FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

The brand GORE-TEX
Advantages: Guaranteed result
Disadvantages: A bit more expensive
...Have you already heard about the brand Gore-Tex? I read time ago some good things about it in a magazine and the last autumn I purchased boots having this brand that was introduced more than 25 years ago.Today, GORE-TEX® fabric is known worldwide for extreme-weather protection that keeps you dry and comfortable from head to toe. I would like to approach to you some facts about this brand because after having Gore-Tex branded socks and shoes I became a real supporter of shoes and garments that guarantee quality.
And afterwards I will add my experience with a GORE-TEX item.
First I made a research in Wikipedia and here is the result:
GORE-TEX® is a registered trademark of W.L. Gore & Associates best known for its use in relation to waterproof/breathable fabrics. WL Gore and Associates is known for its unique corporate structure. It...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Tokyo Gore Police - A Blood Drenched Japanese Gore-Fest
Advantages: Crazy, comical and downright weird. Plenty of action too.
Disadvantages: Way over the top gore. Storyline is quite weak.
...Tokyo Gore Police is a blood soaked journey into the near future - a future where Tokyo has privatized its police force, and a new breed of 'killer-mutants' have emerged. These super-criminal mutants are called 'engineers' and pose an extreme threat to the safety of Japan. Incredibly difficult to kill, these engineer mutants have an uncanny tendency to mutate even further when injured. Only if you completely destroy the mutated areas/limbs of an engineer can you kill it.
Because of the mutant crisis, special 'engineer hunters' have been recruited by the Tokyo Police. Ruka (played by Eihi Shiina), a young Japanese woman, is one such hunter. Adopted at a young age by the Tokyo Police Chief (Yukihide Benny) after the slaying of her father, Ruka is the main defence against the insane mutants. Clad in a police uniform that looks remarkably...

Marius' story
Advantages: Odyssey spanning millenium
Disadvantages: Drags on sometimes
...For those of you following the Tales of the vampires you will already be familiar with Marius who Lestat seeked and find in a remote island in the mediterreanean looking after the King and Queen. Well, this book is all about him.. and him alone.
Marius was a rich roman which was abducted by a tribe from Gaul - nowaday France - to become their new 'God'. This tribe had been for years paying tribute to a vampire locked in a tree trunk. That 'God', we learn, would - thanks to his superhuman abilities - seek out the evildoers during a ceremony held once a year and will in return be fed with human blood. Unfortunately for some unknown reason, the tribe's God had been badly burnt hence Marius' kidnapping.
The book will transport you to Rome at the height of its power. You will see through Marius' eyes the rise of Christianity, the fall...

Give me a Spade, it's worth burying!
Advantages: some might enjoy it
Disadvantages: hard to connect to, changes scenes too quickly
...One of the latest books to come my way is 'Spade and Archer', written by author Joe Gores. Now I had never heard of the author before, so I had no idea what this was going to be like. However the cover of the book is what caught my attention. A very simple design, with a silhouette of a man and his shadow, the title of the book in black bold lettering. However the rest of the cover is Though the colour of the cover itself was in no way bland. It was the most shockingly bright shade of orange I had ever seen. It is definitely eye catching ? a wonderful marketing technique on the publishers and authors behalf!
Okay so the cover definitely grabbed me, but would the story itself be as exciting? Unfortunately, the answer to that question is, No. I was quite looking forward to reading this. Recently I have been introduced to many new book...

Gore for the sake of gore?
Advantages: Make-up was good.
Disadvantages: Cast, soundtrack, gore, script, short...... all just too predictable
...Gore for the sake of gore?
I don't know why I watched this movie! Horror and gore are not remotely my kind of movie. I'd much rather be sat giggling for two hours that preparing to jump for two hours.
Turns out this wasn't even two hours, only 84minutes long, we were all sat there thinking that it couldn't the end yet, it needs to fill another 20minutes or so! Then again, making it any longer would just have been dragging out an already slow script, so maybe the timing was just right.
The basic storyline of this movie is a group of three cannibals, living in the middle of the woods, who attack innocent passers by who get stuck in the woods of West Virginia. Of course, they are given a helping hand to get stuck, because there are various traps set around the place. If pay close attention to the opening credits (we didn't) you...

Blood and gore galore!
Advantages: lots of blood
Disadvantages: lots of blood!
...an individual.
Much like the first film there is a lot of blood and gore which I know will scare some people off. There are some rather disgusting scenes which I won't spoil but let's just say that the girl with the pretty face didn't look very pretty after she was finished with.
The acting isn't very good and if it wasn't for the fact that my sick mind knew that there was going to be some limbs chopped off then I would have probably have switched it off. There one character in particular who is very annoying and I can't say that I felt very sorry for her when she got cut to pieces.
The soundtrack is nothing to write home about and I can't say that I remember any of the songs being outstanding which is quite bad considering I only watched it 12 hours ago. It's just the standard dark tunes that try to scare you out of your seat.
I...

Gore for the sake of it
Advantages: Suspensful
Disadvantages: Completely awful
...if they have a story, this doesn't have much of one. They might as well have just tortured & killed the young men in the first half an hour of the film which would have saved me 90 minutes of my life watching this gore fest. This film is extremely violent & definitely not one for the squeamish. I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone. If you want a really good, inventive horror then try Saw.
I own the 2 disc special edition of this film. I purchased it from play.com for £4.99 even that was too expensive for a film like this! It has many special features on each disc including;
Directors commentary
Interactive featurette
Special effects featurette
Music & sound featurette
Set design featurette
