Royal connections but not that luxurious -Durham Marriott hotel

Advantages: Comfortable, convenient for city sight seeing
Disadvantages: luke warm bath water and average food in restaurant

...Durham Marriot Hotel Royal County Old Elvert, Durham DH1 3JN A BIT OF SCENE SETTING: This hotel is part of the Marriott chain but is an old hotel which was once the home of Elizabeth Bowes an ancestor of the Queen Mother. Apparently it was often visited when it was privately owned by Edward VII when he was up in Durham. It has had quite a large series of extensions and now boasts 150 bedrooms, some of which are suites and family rooms all and have en suite bathrooms ( As you might expect in a hotel I would have thought). This is a four star hotel right in the centre of Durham so perfect for a city break as you can park your car in the hotel (complimentary) car park and walk round the city which is very compact and just a hop over the road from the hotel. Marriott Hotel Peterborough

Advantages: Clean & very comfortable, good location, nice food

...We stayed at this Marriott Hotel in Peterborough for the night about a month ago now because we had been invited to a friends wedding there at the hotel. This hotel has 162 rooms and it is a 3 star hotel. The location is really tranquil and the hotel is surrounded by really nice pretty gardens and large green fields. We paid £90 for a double room and we got a discount for being guests at the wedding, i think breakfast is at a small extra cost but im not 100% sure so you would need to chack this. Its set within 11 acres or so of grounds adjacent to Peterborough's Main Business Park, we found this hotel really easy to find and very well signposted. We found the staff to be really friendly but extremely professional and helpful at all times. We got checked in really quickly and within 5 minuites we were in our room...

Regents Park Marriott Hotel

Advantages: comfortable and clean
Disadvantages: poor leisure club and not very child friendly

...I stay in Marriott Hotels regularly and have been doing so for the past ten years or so. They are always my preference and the Regents Park Marriott Hotel is always the Marriott that I prefer to stay in when I stay in a hotel in London. I have stayed in there quite a few times (not sure exactly how many) but up until this weekend I had never stayed in there with my family. I have stayed there for business, I have stayed there with friends when we wanted a big night out in London and now I've also stayed there with my family for a family weekend (including children) in London. ...& dring, there's firstly the "Lobby Bar" that's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and you can pick up a fresh Costa Coffee or sandwiches throughout the day (I had a nice three cheese panini). Also, "Mendelssohns Restaurant " is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast here was very nice, and the staff were very helpful. Thirdly, "Players Restaurant" (didn't sample this one) is round the back of the hotel and offers "fine cuisine in vibrant surroundings. A destination restaurant popular in the local area"... There is, of course, a full room service menu (I can rarely resist a "Marriott Burger") that is quickly delivered, with a smile and £2.50 "tray charge". ...I stayed at the Marriott Royal County recently.The hotel is very easy to find. Local shops are only a five minute walk away as are local pubs and restaurants. This hotel also makes a good choice. One problem you might find is trying to find a parking space. This is an ideal location from which to explore Durham. There is an indoor heated pool. The service in the hotel was first class. The hotel is well located and transfer time from the airport (Hamburg) is under 20 minutes or so with taxi fares also being under 20Euros (£13-£15). Just outside o f the hotel you will find a glittering array of upmarket shops and small boutiques and the hotel is located in a very quiet area and all of the rooms are exceptionally quiet. ...Background We recently spent two nights staying at the Marriott Hotel in Edinburgh. We had booked through the Tesco Clubcard Deals scheme and intended to use the hotel as a base for visiting Edinburgh Zoo and Deep Sea World. Location The hotel is located on the western edge of Edinburgh, on Glasgow Road, a mere two miles from the airport, and only 4 miles from Edinburgh city centre. It has ample free on-site parking and is just off the A8. It is also only 5 minutes walk from the Gyle Shopping Centre. The bus-stops outside the hotel are frequented by a number of buses bound for both the city centre and the airport. ...The Marriott hotel in Waltham abbey is about five minutes down the road from me, and my company had its Christmas party there. Because I live so close I had to argue, but eventually they agreed to book me a room in there fore when I was too drunk to want to get a cab home after!!
