Inferior Mario Kart
Review of Mario Kart (N64) by scream4bruce

Advantages: The obvious multiplayer fun
Disadvantages: Average course designs, luck and not skill a considerable factor

...*A review of Mario Kart 64 for the N64.* Anyone who regards Mario Kart 64 to be the superior game to Super Mario Kart is wrong. There, I said it. Mario Kart 64 allows for four players to play simultaneously, but I'd much rather take it in turns to play Super Mario Kart. I prefer the handling in Super Mario Kart. When turning in this game, the carts have a tendancy to slide. There are inconsistancies amongst the collisions in this game. Data is saved to the cartridge of Mario Kart 64, but pretty much a single memory pak is required to save ghosts! The use of sprites for the characters and sprites was disappointing - they almost look out of place with their 3D environments. The draw distance is not exactly great either. Audio-wise, the character cries can be a bit much. It's not difficult to get gold cups for all competitions on Grand... Read review

better than mario kart
Review of Diddy Kong Racing (N64) by genius3

Advantages: brilliant one player
Disadvantages: COMPUTER PLAYERS NOT GOOD ENOUGH

...This is the first ever Nintendo 64 game that I played, and it was my friends game. I liked it so much that it convinced me too buy the console and the game! One advantage that this game has over Mario Kart is that it has a very good one player mode. You go on a little adventure trying to beat other racers to complete the game. Not only that but I personally think that it has a better multiplayer than Mario Kart, though some people will disagree. You open up lots of hidden secrets as you complete the game keeping you interested. If you had to choose a between this game and Mario Kart than I would say buy this.... Read review

Mario Kart
Review of Mario Kart (N64) by tomsmad

Advantages: Excellent multiplayer
Disadvantages: It could have more tracks

...I used to play Mario Kart whenever I went to Toys 'R' Us because it was the game that was always in the N64. When I bought my N64 the first game I bought that didn't come with it was Mario Kart. I thought that I had to get it because I'd played it so much and to this day I have not regretted buying it. It has a good single player which is a good thing especially as my brother never wants to play. Whenever I do play multiplayer I am always impressed by the orignallity. The idea of having weapons is excellent and makes the game so much better. Another thing that makes multiplayer good is the battles. They are also very original and very fun to play. If you are thinking of buying this game then do!... Read review

Have I Toad You About This Peach Of A Game
Review of Mario Kart Super Circuit (GBA) by scream4bruce

Advantages: SMK-like handling, plenty of circuits, finely presented, multiplayer
Disadvantages: Can be tricky to see coins, slightly dodgy computer opponents

...*A review of Mario Kart Super Circut primarily based on a single-player experience.* The first Mario Kart game not to be developed by Nintendo themselves, with Intelligent Systems taking on the task. Mixing elements from Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 but getting the balance about right. THUMBS-UP: Newcomer and veterans of Mario Kart are welcome to the racing, and the handling comes close to that of Super Mario Kart rather than Mario Kart 64 (a good thing). Controls suited to the Game Boy Advance. Graphics are good and the music is sound (ahem). Eight characters to choose from, including Toad and Peach. Plenty of circuits to race on, and not a single bad track. The secrets to be unlocked make for a super special surprise for fans of Super Mario Kart. The rankings system boosts replay value. Completion of cups in Mario GP Mode... Read review

Mario Kart Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Review of Mario Kart Wii (Wii) by Adders.P

Advantages: Fun, great replay value.
Disadvantages: No Paratroopa.

...What is Mario Kart? Mario Kart is a racing game using characters from the Super Mario Bros series. Unlike most other racing games, Mario Kart uses items to make the racing more interesting. The Predecessors Mario Kart started life on the SNES console in 1992 with Super Mario Kart. The game had 20 tracks over 4 cups, each with 5 tracks. Players have to unlock the "Special Cup" by beating the Mushroom Cup, Star Cup and Flower Cup in 100CC Grand Prix mode. The second Mario Kart game to be released was Mario Kart 64 on the Nintendo 64. It was released in 1996, and was made available on the Wii's Virtual Console in 2007. This game had only 16 tracks, all of which were available from the start. As with Super Mario Kart, the cups were called Mushroom Cup, Star Cup, Flower Cup and Special Cup. The third Mario Kart game... Read review

