Magical Marmaris

Advantages: Cheap - Variety - Sun - THE LIST GOES ON

...roughly 4 hours. Transfer Time -------------------- When you arrive into Dalaman airport there is a lengthy transfer which will be around 1hr 30 mins - 2 hours. This is a bit of a nightmare especially if you have restless kids however most companys make a halfway stop - and the coaches are well air conditioned and comfortable. If your transfer is during the daytime its great looking out the window seeing some of the beautiful landscape in Turkey, how everything looks so natural and fresh - it really is breath taking.. so try to think of your transfer as just an extra bonus to your whole holiday experience. Accommodation ----------------------- Accommodation in Marmaris is varied. a week in marmaris

Advantages: Fun and hot
Disadvantages: sleezy turkish waiters

...I went to Marmaris, Turkey for a week in July 2007. It was a late booking and Turkey seemed to be the only thing availible in my price range. Turkey's never really been a place where i thought i would like to go to but i thought i'd give it a go, and by the end of the holiday i didn't want to leave! The weather when i was there was really really hot, but luckily in most shops/hotels/restraunts there is air conditioning. If you can't handle the heat however, i would not reccomend going to Turkey. The beach in Marmaris is ok, theres sun loungers everywhere that you can use, but you need to pay for them. Theres restraunts / bars / shops right next to the beach so you dont need to walk far to get a drink or some food. The annoying thing is that when your lying on the beach [especially women] the waiters from the restraunts constantly...

...This review is based on my own experience and my own thoughts about Marmaris Turkey. Marmaris is located 100km from Dalaman airport, it sits in a natural bay surrounded by breathtaking mountains. We wanted to visit Marmaris for a number of reasons, an opportunity to experience local life, meet the local people, enjoy the fabulous cusine and relax in the blasting sun. A guide to Marmaris

Advantages: Cheap food, nice weather, history

...arrived at my hotel at 3am and so went straight to my room to have a much-deserved sleep but the room was so hot (because the air conditioner hadn?t been left on) so I sweltered for about an hour before renting a fan from reception and finally getting to sleep. One of the first things I noticed about the country was how odd the currency is. I thought the change bureau had made a mistake and accidentally made me a millionaire. In actually fact the economy of Turkey is a little messed up and everything is in millions! A way to compare English and Turkish money (so you know how much you are paying for something) is £2 is about 5 million lira, £4 is 10 million lira, etc. I was informed by a helpful guide that Marmaris, like 97% of Turkey, is actually in Asia! Turkey ( no, not the one which we eat)

Advantages: Lovely people, cheap, the sun

...My hoilday to Turkey Marmrais started as soon as I got of the plane at Dalaman airport, as I got of the plane the heat just hit me, it was HoT. After we got off the plane we had a long 2 hour coach drive to Marmaris though the mountains which where lovely but we did have a 15 minutes fag break thank god. As we got of the coach, I was really tired and all I wanted to do was sleep, but as we entred the hotel my eyes just opened it was lovely the pool was all lit up and you could smell the beach. My room was lovely and tidy and really clean, before I went to bed I had to have a look around my room, so I went out onto the balcony and I could see the sea and all the boats were lit up. ...I visited Marmaris in Turkey at the start of July this year for a two week holiday with my friends and found it the most exciting, outstanding holiday I have ever had in my life! Visa Information To enter Turkey for a period of time from 1 week - 3 months you require a Visa, you pay for this Visa as soon as you have stepped off of the plane and before you go through Passport Control. For residents of the UK this payment is £10 per person of any age. This is somewhat of a set back, if a family of four were travelling that is £40 to enter the country for a short holiday break, this may put some people off, however, while you are on holiday in Turkey £40 may have seemed a bargain! Airport to Accommodation If you wished to travel to Marmaris for a holiday break the nearest Airport to the resort would be Dalaman Airport...

Marmaris, Turkey

Advantages: VERY hot, cheap everything!Good nightlife

...I went to Marmaris with 2 friends this July for a week. It was such a brilliant holiday, soo hot, one day it was 50 degrees C! We stayed at Sunsmile appartments, slightly out of the centre, but a bus was only 30p and came every 10 mins or so (its too hot to walk) and a taxi was cheap too. Note: when getting a taxi always ask the driver to put the metre on, or they will rip you off (especially if you are drunk)! There were loads of restaurants, but some were all the same, we found it was better to go to the Marina bit if we wanted something a bit more fancy! But the food was so cheap, a proper steak meal will cost around £5. The beer is nice, I recommend drinking efes-very nice! The only problem with Marmaris is the hassle (staff begging you to eat, shop etc at their place) from restaurants, shops, boat trips, we even got hassle...

...When i heard that i was going on holiday to Turkey 2 years ago, all that went through my mind was "Is it close to Iraq?!?" I thought of this due to the emense fighting that was going on in Iraq at the time i was going. I also thought "What if Turkey isnt fun?". May 21st 2003, was the day i first went to Turkey with mixed emotions i boarded my plane from Birmingham to the Airport nearby to the resort of Marmaris named Dalaman. +~ ON THE OTHER SIDE ~+ Dalaman is about 1hr and 30 mins away from the actual resort. Upon entering the terminal you have to have your passports ready straight away as you have to pay a visa, From the UK this price is £10 but it varys from place to place. The main terminal building is small but your luggage usualy come round quite quick, and the cost of a luggage trolly is about £1. Outside of the airport...
