Marshall Law
Advantages: Built in effects
Disadvantages: None that I can see
...When I first took up guitar a few years ago I was advised that a good amplifier was probably even more important than a good guitar. Typical of me, I bought the good guitar first and realised I should have taken the advice I was given.
When the truth finally dawned on me I decided I had to go for something a little bit special, and there's no bigger name than Marshall. After a lot of research and drooling over Marshall websites and catalogues I finally decided this was the beast for me.
I'd been using a Vox Cambridge 15 valve amp which was small but had that lovely warm tone that everyone said you can only get from valve amps.
However, what makes the Marshall AVT series that little bit different is that, whilst not technically a valve amp, it incorporates a valve at the pre-amp stage. This 'valvestate' technology gives as close...

Marshall DSL 50 - Pure Rock Heaven!
Advantages: All the authentic classic rock tones you will ever need. Sounds amazing. Simple. Great value.
Disadvantages: Some features not foot-switchable which limits its potential. Clean/Crunch volume difference.
...If you want classic rock tones at a reasonable price then this is the amp head for you. This just screams classic marshall through and through - it does exactly what it says on the tin. With only global EQ its not over complicated so it doesn't feel like your about to land a space shuttle every time you want to make a slight tweak to your sound, but it offers versatility. I can achieve a range of different tones with minimal adjustment and the 'Tone Shift' switch which scoops the mid frequencies offers another dimension. The 'Deep' switch adds tight, low end boost which sounds really meaty through a nice 4x12 cab. Having said that its versatile, I mean that strictly within the Rock genre. If you're after alternative jazz funk tones you're barking up the wrong tree entirely. Marshalls are rock amps and only a fool would try to make it...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Advantages: great summer album
Disadvantages: none
...Based of the 2008 romantic comedy film, Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The soundtrack of Forgetting Sarah Marshall was released on April 15, 2008.
I would recommend this album to anyone who enjoys the film Forgettting Sarah Marshall and to people who enjoy listening to reggae music. Some music on the album is not sang in english although it has a nice hawaiian holiday feel to it.

Guitar Hero with authentic Marshall Rock Sound
Advantages: Great sound, Great look!
Disadvantages: your partner may not understand the need...
...You may think I am a bit of a looser using a Marshall MG15MS Micro Stack to play Guitar Hero. If you are Lars Ulrich I agree with you, but if you are any frustrated Rock Star, as I am, you need to try this experience before you make such a statement.
Imagine the scene:
You are playing your favorite game with your favorite music and with an authentic Marshall guitar amplifier, that you can buy second hand for ? x on eBay, it can smell at smokes and whiskey, but the sound that comes out of it is AMAZING! Real Rock stuff man...
Please try it.
You can connect it in two different ways:
directly from the headphone connector of your TV to the Aux input in the Amplifier, or even better, which allows you to equalize the sound, from the SCART connector that goes from your Wii (or any other console) to the back of the TV, you keep the Video...

Marshall Field's IS Chicago - Hope it stays!
Advantages: The Architecture, the staff, the selection, the atmosphere
Disadvantages: If it doesn't get changed to being called Macy's, then NONE!
...The flagship store of Marshall Field's on State Street is an experience that few should miss when visiting Chicago. As the advert from the 1970s says "Marshall Field's IS Chicago". For well over 150 years Marshall Field's has stood for excellence in retail shopping, as the first Mr. Field believed that women should take pleasure in the drudgery of shopping. He believed that his employees should "give the woman what she wants" - the precursor to "the customer is always right", and he also instated the first ever return policy. Field's is Chicago and the world's first department store is the cornerstone of that great city.
Unfortunately, this is all soon to change, since the famous sign on State Street that reads, simply "Marshall Field's & Company" will soon be changed to? Macy's! This is a total affront to all of Chicago and all...

