Ben and Jerry's Phish Food Icecream
Review of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food by
Zedex
Advantages: Very chocolaty, vegetarian marshmallows, very rich
Disadvantages: Very easy to eat the whole tub in one go...
...Phish Food is probably my favourite Ben & Jerry's flavour. It comes in a 500ml tub (same size as the Haagen Daaz tubs you get but slightly cheaper) and is £3.99 in Safeways (may be cheaper elsewhere and you can sometimes get it on special offer).
It's called Phish Food because there are little pieces of chocolate fudge in the shape of fish mixed in the icecream.
It's made up of chocolate icecream with those little fish pieces I mentioned and also caramel swirls and marshmallow swirls in it. This is the best bit for me, as a vegetarian for many years I've not eaten marshmallows for years because of their gelatine content. However, this flavour of icecream is suitable for vegetarians. I have to say though, the marshmallows are not quite like I remember marshmallows to be (in that they're not very hard and are quite runny) but you do get...

GET YOUR TONGUE AROUND THIS !!!
Review of Tunnock's Tea Cakes by
thingywhatsit
Advantages: Better than sex.
Disadvantages: Probably calories.
...When I think of Tunnocks Tea Cakes, all kinds of naughty thoughts go through my mind. I remember childhood. Childrens parties introduced me to these little beasts, and as a child with sisters, we used to collect up the wrappers to prove who had consumed the most of these temptations. There was never a prize. The prize was always that experience of eating them.
Let's face it, Tunnocks have been around since the turn of the last but one century and something tells me that when they invented the tea cake, they didn't have children in mind, but in fact saucy people who like an experience that is easily comparable to sex, but better.
SO WHAT IS A TUNNOCKS TEA CAKE ?
It is an individually wrapped (in red and silver paper to this day as I always remembered it), chocolate covered marshmallow on a biscuit with a little jam between...

Get your flumps out.
Review of Bassetts Flumps by
pumfster
Advantages: Yummy for your tummy
Disadvantages: None
...Flumps are a version of the marshmallow, made by the Bassetts company. However, unlike just plain shaped marshmallows, they come in all different shapes and sizes. From yellow and pink twists to straight cylinders and everything in between, Flumps are the marshmallow of choice for many people :) (well me anyway!!!)
They come either in a 130g bag costing around about a pound or as a long twist, about the size of a king size mars bar, which cost a cool 10p. They are available in all supermarkets and the majority of newsagents and corner shops. The bags themselves, like the sweets, are very colourful, and unlike many sweets, the bag is easy to open, so you can stuff your face without the infuriating hassle of fiddling with the packaging.
The sweets themselves are very much like other marshmallow brands, however they do have something...

Frothy chocolate anyone!!
Review of Supercook Mini Marshmallows by
Ruthiella
Advantages: Delicious melted!!
Disadvantages: Messy mug rim!
...As a fan of hot chocolate I bought these mini marshmallows to add a bit of something to the blandness that is my instant hot chocolate drink.
They can be bought in the cookery section of any good supermarket and come in 2 types (either multi-coloured or plain white) and are priced at @ 88p for a 200g bag.
I opted for the plain white ones being a) a boring chocoholic and b) anal about the fact that froth on any hot drink should NOT be multi-coloured.
Whilst waiting for the kettle to boil so I could make the drink I nibbled absent-mindedly on the marshmallows. I wasn't disappointed in their flavour but wasn't blown away either. They are quite powdery and bland tasting eaten "neat" as it were. However, I wouldn't describe them as disgusting. I could have eaten the whole packet if I was bored and just looking to nibble on something (if you...

Marshmallow Heaven!
Review of Haribo Pink and White Marshmallows by
micksheff
Advantages: Taste Nice, No Flour Coating, Fat Free
Disadvantages: May Be A Little Too Sweet For Some People
...Oh how happy was I? Yesterday I won myself a 225g tub of Haribo Pink and White Marshmallows by way of the booby prize in my local Pub Quiz. I would however like to point out that before I begin this review it was not for the lowest number of points, it was due to a tie for second place and there are normally only two prizes so it was more of a consolation prize. OK I may have lost, but I got to take these Marshmallows home with me so I don't consider these to be a booby prize at all.
THE BACKGROUND
Haribo are a long established Confectionary Company dating back to Germany 1920. It is however only in much more recent years that their products have reached the UK and their many different ranges of Sweets bearing the Haribo name began to appear on our shelves in the early 1990's. This was quickly followed by an intense TV advertising...

