...Having just returned from what I class as a well deserved break I thought I would write about the Hotel me and my family have just returned from. I decided at the last minute really that I would book us a weekend away and began to surf the net as you do looking for not only a bargain but a nice place to stay to boot. The place I eventually chose with the help of my fiancé was the Ramada Jarvis hotel in Brighton, I have never stayed in a hotel in Brighton before having only visited once previously and having stayed in a bed and breakfast so I cannot compare it to other hotels in the Brighton area but I can compare it to other hotels throughout Britain and indeed Europe as I am fairly well travelled. ...The Jarvis Hotel is a couple of miles north of Bristol in an area called Winterbourne. As a former country house built in the mid 19th century and with extensive grounds it has every going for it as a hotel. The Jarvis group have spent a lot of money refurbishing the place including an excellent Poolside leisure Club with swimming pool, spa, solarium and under-utilised exercise equipment. As is often the case the pool is a little small and you soon learn how a goldfish must feel swimming around the same extent of water only about 6 times your body length. The rooms in the old part of the hotel are quite spacious but you may find those in the newer part little better than a motorway lodge for size. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. ...The jarvis is a great place to stay. Set in a fantastic location upon the south coast. You are approx 5 mins from goodwood racecourse and motor circuit. At the right time of year you can see the glorious goodwood week and the world known festival of speed and revival festival held at the race circuit bringing back the memories of yester year. You are also two minutes from Chichester town center and 30 mins from portsmouth and worthing. The hotel itself is very stylish and as you pull up to it you feel the class it has. The entrance hall is like an inclosed paradise island courtyard. The reception is like a small building as is the hall and corridors to all rooms and facilities. Why it may not be Pulp, Jarvis maintains his solid solo catalogue

Advantages: Excellent, witty lyrics with a decent range of style. Jarvis is just too cool..
Disadvantages: No real 'big hitter' of a track that you'd find on a Pulp album if your a more general listener

...After his first release which I thought was fairly solid (Although the more hardcore Pulp fans may disagree) it was always going to be a steep gradient for Mr. Cocker to climb, especially as many regard him as 'that bloke who mooned Michael Jackson'. I always thought this was a pity as I and many others regard him as the Britpop King and no matter what you think of him, he produced some of the finest Britpop of the 90's. Further Complications is Jarvis' attempt towards a more indie Brit rock album which still oozes the class of a brilliant frontman. The title track is certainly a great opener, catchy and witty which pretty much sums up the rest of the Album. Advantages: Brilliant narration by Martin Jarvis
Disadvantages: Too short!

...the DVDs. Conclusion I imagine that Just William will still be popular with children nowadays, although I am not sure how easily available the books are. The stories are old-fashioned, which could need a little explaining at times - for example, stories from during wartime involve evacuees and bomb shelters, something children of today will know very little. Like many children's books, reading them as an adult means that you can appreciate the humour and sarcasm that the author has included. Personally, I love this audio book and have listened to it time after time. Martin Jarvis brings the stories to life in a way that I have never heard from any other narrator. He really is excellent at changing his voice to suit the different characters and it is well worth listening just for him. He sounds as if he is having great fun while reading...