The Marshall MS-2
Advantages: Very Cheap For a Marshall : ) Portable and Simple
Disadvantages: Batteries Won't Last Long
...The Marshall MS-2 is the smallest amp I have ever seen and it can be taken anywhere to use as a practice amp. The MS-2 is so small I have had people ask me if it actually works and then be amazed when I plugged it in, it is so small you can attach it to your belt with the clip on the back! If you ever wanted an amp to carry around with you and practice with then this will be a good purchase.
Even though the amp is so small it is actually quite loud. It would not be loud enough to practice with friends on 10 watt amps, but its enough to practice alone. One problem I experienced was when turning the volume up on the clean setting the sound becomes a bit distorted - the sound quality is so much better at the lower volume levels.
The amp does actually have the Marshall sound, when comparing with larger amps I found the sound to be...

A good starting place: Marshall Amp
Advantages: Good value, It looks good!
Disadvantages: Not load enough, distortion and effects are not great
...I've enjoyed the Marshall MG50 and have owned mine for about 5 years now. Firstly I would like to say that in its price range, this is definetly the most cost effective amp money can buy, however I do have a few issues with it
Advantages: The amp is extremely easy to use and offers one clean channel for a clean guitar sound (Gain, Bass, Middle, Treble) and one overdrive channel for distortion, this contains a sound contour switch which allows you to play about with the type of distortion you want. The amp also has built in FX settings offering delay, chorus and flanger effects. It has one line in for your guitar jack lead and one line out for headphones/external soundcard etc. It obviously operates off of 50 Kwatts of power.
The functionality of this amp is ideal for beginners upgrading from a practice amp as well as being useful...

Marshall mg50DFX
Advantages: Super Solidstate Combo!
Disadvantages: Could Wake The Neighbours!
...I would highly reccomend this amplifier to anyone that wants to play electric guitars
Its the best combo i have played for under £200, now i'l run through some of the features, and the reasons why it is so good.
Channels:
The clean channel on this amplifier is good and suprisingly warm for a solistate amplifier, this channel also sounds bright when put through the on board effects. The drive channel is typically brilliant considering it is a marshall. the amount of gain you use alters the sound massivley; you can have low gain for a bluesy crunch, or full gain for full out nu metal madness! and obviously the classic rock tones of the marshall somewhere in between those two extremes.
Onboard Effects:
Thesse contain Delay, Chourus, Phaser and a Delay/Chourus setting.
thesse effects sound really strong and powerfull, and the amp...

Marshall MG50DFX
Advantages: Value for money, Range of features, Sound is good for combo amp
Disadvantages: Effects are limited in their control
...I have been playing through a Marshall MG50DFX for about 3 years now and would reccomend this amp to any begginer/intermediate player who is moving into playing in a band or doing some small gigs.
This amp offers a lot of functionality at a decent price, the 4 effects;(and one which s a combination of two) delay, chorus, flange and delay/chorus as well as reverb. When combined with the two channels offer a lot of scope to radically alter your sound right from the off from thrash metal sounds to some warmer, jazzier tones.
Sound Quality:
As you would expect from a Marshall Amp, (even the lower priced products in their range) the sound quality is pretty decent. Whether you play with single coil pickups or boosted up humbuckers you will find decent playing sounds after a few minutes tweeking. What stood out for me for a combo...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Pass some time on a boring day.
Advantages: esay to follow
Disadvantages: not very funny, didn't live up to expectations
...I recorded this film as it was showing on Sky Premiere, but didn't watch it for a week or so afterwards. Whilst not finding the thrill enthralling in any form, it made me laugh a couple of times. I wasn't expecting Russell Brand's acting to be too impressive, but luckily his character Aldous Snow was remarkably similar to his testosterone-fuelled, chauvinistic self, so the "acting" was plausible.
The film was easy to follow, I'll give it that. The storyline was simple, if rather unbelievable at times (e.g. the mildly unattractive Peter Bretter seducing the beautiful yet emotionally scarred Rachel Jansen, the receptionist at the hotel where he just so happened to run into ex-girlfriend Sarah Marshall with her in-your-face new lover Aldous Snow. Right.)
On the whole the characters themselves were believable, however there was the minor...
