...MARIE - CLAIRE I used to buy this magazine in my twenties, but then stopped. I now only read it at the hairdressers. This is why: ***WHAT DOES IT OFFER?*** Marie-Claire is a fashion magazine with special interest articles aimed at women. It's motto is "Fashion With Heart" and it is priced at £3.30. This month's issue (Jan) has 244 pages, plus a 32 page special about hair at the back (confusingly upside down). It has an expensive glossy feel to it with heavy quality pages. However a rough estimation tells me that over 50% of it's content is ads!!. In fact, I leaf through 8 pages of ads before I even get to the editorial. Many of the ads are for high end designer companies such as Prada, Gucci and Armani. Advantages: Interesting plot, connect with main character, insight into killer's mind, suspenseful

There are a series of murders which become called the ?Hollywood murders?, and Alex is called in to help. Celebrities are being murdered, and then the killer releases an e-mail to the press (addressed to his victims). The e-mails are from a "Mary Smith", which is how this book gets its name. Unfortunately, this does not bode well for Alex?s personal life, especially at this time, because of custody issues with his son. Alex is forced to deal with his ex-wife taking their son, while taking on a case of a serial killer who has publicised his intent to commit more murders. Members: Candi, JoJo, Cherri and Maxi made it big with several hits of this album, and it made the LA-raised, Motown signees shoot to fame at the time. 1. ?Candy Man? The album begins with one of their up-tempo singles from this. ...this a memorable film. I think these songs will be remembered for a long time. Some of the other songs are; A spoonful of sugar, helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down. This was sung in a scene when the children were taking some medicine. Supercalifragilistic expialidocious, even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious. ...It was in the first of a series of books that the character of Mary Poppins arrived, carried by the east wind, at Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane. This book was published in 1934 but after that the books "Mary Poppins Comes Back", "Mary Poppins Opens the Door" and Mary Poppins In The Park" were also printed. The author of the books P.L. Travers was unconvinced that a film would do the books and the characters justice but eventually she relented and in 1964, 'Mary Poppins' the film was released. It took Disney just over two years to complete and throughout there was conflict between Disney and Travers. Despite this, the film still captured a magical, timeless story. St Mary's stadium

Advantages: Perfect example of a great championship stadium with a great level of football!
Disadvantages: Can get busy in eating area at half time

...I am not personally a Southampton fan (and nor am I a Portsmouth fan), I actually support Southend United, but I recently moved down to this area and many of my friends support Southampton. Last Friday I was asked by my fiend, who is an avid Saints fan if I wanted to go with him to watch them play at home in a friendly against Celtic and so I said yes. It was a great match and despite Celtic winning 2-0 the atmosphere was great and I really enjoyed myself. I have now visited many different stadiums in my time from very small league 2 team grounds, some with standing sections and the great Nou Camp which I recently reviewed. However, I was pleasantly surprised by St Marys - the home ground for Southampton FC and really enjoyed my visit there. Mary, Mary, so contrary, how does the killing go?

Advantages: an extremely gripping read

...I have to admit that generally when choosing something to read I am drawn towards contemporary female writers, but occasionally I feel like reading something which has a bit of suspense and who better to supply it than James Patterson? Patterson is a prolific American writer with over twenty books to his credit. 'Mary, Mary' is the latest in a series of books about detective Alex Cross, now an FBI agent. Alex is a psychiatric doctor who is often called in to help solve serial killer crimes by working out the profile of the killer. You don't have to have read the previous novels to enjoy 'Mary, Mary' although there are references to some of the earlier cases Alex has worked on. All the novels in the Alex Cross series have nursery rhymes in their titles which is the same with 'Mary, Mary' but there is no further mention to the rhyme...
