I had given my big food processor to my daughter when she moved out as I never used it. I kept a little hand mixer and a blender. The blender died so I replaced it with a cheap one from Tesco which was total rubbish so after the third replacement I asked for my money back. Now I only had a hand mixer which wasn't that useful for soups hence looking for something small that would do the job. ...Earlier this year after watching Hells Kitchen religiously I enquired at my local library to see if Marco Pierre White had written an autobiography, a few weeks later they had got me a copy from another branch so the read began. The first few chapters took me a while as I don't get much time to read but when we went on holiday I was able to really get into it and couldn't put it down! The book starts with Marco writing about his childhood in Leeds and his family. He lived with mum, dad and three brothers, his mother was Italian which is where his name comes. Tragically she died suddenly when he was very young (i think six years old) and he speaks about the impact this had on his life and future relationships. ...Marco Pierre-White, recently seen in ITV's Hell's Kitchen series, is one of England's greatest ever chefs. His restaurants were regarded as the highest-levels of fine-dining anywhere in the world and he famously gave tutelage to any number of successful chefs now plying their trade on TV screens and restaurants around the country. Even Gordon Ramsay, one of his better-known pupils, once burst into tears because of the pressure that Marco put him under. You'd expect a soup bearing his name to be good then? Thankfully, yes it is but at a price. Upon opening the attractively-designed carton, the soup can be seen to have a distinctive, deep red colour with flecks of green basil. ...Yes, another Venice review...Probably my last one though... Okay...Saint Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) was built in 1071, and is in Venice, at St Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco). The square can be hard to find, or very easy, depending on how good you are at navigating the streets (needless to say, we had a bit of a struggle!) Even though the basilica is enormous, I couldn't see it at all until we stumbled straight onto St Mark's Square, where it suddenly leaps out on you, dominating the place. If ever you go to Venice I would strongly recommend a trip to St Marks Square, as this building is probably one of the most amazing you will ever see. The thing that struck me first of all was the sheer colossal size of it. It is toweringly tall, and extemely wide, I have never seen anything like it. I was expecting to see...

...I was once told that I was just like Marco Pierre White. Taking this as a compliment I mearly assummed that they were referring to how incredibly talented I am when working with food. Sadly this was not what they were getting at. I have recently discovered that it was more down to the fact that a lot of the time I say things which make no sense whatsoever! This is one way is what can make Marco's Hell's Kitchen so funny. I never watched it when Gordan Ramsey was doing it. But since Marco has taken over I've become completely addicted to it. Down to the fact that they've cut down the programme from what was 90 minutes to the hour, the amount of cooking where we actually got to see how they were doing it has been decreased. Appareantly due to the fact that ITV are 'skint' they couldn't afford to get any celebrities of a high standard...
