...I could really write about Marmaris telling you about every detail and youd still be sitting here until tomorrow morning!! I'll try not to get too excited when im imagining myself lying on the beach or out shopping around and give you a good idea of what a holiday in Marmaris has to offer you. However the resort is not quiet if your looking for peace & tranquility - but at the same time its not really overly lively. ...This review is based on my own experience and my own thoughts about Marmaris Turkey. Marmaris is located 100km from Dalaman airport, it sits in a natural bay surrounded by breathtaking mountains. We wanted to visit Marmaris for a number of reasons, an opportunity to experience local life, meet the local people, enjoy the fabulous cusine and relax in the blasting sun. Turkey is an enormous, culturally rich and scenically diverse country and chooseing where abouts to go was hard but the last few years we have had heared so many good things about Marmaris and that's were we ended up going. a week in marmaris

Advantages: Fun and hot

...I went to Marmaris, Turkey for a week in July 2007. It was a late booking and Turkey seemed to be the only thing availible in my price range. Turkey's never really been a place where i thought i would like to go to but i thought i'd give it a go, and by the end of the holiday i didn't want to leave! The weather when i was there was really really hot, but luckily in most shops/hotels/restraunts there is air conditioning. If you can't handle the heat however, i would not reccomend going to Turkey. The beach in Marmaris is ok, theres sun loungers everywhere that you can use, but you need to pay for them. Theres restraunts / bars / shops right next to the beach so you dont need to walk far to get a drink or some food. The annoying thing is that when your lying on the beach [especially women] the waiters from the restraunts constantly...

...Well I have spend the last two weeks in Marmaris, I kinda forgot to tell anyone on Ciao I was going and have most probably been forgotten around here now (sorry about that), anyway here is my opinion on the resort. I have had a quick look at other peoples opinions of Marmaris and it seems to be basking in uttermost praise from people so I am going to highlight the bad points as well as the good points, but keep in mind that Marmaris is a fairly big place and not all you read will be relevant to your holiday (if you do choose to go there). The first thought I had when getting off the plane at Dalaman airport was ?Damn it is hot!?. The bad thing is that Dalaman, the closest airport to Marmaris, is about 2 hours drive away from Marmaris itself so you face a lengthy drive or coach ride over the twisty (but scenic) mountain roads. ...I visited Marmaris in Turkey at the start of July this year for a two week holiday with my friends and found it the most exciting, outstanding holiday I have ever had in my life! Visa Information To enter Turkey for a period of time from 1 week - 3 months you require a Visa, you pay for this Visa as soon as you have stepped off of the plane and before you go through Passport Control. For residents of the UK this payment is £10 per person of any age. This is somewhat of a set back, if a family of four were travelling that is £40 to enter the country for a short holiday break, this may put some people off, however, while you are on holiday in Turkey £40 may have seemed a bargain! MARMARIS

...My first impression of Marmaris was while on a bus in the early morning on my way to my apartment. I could see how dependent on tourism the area is. The standard of hygiene wasn?t as good as I am used to. Certainly not up to the British standards. Electricity supplies are quite something else, to be thrown into darkness by a power cut at any given time is common. However the people are very friendly, and eager to please. When you walk out on to the street, The shopkeepers and restaurant owners all seem to be on the streets ready and eager to ply for our trade. Prices are really cheap, and lots of bargains are to be had. There are be hundreds of shops and restaurants open it seems twenty four hours a day The scenery around MARMARIS is quite spectacular, and a voyage out in a boat is a must. ...Last year after Christmas me and my boyfriend were wandering around the sales in East Kilbride shopping centre when i spotted a cheap deal in the window of a thomas cook store. The deal offered was just over a grand for four adults flying to Marmaris in Turkey on the 19th of May. Excited i insisted we go inside the store and inquire about the deal offered, i thought that such a fantastic deal must be to good to be true. ...People go to Marmaris for two things: shopping and sailing. Whatever your reason the sun will make its presence felt on your activities. This place is HOT. I went to Marmaris on a day trip from Rhodes. It is very easy to organise yourself and well worth doing if you are on Rhodes for any length of time. The only thing is you need to book at least the day before with your passport, as you are leaving the EU and visa arrangements need to be made. This costs $10 or 4000 GDR. The crossing takes about 50 minutes by hydrofoil from Rhodes Town Commercial Harbour. On arrival you have two options: find your own way around or take the bus provided by the Turkish tourist board. Club Candan Marmaris

Advantages: Friendly staff, clean modern complex, good value
Disadvantages: Air con not throughout apartment,

...when in the room, and the curtains shut through the day to keep heat out as much as possible. We tried to leave the air con on for most of the day but it is controlled centrally for part of day and would automatically turn off when the key wasnt in the electricity point. The pool area was clean with plenty of sunbeds available without having to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve them! There are activities though the day facilitated by the entertainment staff such as killer pool, water polo, killer darts and quizes for those who dont want to sunbathe all day! There is a kids club available twice a day. There is a big restaurant that serves food from early in the morning until late at nite, the food is cheap and of good quality, with a wide variety available. Drinks are roughly same price as the rest of the bars in Marmaris...
