The best Disney movie ever (Mary Poppins)

Advantages: Great for the whole family
Disadvantages: you will go around singing "A spoonful of sugar"

...In my opinion Mary Poppins is one of the best Disney movies ever made. This musical was filmed in the 1960's but film is set in London around 1910. It is about a magical Nanny named Mary Poppins who comes flying in on her umbrella to take up the post of "Nanny, for two adorable children" Jane and Michael Banks. they soon discover that "she's tricky" as she takes them on the most extraordinary outings, such as jumping in and out of chalk pavement pictures, cavorting with race horse persons, tea parties on the ceiling. Mary Poppins has promised to stay until the wind changes, then when it does she just up and flies away again on her umbrella, whilst Jane and Michael are out flying their kite with their parents. ...Mary poppins is a timeless classic,it's a great film for all ages This disney film is great the songs are easy to learn so the children and yourself can seat down and have a song along, the song include a spoonful of sugar,lets go fly a kite and many more My little girl wanted this film when we went shopping she picked up this film because the cover was eye catching it was ever so colourful The story starts of with george banks working in a bank George neglects his children(jane and michael) and wants to hire a nanny jane and Micheal start writing a letter asking for a nanny but there father tears it up and throws it in the fire the letter than ends up with Mary poppins . ...As a child i can remember once the video player came along, my grandparents shoving us in front of the tele and putting on various disney films but the one i remember most has always been Mary Poppins. I have always enjoyed the films that Julie Andrews did, only this christmas i found my self glued to The Sound of Music and singing along at the top of my voice, but the one film i always go back to is Mary Poppins. As it says on the front of my video "winner of 5 Oscars" only five, now surely that must be wrong it must have been more than that but apparently not. Mary Poppins is your guardian angel of Nanny's not that i have anything against them as i used to be one, and if only i could have been her, the bag that goes every where with her can actually carry the entire contents of your house, any shape or size object...

...I was in New York for my sister's 40th and we decided to take in a day in New York City and catch a musical. My brother-in-law had no idea what to go for, we had children to cater for as well so we decided to check out Mary Poppins on Broadway. With Christmas coming up I thought I would review a classic that will probably be on TV at some point over the festive season. I also think this is a great gift for any child or adult this Christmas if you are stick for ideas! My Thoughts: Mary Poppins is a great magical light hearted musical for all ages; it is full of multi colour wit the combination of animation and real life. The special effects used in this film are simple but effective. The use of song and dance helps to bring the characters to life and will have you singing along at home. When I was little I used to watch this film over and over and never got bored of it, I even dressed up as Mary Poppins...

"It's a jolly Holiday with Mary!"

Advantages: Having a good old sing along with it!
Disadvantages: My three year old wants it on constantly! (I dont mind really!)

...Mary Poppins. DVD. After reading my previous review of ?Mary Poppins? I thought it deserved much more. It has also helped that my daughter has since made me sit through it a million times so I know it word for word! Viewing it as an adult now several things have come to my attention about the characters. I bought this for my daughter and thought it would be too old for her and she wouldn?t pay attention. I was very wrong. God help me if I don?t let her watch it at least once a day, it?s not worth the tears. My partner grumpily put it in the bin one night when she was really naughty and later that night we were in the bin scraping baked beans off it. She loves it. Characters.
