...The small Derbyshire village of Eyam is most famous for its association with the bubonic plague in the 17th century. The plague was brought here from London in 1666 via infected cloth and within just a few weeks over half of the population of Eyam had died. Many people are drawn here by this moving story and those that know the story well will know that that the Church of St Lawrence that stands in the centre of this pretty village is paramount in the story. When the plague struck in 1666 the Church had already been standing for almost five centuries. However in those days it was dedicated to St Helen and was not renamed until around 1900. ...This review is for the Lawrence Cat Shedder, however, as it this is just a miniature replica of the dog shedder, I can?t see there being a lot of difference. I adopted two cats a couple of years ago, one of which has a very sleek coat which turned out to be notoriously hard to groom. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Advantages: Hilarious throughout with a twist of philosophy.
Disadvantages: Could easily offend many people. Special features don't add much.

...One weekend I was on the lookout for a good comedy film and I came across this Martin Lawrence stand up. Having only seen in him good cop - bad cop movies before (all of which I found amazingly funny) I wasn't aware that this was where he started his career so I thought I'd give him a shot. It starts with a short film about the trials and tribulations (a phrase you shall hear throughout the stand-up) in Martin's life, both personally and professionally, and is a real eye-opener for those who just thought of him as an uncomplicated comedy actor. The stand-up itself starts with the obligatory thankyou's and minor insults directed at the crowd but once he gets into his flow his comedy brilliance really shines through. ...Welcome back Marc - this album is absolutely THE BEST. Each song is sung in Marc's unique style, with guest appearances from Jools Holland, Antony Hegarty and Sarah Cracknell. Brilliant versions of Strangers in the Night and Dream Lover. Recommended to all fans of Marc. Not one bad song on the CD - quickly became one of my favourites. A1 for Marc! One of those CDs where after listening to it a few times you get to know the words and you quickly find yourself singing along. Absolutely spine tingling album - I saw him live in Bristol when this CD came out, and each time I listen to it it takes me back to that night. Absolutely recommended to everyone. I dare anyone who buys this CD not to like it....
