Classic Marshall
Review of Marshall MR 1960A/B by
godspeed
Advantages: Dependable sound and reliability.
Disadvantages: They're huge!
...This is the standard Marshall 4x12", rated at 300W. You cannot get a better looking speaker cab. The Marshall is a classic.
The standard version comes in angled (A) or straight (B) formats, which are identical except for their shapes.
The 1960A/B cabs are switchable for stereo operation (where the signal is split between the two vertical pairs of speakers), and also operate at various impedances, so you can match it perfectly to your Marshall head.
These cabs produce a large amount of bass response, due to the closed-back design. If you're using one as an extension cabinet to, say, a 1x12" combo, you will instantly recognise what a difference this makes.
The Marshall sounds fantastic, even when you're playing a relatively crap head through it. The 75W Marshall/Celestion speakers break up at just the right point, and don't sound boomy...

ChikaChika Slim Shady
Review of Marshall Mathers LP, The (Explicit) - Eminem by
FlipModeP
Advantages: Catchy choruses and bumpin'g beats that keep you up all night.
Disadvantages: Tired in the morning becaus eyou've been kept up all night!
...After a comic 1st album, Marshall Mathers has returned with an excellant more serious album. So fat it's been top of the American charts for 8 weeks and its easy to see why. 80% of the songs are catchy and enjoyable and all will cause you to hit the repeat button on your system. Eminem attacks political situations and eats away at his enimies. Some people criticise Marshall for his outrageous lyrics, but why did they buy the album in the first place if they knew they were going to be offended buy it – one reason, because it is so good. The album also features rap legends like Snoop Dogg and Dre which hottens up the songs. A must buy!...

The Power
Review of Marshall MG 30 DFX by
ninediamond
Advantages: portable, loud indoors (and out) 2 channels, affordable
Disadvantages: wont gig on its own, only one effect useable at a time
...I had one of these for a while and used it with a Jackson XS400 (or something like that). As a practice amp, you won't get much better. Just don't expect to play wembley stadium with it.... I really enjoyed owning and using the Marshall and its effects, it could also do with another input channel for when a mate comes round for a jam, you could really annoy the neibours.
All In all , I fully reccommend this product (or mostly anything by Marshall) as a high quality practice amp.
I remember when I first started playing electric guitar for the same price you'd get a nasty sounding 10W amp that hissed and spat at you if you tried to make it distort. This amp is a testament to just how far we've come - technologywise.
Good luck with it....

Another marshal DEAD
Review of Formula 1 Circuit, Melbourne, Australia by
djstu13
Advantages: Exciting race with eventful occurences
Disadvantages: Death of track marshal overshadowed race
...Melbourne was a great way to start the F1 2001 season off. At last it's only about 5 months since the last grandprix but it seemed like an eternity. The moents of truth were upon us. I somehow I couldn't believe I was actually watching this I can't remember another season where I was so excited. The race had everything it had a flying start, overtaking (HOORAY some action) and even some cars touching and crashing. Unfortunately the safety of F1 is going to be looked into because in a space of 5 races 2 track marshals have died due two major crashes. Both incidents occured when a loose wheel struck each marshal in the head leading them to having fatal injuries which led to their deaths. I personally think that the barriers at the race track side are no where near high enough and similar incidents have occured before. Ricardo Zonta...

Valve Tone on a budget
Review of Marshall Valvestate Amplifier by
psychomonkey
Advantages: Great sound, Versatility, ease of use
Disadvantages: No Boost Channel on older models
...Marshall Valvestate amplifiers have long had a reputation in the trade for providing great tone at a budget price. I play my Ibanez S Series through one of the older 8240 Stereo models and I would completely agree that their reputation is fully justified. Sparkling clean tone (not exactly what Marshall are famous for) which can be dirtied up to the point of overdrive using the crunch button, a choice of two different overdrive voicings on the dirty channel and full separate EQ for each channel. The dirty channel also has a contour control to allow easier achievement of the Hetfield and associates "scooped" tone. The stereo chorus and effects loop is also a definate plus.
From what I have heard, the new valvestates models have improved on this model considerably, with a more versatile range of controls, three channels in some models...

