"Desserts" by James Martin

Advantages: Good old fashioned puddings. Easy to read. Good Value
Disadvantages: Lacked the secret Pastry Chef tips I had hoped for.

...result. Most people will be familiar with James Martin as the face of BBC1's Saturday Kitchen". I think most people find him a likeable down-to-earth chap and that is how he comes across in this book. The recipes are, on the whole, achievable without any special ingredients or equipment and many have a nostalgia factor from childhood. I admire a chef that includes his Grandma's Caramel Shortbread in the same book as Delice Au Cassis as it shows that he is not concerned about keeping up any pretensions as a chef but merely sharing his enthusiasm for puddings. The book is presented clearly with beautiful pictures and good sized text. In hardback format it makes a nice addition to your recipe bookshelf. I would recommend this book highly as a purchase for yourself or as a present for anyone interested in baking. I am sure James...

Martine's Musicality Magic

Advantages: Great Musical Songs.
Disadvantages: Not as good as origanal artistes.

...Martine McCutcheon's Musicality CD Who is Martine McCutcheon? Born 14th May 1976 - Hackney London - Martine trained at Italia Conti Stage School and at 15 was picked to be in girl band Milan, the toured with East 17 in 1994. It was in January 1995 they she got her big break when she was cast as Tiffany Raymond in East Enders a long running soap on BBC1. She stayed with the soap and before long 'Tiff' was a household name. Her dramatic relationship with Grant Mitchell kept viewers avidly watching, but despite her success she decided to leave the soap for good and was killed off. Coombe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park

Advantages: Interesting
Disadvantages: Terrain, Cash only for many things once inside

...Coombe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park This has all the makings of a great family day out, but I will begin with negatives first. The overflow car park is in a hilly field opposite the attraction, on a busy drizzly rainy bank holiday day like the day we went, you might end up with a couple of issues trying to get your vehicle out if the weather turned into torrential rain. However there are quite a few helpful parking attendants, some driving diggers around. The attendants are however very organized in getting people parked, but you could end up a few hundred meters away from the attraction and on a grassy hill, so bare this in mind if you are coming with a pregnant wife, young children who need push chairs, or infirm elderly relative, and on a family bank holiday outing you might have all three. I am also afraid navigating...

Central Saint Martins - Foundation Review 09.

Advantages: - you learn some important aspects that are vital for your degree.
Disadvantages: - Totally unfair UK:International and Student:Tutor time

...Central Saint Martins is known to be a good and thorough art school. The building was in a nice location, the workshops satisfactory consisting of : Wood, Metal, Ceramics, Stitch and Print. Within Foundation the classes split into - Fine Art: Painting, sculpture, contextual studies, video & photography - 3DD: Architecture, product design, jewellery, spatial design - Design: Textiles, Fashion, Fashion Communication, Graphics, Illustration, Visual Communication. My first opinion is that it was enjoyable and you get to experience most of every pathway. What was disappointing is that generally, everything seems rushed and you get a month to experience ALL of these pathways. Be warned that most of the course is rushed. When placed into your pathway (Which is a stressful process much like entering for your BA) Firstly...

The Latin Legend Ricky Martin UNPLUGGED

Advantages: Amazing songs, real music, feels like you were at the recording, subtitles in different languages
Disadvantages: People who can't understand Spanish may find it difficult to understand what Ricky says

...Ricky Martin is THE legend of Latin music and in my opinion always will be! His MTV Unplugged DVD is by far the most entertaining and cultural music DVD ever made. I really enjoy watching it! It has a 'feel good' quality about it, and is also quite educational in learning about a different culture and the Spanish/Latin American language, which I think is truly beautiful. For some reason, I felt proud watching it... it really makes you reflect on your life though, because the songs are quite emotional (not to the point of crying though. Obviously I don't cry over a song! haha). Ricky's vocals are flawless and he has his own destinctive sound. There's no gimics or editing just the live sound of Ricky's voice and very talented instrument players who have obviously rehearsed and rehearsed until they reached perfection. This live recording...

