of the sound that it projects is just so superb. The special features it has are: * Solid metal front and rigid chassis construction with a silver finish, which I just love. * Quick Replay ? So you can listen to your songs again with a fast replay. * Remote Control- RC5400CD ? The remote control is just great, lots of features on the remote control...

Beautiful Sound in the Air Tonight

Advantages: Fantastic sound, good reception, long wave capability.
Disadvantages: Scarce features, no signal strength meter, no remote control.

...frequency signals can escape to distort other components in your chain, particularly CD players. Fortunately, the Marantz ST-63 is very solid built, Full Metal Jacket so to say. I took the liberty to open the case and have a look inside. Because a tuner is a rather simple electronic appliance, it is quite hard to fill a Hi-Fi standard 17 inches wide case with tuner components. A 3 x 3 inches box could equally fit the whole set-up. Marantz, too, have not reinvented the tuner overnight, and the electronics only fill half the case. But there are some noticeable differences to other models. Most obvious is the oversized transformer which secures excellent power supply for the amplification modules. These consist of two high quality MOS-Fets - special power transistors which are only used in the better stereo components, an certainly not in your...

DVD player that thinks it's a serious CD

Advantages: Near Audiophile quality crisp picture precise sound
Disadvantages: Very few

...Most DVD players will spend a lifetime sitting under the TV - this one is just as happy in the Hi Fi rack. The trouble with most DVD players is that they are first and foremost intended as a player of DVD movies on the television. When it comes to playing audio CDs, they simply don't compare with 'proper' audio CD players. This one is different. Marantz is well respected as a 'near audiophile' brand name - the emphasis is on quality rather than features, the DV-3100 is no exception. I have a particular interest in baroque chamber music. Few DVD players can offer the precision and dynamic range of a digital audio track - the DV-3100 handles this admirably. In terms of looks - the design theme is simple - black knobs, a single smoked 'window' which shows the basic functions, centrally mounted CD drawer all on a flat...