Not so soft and sweet
Review of Ready Steady Cook Marshmallow Maker by
scattyspaniel
Advantages: Looks cute
Disadvantages: Doesn't work
...Junior Ready Steady Cook Marshmallow Maker is disappointing and at the recommended selling price of £19.00+ very poor value for money
**** WHY DID YOU BUY IT ****
I didn’t – my daughter purchased it using her Christmas money, so I feel even more let down with this product.
Junior S, aged 9, has recently developed an interest in all things culinary. This has resulted in some ‘interesting’ but usually quite edible creations issuing forth from the kitchen. So when she pointed excitedly at the marshmallow maker in the January sales who was I to stop this budding Nigella? Spurred on by thoughts of hot chocolate topped with marshmallows, I encouraged her to spend her Christmas money on this product – hence the feeling of guilt now.
**** WHAT DOES THE PACKAGING LOOK LIKE ****
Bright green, yellow, red...

Mmmmmmarshmallows
Review of Cadbury's Hot Chocolate Toppers by
Leigh1
Advantages: Marshmallows melt in your mouth, chocolatey
Disadvantages: Was disappointed with the froth
...Wandering round Tesco tonight, I took a notion for some hot chocolate. Popped up to the Tea and Coffee aisle, and was about to pick up a pack of low-calorie “options” when this Cadburys Chocolate Toppers started calling my name from the top shelves. I was torn between the three flavours: Marshmallow, Cadburys Crunchie or Cadburys Wispa. Decided on the Marshmallow flavour.
Price – 37 pence for one pack, which contains 2 sachets – 35g of the Chocolatey Mix and 7g of Marshmallows. I must admit, I felt a bit cheated here as I thought that you were getting 2 drinks and each sachet contained both the chocolate and the marshmallows.
The Packaging
A twin sachet pack, which is purple with bubbly shapes on one half and pink with marshmallows on the other. There is the “Cadburys2 logo in the top right hand corner and “Marshmallow” is beside...

Not everything low fat tastes like cardboard
Review of Caxton Pink & White Jammies by
SarahP
Advantages: 98% fat free
Disadvantages: not everywhere sells them
...If there is one packet of biscuits that is a frequent visitor to my cupboard, (when I can find them that is!), it is Pink And White Jammies.
I normally find them in Tesco’s for 59p for a packet of 6, next to their cheaper alternatives without the jam, but they aren’t quite as nice, though still nice enough to pop in my basket when the jammie ones aren’t available.
So what is so good about them?
Well apart from the fact that they are 98% fat free, they taste lovely. If you like marshmallow that is! As they are a layer of pink marshmallow and white marshmallow with raspberry jam in the middle, sandwiched between two wafers (like the kind you get for ice creams). They are big too, 10cm long, 5 cm wide and 2.5cm thick!
They look like ice cream wafers only with marshmallow where the ice cream should be.
When you bite into them...

Chocolatey Heaven
Review of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food by
cherryfalls
Advantages: Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate
Disadvantages: It's expensive.
...I had been a long-time lover of Haagen Dazs Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream, that was until I discovered Ben and Jerry's during a sordid visit to my Local UCI.
This particular flavour is my current favourite along with Chocolate Fudge Brownie (are we sensing a theme here yet?). Phish Food is a luxurious chocolate ice cream, with fish shaped chocolate pieces and marshmallow entwined within it's chocolately loveliness.
You may be thinking horrible thoughts about there being marshmallow in this ice cream, which is why I am here to tell you otherwise, for the marshmallow is not in the form of great big lumps as you may have expected. Instead the marshmallow is lovely and smooth and somewhat blended into the chocolate - absolute heaven.
The mixture of chocolate ice cream, chocolate pieces and marshmallow tastes just gorgeous...

I'm dreaming of a chocolatey evening...
Review of Whittard of Chelsea Luxury White Christmas Flavour Hot Chocolate by
Mel27
Advantages: Taste
Disadvantages: Price. Can't drink if you are allergic to nuts
...I was first given a small 250g box of this for Christmas 2003 and it was delicious so in the Whittards January 2005 sale, I bought a large tub of it, complete with white marshmallows. It was £2.50 instead of £5 for a 400g (14oz) tin, from the Newcastle branch of Whittards.
The hot chocolate is white chocolate flavoured with hazelnut. It's described as "creamy white chocolate with nutty praline flavour and scrumptious mini marshmallows on top".
That's a fairly accurate description although the marshmallows only last as long as you want them to - I got half a dozen cups out of the little packet.
To make the hot chocolate, put 4-5 heaped teaspoons of the powder into a medium-sized mug or hot water or hot milk and stir. I tend to fill it half way with milk and then allow it to melt a little to stop it being too powdery. I then add hot...
