...being out of business. Apparently this kind of logic is lost in Hotel Maria Isabel. All I can say is: If you're American or European, or a South American who just wants to be treated like a person, don't stay at this hotel....

A Day In Capri Italy

Advantages: Lots to see and do
Disadvantages: not enough time

...~ A Day In Capri ~ We booked a day trip to capri with a representative from our hotel (we were staying at the Excelsior Vittoria Hotel) in Sorrento this trip cost approx £60.00 per person. We got the hydrofoil from the marina piccolo which takes about twenty to thirty minutes or so. As we approached Capri I was amazed at the view of elegant brightly coloured buildings and tropical trees and plants it really does take your breath away and looks a bit like Balamory (colourful childrens programme based around Balamory) with all the beautiful colours and shapes, I think you will see what I mean on the photo's. ~ AnaCapri ~ We got a minibus to AnaCapri which is the island's second (Ana-means other), quieter town with lovely little white houses halfway up the slopes of Monte Solaro (which is the highest point on capri...

"Tia Maria Playse"

Advantages: It's gorgeous, it'a alcoholic, it's a sweet, luxurious liqueur..
Disadvantages: Too expensive!

...This has got to be my favourite drink in the world. And to use an American expression that I think rather fitting....Period. It's fantastic, I could rave on about it using all sorts of adjectives. but that's not going to get me a high rating, nor particularly inform you guys. :P As described on the rather lovely packaging, this drink is 'uniquely dark and intriguing' and I've got to agree. Tia Maria is a dark rum and while it looks like it could be quite dry, it's got a deliciously sweet coffee/vanilla taste to it that is so moreish. Pour it into a glass and you'll see a thick, dark coloured, wonderful-smelling liquid come out. Put the glass to your lips and inhale the vanilla/coffee smell. Sip it slowly and taste the luxurious pleasure that is Tia Maria. I can't describe the taste, I wouldn't do it justice. It's26.5% volume...

Disadvantages: Not honouring confirmed bookings,Poor service, poor staff attitude

...We recommend you do NOT book this hotel. We booked and confirmed 2 rooms for 3 nights, 9 months ago, in Jan.2008, through the hotel's own website; they took the entire fee there and then. When we arrived, tired after a long 12-hour journey, we discovered our rooms were not available; they had given them to other people, & so they sent us to an Express Holiday Inn (NOT of equivalent standard) over 10 miles away in Reggio nell'Emilia, on the edge of an industrial estate, one side overlooking a motorway and the other a truck scrapyard! We were given no prior notice, no apology, no offer of compensation of any kind; the staff were unsympathetic and generally unhelpful, with a poor attitude. They later admitted that around 70% of their internet -booked clients are sent elsewhere(presumably because they make more money that way); we got...

Abitart Hotel, Rome, Italy

Advantages: Good position, nice rooms, good breakfast.
Disadvantages: Expensive

...I stayed at this Hotel a couple 2 years ago for 3 nights. When the taxi pulled up outside the Hotel I was rather disappointed, the first impression wasn't too good, it looked small. The Hotel is in the Ostiense - Testaccio area of Rome, and I had chosen it for this, it is near to the Metro (Pyramide - about 10 mins walk from the Hotel) and there is also the local bus which stops nearer to the Hotel. The rooms are really clean and comfortable, my room was a very calming shade of beige and white with silver fitting, all very smart and modern, and as I say comfortable with air-conditioning. The staff were reasonably friendly, and I did have problems with my door card which they changed immediately with a new one. The breakfast was very good, I did come down to breakfast early each day at about 8.00am, so there was plenty of food...

SHOULDN'T THAT BE COFFIA MARIA.

Advantages: It's alcoholic. It tastes lovely. It's alcoholic.

But, I?ve never really grown to like the taste that much. On rare occasions, I will actually want to drink beer or lager in the same way, that on rare occasions I will want to drink tea. The Strand Palace Hotel

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

...I stayed here when it opened, so it was very quiet. If it gets included in the holiday brochures, I can't imagine it being too quiet for too often. Most tourist hotels are built near the Lido complex at the North side of Funchal. The Porto Santa Maria is at the opposite end of town, right at the border between the 'old' town and the rest of Funchal. It's only a short walk from the hotel to the cable car and the town centre shops (although this is over cobbles, so beware if you need a wheelchair or if you have difficulty walking), and there are plenty of restaurants around. The hotel itself is spotless, the rooms are well air-conditioned, with access to balconies or terraces - everything you would expect from a four-star hotel on this island. ...I went to Little Italy a few months ago with my girlfriend and have mixed feelings about the place. Situated on Soho's Frith Street it is the heart of a really buzzy and lively area of London. An area in which you are spoilt for choice for dining, especially with Italian restaurants, you have to be doing something right to survive. Little Italy is a restaurant, bar and club. In the latter two it succeeds, in the former, not so. As a restaurant, the first thing you'll notice is the abundance of staff waiting to wait on you but somehow unwilling to do so or be helpful. Then there is the food itself, which is grotesquely overpriced at about £30 per head excluding drinks. The bruchetta was like oiled cardboard and our main meat dish favouring better but still fairly bland. So much so I can't even remember what meat it was, probably beef...

A week's successful holiday in St. Agnello, Sorrento (Italy)

...Eight days in St. Agnello, Sorrento, Italy. We have just returned from a very successful week in Sorrento. Arriving at Naples Airport we took the regular bus service to Sorrento as far as St. Agnello which is once stop before Sorrento itself. The journey time should be one hour and the single fare was 10.0?. Having poured over many reviews of hotels in Sorrento area we chose the Alpha and found it to be the Alpha and Omega of Hotels. We couldn?t have asked for anything better; from the moment we walked through the front door we could see that we were going to like it. We were met by a cheerful, smiling, English speaking receptionist who greeted us with the news that they had decided to upgrade our room to a panoramic one with a balcony without extra charge. We were booked for bed and breakfast but after the first evening...
