...Having just returned from what I class as a well deserved break I thought I would write about the Hotel me and my family have just returned from. I decided at the last minute really that I would book us a weekend away and began to surf the net as you do looking for not only a bargain but a nice place to stay to boot. The place I eventually chose with the help of my fiancé was the Ramada Jarvis hotel in Brighton, I have never stayed in a hotel in Brighton before having only visited once previously and having stayed in a bed and breakfast so I cannot compare it to other hotels in the Brighton area but I can compare it to other hotels throughout Britain and indeed Europe as I am fairly well travelled. Advantages: Good leisure club,nice rooms
Disadvantages: Unfriendly staff

...The Jarvis Hotel is a couple of miles north of Bristol in an area called Winterbourne. As a former country house built in the mid 19th century and with extensive grounds it has every going for it as a hotel. The Jarvis group have spent a lot of money refurbishing the place including an excellent Poolside leisure Club with swimming pool, spa, solarium and under-utilised exercise equipment. As is often the case the pool is a little small and you soon learn how a goldfish must feel swimming around the same extent of water only about 6 times your body length. The rooms in the old part of the hotel are quite spacious but you may find those in the newer part little better than a motorway lodge for size. Mr Brown, on the other hand, knows exactly how to deal with William and will stand for no nonsense. His sarcasm is another highlight of the stories, brilliantly brought out by Martin Jarvis. The Hubert Laneites are rivals of the Outlaws and take every opportunity to show William and the Outlaws up. They are known to the adults as 'good boys', because they dress smartly, always look clean and speak politely. However, William and his gang can see straight through them, which lead to many jolly japes, with the Outlaws coming out on top of course. ...The jarvis is a great place to stay. Set in a fantastic location upon the south coast. You are approx 5 mins from goodwood racecourse and motor circuit. At the right time of year you can see the glorious goodwood week and the world known festival of speed and revival festival held at the race circuit bringing back the memories of yester year. You are also two minutes from Chichester town center and 30 mins from portsmouth and worthing. The hotel itself is very stylish and as you pull up to it you feel the class it has. The entrance hall is like an inclosed paradise island courtyard. The reception is like a small building as is the hall and corridors to all rooms and facilities. The overflow car park is in a hilly field opposite the attraction, on a busy drizzly rainy bank holiday day like the day we went, you might end up with a couple of issues trying to get your vehicle out if the weather turned into torrential rain. However there are quite a few helpful parking attendants, some driving diggers around. The attendants are however very organized in getting people parked, but you could end up a few hundred meters away from the attraction and on a grassy hill, so bare this in mind if you are coming with a pregnant wife, young children who need push chairs, or infirm elderly relative, and on a family bank holiday outing you might have all three. The Latin Legend Ricky Martin UNPLUGGED

Advantages: Amazing songs, real music, feels like you were at the recording, subtitles in different languages
Disadvantages: People who can't understand Spanish may find it difficult to understand what Ricky says

...Ricky Martin is THE legend of Latin music and in my opinion always will be! His MTV Unplugged DVD is by far the most entertaining and cultural music DVD ever made. I really enjoy watching it! It has a 'feel good' quality about it, and is also quite educational in learning about a different culture and the Spanish/Latin American language, which I think is truly beautiful. For some reason, I felt proud watching it... it really makes you reflect on your life though, because the songs are quite emotional (not to the point of crying though. Obviously I don't cry over a song! haha). Ricky's vocals are flawless and he has his own destinctive sound.