Marshall 7152 Dynamic Bass Cabinet
Review of Marshall 7152 Dynamic Bass Cabinet by
wukintn
Advantages: Good sound
Disadvantages: Heavy!
...Solid! That's what it is, no question. I bought the cab new in 2000 and use it with a Marshall 3520 integrated bass amp 200w MOSFET. Initially, I had problems. At mid-volumes the bottom end would fart and lose power. After seeking advice, I was told that the amp couldn't cope with the "low" impedance cab. The amp is rated at 200w at 4 ohms; I measured the cab and found it was 3.4 ohms, slightly less than the 4 ohms stated on the rear plate. I then rewired the cab - two 10" speakers in series, then paralelled with the 15". The resulting resistance measurement showed 6.7 ohms. I plugged it back in to the amp and what an amazing sound came out! I'm happy as Larry with it, powerful, ounchy, just magic. I was playing Ernie Ball Stingray (4 string) through it. I bought an Ovation 5 string acoustic bass and found that the internal preamp made...

Cracking Marshall amp - comes at a price.
Review of Marshall MR VS 65 R by
mainmandan
Advantages: Some good built in effects, great tone, very loud!
Disadvantages: Steep in price, could annoy the neighbours!
...There comes a point when playing guitar that you grow out of certain things. Like that starter package that seems so basic to you now. Like that little amp that seems so, small and unworthy for your new found talent. This is the point where you decide you want a bigger, better amp!
But where to start? What to look for? Which brand?
I chose this - the marshall valvestate vs65, built in digital fx, and a huge 65 watts of power!
If you haven't heard of marshall then let me tell you they are pretty famous in their line of products. If you watch top of the pops or something similair there will probably be a Marshall amp wall in the background somewhere. So you know you are buying quality.
This amp looks amazing. simple stuff really, but it works well, marshall really give attention to detail here. A nice gold theme, with gold...

Then New Album
Review of Marshall Mathers LP, The (Explicit) - Eminem by
Phattyd
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...The new Album by Eminem The Marshal Mathers LP is a sudden chage from the comic book fantasy lyrics of the Slim Shady LP. His new Album is more about the Problems of his new found fame and fortune (though there is still a track where he wants to kill Kim his wife). The music is as disturbing as always with tracks such as 'Stan' and 'Kim'. The track 'Who Knew' sums up his entire album. It is all about the way people blame him for nearly everything.
The music is catchy andlively but suits each track. This is not like the previous album, be prepared for something a little more serious....

Stage Pressence
Review of Marshall MR JTM 45 by
andycharger
Advantages: Great amps
Disadvantages: None
...If you know anything about rock music you will be familiar with the name Marshall.
Its plastered all over the front of the speakers at huge concerts as the preferred amplifier of choice by the world's bands.
No doubt you will have seen one on stage and if not, look out for one next time you see a guitar band on TV.
The reason that they are so popular is their sound, build and style quality that have dominated the industry for about 30 years.
History
-------
Jim Marshall was a London Businessman selling Musical equipment in the 1960's. Due to the lack of quality amplification around at the time, (Vox being the only decent company around) Marshall decided to start his own Amp building business.
From the very start, he was producing superb equipment and soon developed a world wide reputation for syle and quality.
It all started...

The Marshall MS-2
Review of Marshall MS 2 by
richnfg
Advantages: Very Cheap For a Marshall : ) Portable and Simple
Disadvantages: Batteries Won't Last Long
...The Marshall MS-2 is the smallest amp I have ever seen and it can be taken anywhere to use as a practice amp. The MS-2 is so small I have had people ask me if it actually works and then be amazed when I plugged it in, it is so small you can attach it to your belt with the clip on the back! If you ever wanted an amp to carry around with you and practice with then this will be a good purchase.
Even though the amp is so small it is actually quite loud. It would not be loud enough to practice with friends on 10 watt amps, but its enough to practice alone. One problem I experienced was when turning the volume up on the clean setting the sound becomes a bit distorted - the sound quality is so much better at the lower volume levels.
The amp does actually have the Marshall sound, when comparing with larger amps I found the sound to be very...
