Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. ...Welcome back Marc - this album is absolutely THE BEST. Each song is sung in Marc's unique style, with guest appearances from Jools Holland, Antony Hegarty and Sarah Cracknell. Brilliant versions of Strangers in the Night and Dream Lover. Recommended to all fans of Marc. Not one bad song on the CD - quickly became one of my favourites. A1 for Marc! One of those CDs where after listening to it a few times you get to know the words and you quickly find yourself singing along. Absolutely spine tingling album - I saw him live in Bristol when this CD came out, and each time I listen to it it takes me back to that night. Absolutely recommended to everyone. I dare anyone who buys this CD not to like it....

...This album came out in 1999, I bought it in 2000, after hearing I need to know, whilst on holiday in Turkey, (a vain attempt to keep my holiday memories alive!). Marc Anthony is a Puerto Rican New Yorker, a Nuyorican, as they have decided to call themselves. He has been around for some years, I believe this is his first English language album, but don't quote me on that. He has starred in a few films, one of which being 'Sneakers', if any of you remeber it, I think it was about computer hackers? It is the way his voice brakes in the middle of a note that gives it such sincerity and attracted me to buy this album. ...significant in the fact that this was nearing the end. Life?s a Gas I hope its gonna last I guess there are a few DVD?s like this out there where we can reminisce and forget about the crazy hazy world of the naughties, but this along with my collection of T.Rex/Marc Bolan CD?s/DVD?s take me back to a time where I had less worries and a lot less stress, and if only for the brief hour or so the DVD runs I am taken back to those days with a smile on my face then the £6.97 is already well spent. For a Bolan fan I could not with hand on heart say this was a necessity, but it will give you some footage you?ve never seen or perhaps not seen for a while, and for that alone it is worth considering....
