Heart of Manchester - Arndale Centre.

Advantages: City Centre - range of Activities, easy access. Friendly place to meet.
Disadvantages: Often very crowded, quite small compared to The trafford centre. Food Court is also a bit small.

...If you live in Manchester or have heard of the Arndale Centre you may be aware of the traditional name given to it. In south Manchester it was always referred to as a public convenience, due to the dirty yellow cladding on the exterior of the building. This even today, 34 years since it was built, still remains on the outside of the Arndale tower. What has changed however is the exterior of the rest of the building. In 1996 the building, as with M&S, was ripped to shreds by a bomb left in a small HGV on Corporation Street and to the relief of many mancunians, the bomb took the yellow cladding with it. The arndale was left in a terrible state and work commenced on repairing it, as part of "the new Manchester city centre". ...I stayed at the Marriott Royal County recently.The hotel is very easy to find. Local shops are only a five minute walk away as are local pubs and restaurants. This hotel also makes a good choice. One problem you might find is trying to find a parking space. This is an ideal location from which to explore Durham. There is an indoor heated pool. The service in the hotel was first class. Classy Liverpool Marriott

...Me and my girlfriend stayed in the Marriott for one night back in March 2007. The reception area in the Marriott is very nice and extremely clean. When checking in the receptionist was very friendly, offering us extra services and any help/advice we needed for our stay. The conceirge was also very polite, helping us in the lift and offering us help with our bags. The actual room was great, a lovely view looking onto some of Liverpool's historic buildings and the bed was very comfortable. The room was extremely clean and the bathroom was also very nice. We had a meal in the hotel and although the service was second to none, and the meal was beautiful, the pricing was extremely high. ...The Marriott hotel in Waltham abbey is about five minutes down the road from me, and my company had its Christmas party there. Because I live so close I had to argue, but eventually they agreed to book me a room in there fore when I was too drunk to want to get a cab home after!! ...In February, I went to Budapest with my parents for a few days. My dad booked the break over the internet (flights and accommodation) so he chose the hotel that we stayed in. Having stayed in a Marriott hotel on a previous holiday, I was not disappointed when he told us that we would be staying in a Marriott in Budapest. What I didn't know until we got there was that we would be staying in a junior suite! ...Last year I was asked to sort a block booking for a political conference on a very tight budget. Finding a hotel in Manchester for less than £70 a night proved an almost impossible task. Even the pubs charged more. The only option was the Stay Inn, on the northern edge of the city centre. I was not expecting much as I'd read some pretty begative reviews on the internet but as it turned out they were both unfair and inaccurate. Let's deal with the negatives first. The hotel's location, a good 15 minute walk from Deansgate, means you have to be fairly fit and able-bodied to take advantage of its proximity to town. After dark, you'll probably need a tax which is £5 or so from Albert Square. The area is not exactly posh but the goood news is it is rapidly getting better as a result of the new housing...