Shooting Star

Advantages: Lots of features and overall quality make it a good value buy
Disadvantages: Fiddly controls and poor software

...that you are looking for. One drawback however is once the drive is full you have to empty it before you can continue shooting. The Panasonic HDC-DX1 uses High Definition but makes use of a memory-card slot for portable storage rather than a hard disk. It is one of the first consumer high-definition camcorders to use a new Advanced Video Codec High Definition (AVCHD) recording format. It was jointly developed with Sony and is supposed to allow the camcorder to record 90 minutes of HD footage onto a compact SD (SDHC) card. This has now become a much more viable option as the cost of memory cards has plummeted and the latest camcorders like the DX1EG-S can now squeeze more footage onto even smaller files without impairing digital image quality. In practise I found that I could only squeeze about 1 hour of High Definition recording onto a 4...

Martin Strel - Slovenia's FAMOUS fish man

Advantages: Exciting, easy to read style
Disadvantages: I wanted to learn more about Martin

...' and not bother him. Maybe she's right; when Paul McCartney and she-whose-name-I-cannot-utter visited Ljubljana a few years back they were able to quietly enjoy many of the waterside cafes I regularly visit myself and while people recognised them, nobody pestered them for autographs and so on. But in February 2007 I was crossing the English Channel by ferry when I chanced to pick up a newspaper someone had discarded and this was how I became acquainted with the legend that is Martin Strel. The fifty-two year old pot-bellied Slovenian had just embarked upon his daring attempt to swim the length of the Amazon, a feat that had never before been successfully completed. The report told me that all of Slovenia was supporting this unlikely hero who had already completed major swimming achievements by swimming the length of the Danube...

Give that FLEA a TICKing off by Bob Martin!

Advantages: Not a bad price. It works.
Disadvantages: None

...It's that time of year again - fleas, bugs, ticks and the like. I've noticed my dog, Ollie, scratching quite a lot lately. (And now me after watching 'Aracnaphobia' on telly last night!). I've even managed to pick a couple of flea's off the poor dog and squash them! Urgh! So, on a recent trip to Tesco's, I bought a couple of Bob Martin products - the 'flea and tick spot on' and some spray for the home. I was dertermined to the kill those wretched flea's if it killed me! I paid £2.98 for 3 very small tubes, which will last you around 3 months. The packaging is red on top, and yellow on the bottom. The partiular one I bought is for small dogs and puppies. There is a lovely little pooch on the front of a Jack Russell, very similar to Ollie, although he's a smooth coat! On the back is all the information you will need to...

Dean Martin... Do you know him?

Advantages: 30 classic hits on one budget priced album nicely made
Disadvantages: Not remastered but not that bad really it as sounds fine

...Dino Paul Crocetti, or Dean Martin as we all know him, member of the original Rat Pack, was one of the greatest performers of his time. I purchased this CD in Virgin some time ago now, so I don't know what the going rate online for this album currently is. There are many places you can look for cheap CDs but it isn't my job to list websites, but to review this compilation CD. First of all, I'm not sure how many young people Dean would appeal to. I think the younger generation ought to be introduced to him and this album is the perfect introduction. It has all his number one hits, some obscure songs and my personal favourite, Volare. Sadly, this compilation is not remastered in any way, but in some ways it adds to the closeness you feel while listening to the album. You feel he is in the same room with you. I think this album is...

Remy Martin VSOP- an everyday cognac

Advantages: relativly cheap and blissful for an everyday cognac
Disadvantages: not as smooth as some of its equivilents such as courvosier

...A real classic from remy martin..the VSOP is really an everyday drink, suple and spicy notes. It costs around £29 per bottle (75cl) A fine smooth Cognac with rich plummy fruit flavours and aromas and a good dose of oak at the finish. this is infact a champagne cognac which ensures only the finest grapes are picked from the champagne region and if you know anything about that it will mean that the end result is usually exceptional! the congnac is distilled twice in smaller than average pots reducing inpurities. then the spirit is aged for around 7 years in smaller than average oak barrels which increase the surface area which then makes the aging process more effective..although this cognac is beautiful its nothing "special" i highly recomend stepping it up a notch to remy martin XO it costs around £90 per bottle but its a special...
