Now more about the town itself: ***BEACHES*** If you're planning on visiting Marmaris for its beaches, I would advise you not to: you'll find better. The sand is black sand, and is slightly gritty, making it a little uncomfortable for walking on barefoot or for sunbathing. However, you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas for a small fee which should make you more comfortable! Despite the beaches not being amazing, the sea, on the other hand, is. Magical Marmaris

Advantages: Cheap - Variety - Sun - THE LIST GOES ON
Disadvantages: Comming home!!

...could pay for eg £8 per adult and kids go free!! Boat trip - Boat trips are great if you like swimming in the sea - relaxing - or sunbatheing. Generally this is a good family day out also as everyone can be self entertained. They make stops ie at local fish farm - at secluded beaches - at good swimming points - at other near by resorts - so its a good way to see other things. On board they will cook a bbq for everyone also - normally some freshly caught fish from that day - or some turkish burgers - with salad - pasta - bread. Some of the boats also do drinks included so you wont need to spend a penny the whole day. Again boat trips may be roughly around the same price as a jeep safari - if you buy a few excursions from the same excursion booth they will give you special offers. Water Park - The marmaris water park is such a great day...

a week in marmaris

Advantages: Fun and hot
Disadvantages: sleezy turkish waiters

...I went to Marmaris, Turkey for a week in July 2007. It was a late booking and Turkey seemed to be the only thing availible in my price range. Turkey's never really been a place where i thought i would like to go to but i thought i'd give it a go, and by the end of the holiday i didn't want to leave! The weather when i was there was really really hot, but luckily in most shops/hotels/restraunts there is air conditioning. If you can't handle the heat however, i would not reccomend going to Turkey. The beach in Marmaris is ok, theres sun loungers everywhere that you can use, but you need to pay for them. Theres restraunts / bars / shops right next to the beach so you dont need to walk far to get a drink or some food. The annoying thing is that when your lying on the beach [especially women] the waiters from the restraunts constantly...

Welcome To Marmaris.

Advantages: Nightlife, Shopping, Sun, Sea, People
Disadvantages: The beach.

...you will take a stroll through the beautiful forests, then ride back to base. The Turkish horses are a bit smaller than the horses back home, I would call them ponys but they are very strong and very well trained. To go on a horse safari it would cost you around £25-£30 per person, the trip lasts around 4 hours. You can also go on a diving tour, a bus will pick you up from your hotel and take you on a boat, you will have your own instructor and you will have dinner on the boat also. Enough boat trip which you would enjoy is the BBQ by boat, this is a daily boat trip and you will visit the coves of Marmaris and the other marvellous bays for a swim in the rich blue sea.This boat trip starts in the morning till around 5.30pm. this will cost you around £10 per person but this price includes lunch, transportation, insurance and guides...

Here are a few, probably helpful, subheadings that cover ?important? holiday issues. *Sunbathing* Due to the fact Marmaris is a very hot place indeed, sunbathing is a must for all you sun-worshippers out there. But be careful it is very easy to get burned in the scorching climate. Make sure you apply suncream at regular intervals and drink lots of water to avoid dehydration (I sound like a pamphlet saying that!). The beach in Marmaris is popular but the sand is black and gritty. You can sunbathe just as well by the poolside (most hotels have plenty of sunbeds). However if you have your heart set on a beach then take a trip to Ichmeler (My spelling isn?t too good), it is the next town...

...I visited Marmaris in Turkey at the start of July this year for a two week holiday with my friends and found it the most exciting, outstanding holiday I have ever had in my life! Visa Information To enter Turkey for a period of time from 1 week - 3 months you require a Visa, you pay for this Visa as soon as you have stepped off of the plane and before you go through Passport Control. For residents of the UK this payment is £10 per person of any age. This is somewhat of a set back, if a family of four were travelling that is £40 to enter the country for a short holiday break, this may put some people off, however, while you are on holiday in Turkey £40 may have seemed a bargain! Airport to Accommodation If you wished to travel to Marmaris for a holiday break the nearest Airport to the resort would be Dalaman Airport...

MARMARIS

...My first impression of Marmaris was while on a bus in the early morning on my way to my apartment. I could see how dependent on tourism the area is. The standard of hygiene wasn?t as good as I am used to. Certainly not up to the British standards. Electricity supplies are quite something else, to be thrown into darkness by a power cut at any given time is common. However the people are very friendly, and eager to please. When you walk out on to the street, The shopkeepers and restaurant owners all seem to be on the streets ready and eager to ply for our trade. Prices are really cheap, and lots of bargains are to be had. There are be hundreds of shops and restaurants open it seems twenty four hours a day The scenery around MARMARIS is quite spectacular, and a voyage out in a boat is a must. ...Last year after Christmas me and my boyfriend were wandering around the sales in East Kilbride shopping centre when i spotted a cheap deal in the window of a thomas cook store. The deal offered was just over a grand for four adults flying to Marmaris in Turkey on the 19th of May. Excited i insisted we go inside the store and inquire about the deal offered, i thought that such a fantastic deal must be to good to be true. ...People go to Marmaris for two things: shopping and sailing. Whatever your reason the sun will make its presence felt on your activities. This place is HOT. I went to Marmaris on a day trip from Rhodes. It is very easy to organise yourself and well worth doing if you are on Rhodes for any length of time. The only thing is you need to book at least the day before with your passport, as you are leaving the EU and visa arrangements need to be made. This costs $10 or 4000 GDR. The crossing takes about 50 minutes by hydrofoil from Rhodes Town Commercial Harbour. On arrival you have two options: find your own way around or take the bus provided by the Turkish tourist board.