Better than Mario Kart - YES
Review of Crash Team Racing (PSX) by Tyler-Durden

Advantages: Great two player fun
Disadvantages: None

...CTR is probably the only Playstation game that I still go back and play again and again. Its firmly in the mould of that Nintendo classic Mario Kart. You get a series of kart races in a suitabley cartoony environment, with power ups, short cuts and other madness gallore. You can play in Adventure mode, where you have to collect items and win particular races in order to progress, in addition you can just race. The two player mode is the most fun I've had in front of the TV for ages. The graphics are IMHO better than Mario Kart as is the whole game. Get some beers in and the lads round and have a party !!... Read review

Diddy Kong is the best!
Review of Diddy Kong Racing (N64) by paul170184

Advantages: graphics
Disadvantages: none

...To say that Diddy Kong Racing has not been greatly influenced by Nintendo's Mario Kart 64 would be a flat-out lie. Diddy looks and plays so similar to Kart that one begins to wonder why this game wasn't billed as a sequel. But Rare has improved upon and not simply borrowed from the genre with hugely enhanced graphics, tight play control and new land, water and air races. The game's multiplayer mode, however, cannot compete with Mario Kart's. A well-rounded, commendable attempt that just falls short of classic status. Overall it's a great game.... Read review

Mario Kart wii
Review of Mario Kart Wii (Wii) by mcleism01

Advantages: music, wii wheel, online
Disadvantages: grand prix, cant fight on your own in battle mode

...Many hardcore Mario fans may have been worried by the addition of motorcycles and tricks to Mario Kart but they have done nothing but make this edition one of the best Mario Karts yet, It I still very similar to the Mario Karts we have known and loved over the years. Gran prix mode, which is meant to be the key part of Mario Kart, is the part of Mario kart that let me down the most, it's not that it's bad or anything, it's just that to get gold trophies in all four different levels you need to a lot of racing and it bores you aftera while. The best improvment to Mario Kart is the midair stunt system which can ear you a speed boost simply by flicking the wiimote. And when your on a motorbike you can flick your wiimote backwards to do a wheelie which earns you a slight speed bost when your gowing down a straight. however the problem... Read review

Mario kart sadly dissapointing- Hudinisghost
Review of Mario Kart (NDS) by hudinisghost

Advantages: Racing play is origional, wepon feature is fun
Disadvantages: Repetitive, Repetitive, Repetitive, does not use the DS functions well, pointless mini games,

...Mario Kart is a mere cousin comapred to the greatness of the mario family tree. The game itself is good yet we all expect a liitle bit more from mario. The game has a variety of race tracks, karts and weapons to use. The versus mode is highly adaptable for any type of 1on1, grudge match or even playing around the world. The racing itself is good. The idea of winning different grand prixs to ascend to karting greatness stirs the hidden lewis hamilton inside you. But i still feel nintendo have crashed into the racing side billboards with this title Once you've raced round a track, you've raced it. Do i really race it hundreds of times over to get a tiny cup? The gameplay doesn't incoperate the DS touchscreen function nor the mic or stylus. Frankly this is better suited to the Gameboy line. The wepons are boring and i want desruction... Read review

MARIO KART 64
Review of Mario Kart (N64) by Jester247

Advantages: GREAT FUN
Disadvantages: LOSES ITS MAGIC AFTER A WHILE

...Mario Kart 64 isn’t the most impressive game I have ever played, but it certainly deserves the title ‘classic’, as so many people have rightly said. The original game on the SNES was a revelation, with great graphics – almost true 3D in a way, and yet the game was so much fun to play and a hundred and one imitations of Mario Kart have been released – none of which, not even Mario Kart 64, have been as good as the SNES Nintendo masterpiece. However, the N64’s version is a very entertaining game, one of the most sought after Nintendo games at the auction sites at the moment! The game play was always the major success in Nintendo home titles, and Mario Kart delivers the most superb playability! The handling of each character’s ‘car’ is superb, and all have various different qualities... Read review
