...Hurting distance is a book I bought from Amazon because of the reviews on here, and it seemed like my kind of book. It has rape, murder, mystery and two women whom it appears do not know the meaning of truth...which led me to believe that it would be a fairly gripping book...yes, I have a morbid taste in books. ...Hurting Distance - Sophie Hannah I bought this book at my local Tesco on a buy two for £7.00 deal and it was well worth it. I'm an avid reader and have read about 12 books this month of all different types. I tend to pick books by reading the back cover and then the first page and if it grips me immediately then I can't leave it behind. The back of this book says "Three years ago, something terrible happened to Naomi Jenkins - so terrible she never told anyone" and the first page is an email she has written to a website called "Speak out and Survive"; you know then from the first page what Naomi's secret is, she's been raped. No I'm not giving the plot away, far from it, that's what I thought as well when I read it. I then though oh well; I'll give it a go anyway. The next chapter is about a man she is deeply in love...

This is why: ***WHAT DOES IT OFFER?*** Marie-Claire is a fashion magazine with special interest articles aimed at women. It's motto is "Fashion With Heart" and it is priced at £3.30. This month's issue (Jan) has 244 pages, plus a 32 page special about hair at the back (confusingly upside down). It has an expensive glossy feel to it with heavy quality pages. However a rough estimation tells me that over 50% of it's content is ads!!. In fact, I leaf through 8 pages of ads before I even get to the editorial. ...DVD player controls, the aim of the game is to help Uncle Albert come down from the ceiling following a laughing fit. Mary Poppins' umbrella asks you questions and you select an item from Uncle Albert's room that answers the question. It is quite easy and interesting to see how much attention you paid when watching. When you get an answer right Uncle Albert comes down a bit but if you get one wrong he moves towards the ceiling. I imagine children would enjoy doing it after watching the film. The variety of questions is small but as bonus material, its lots of fun and unique to the usual bonus stuff on DVDs. *** Tuppence A Bag? *** It's currently available from Amazon for £11.95. Play.com (free P&P) are selling the 40th Anniversary Edition for £15.99 - not as cheap as films as old as this but still reasonable and well worth it...
