They?ve altered their name, now insisting upon Matchbox Twenty, as opposed to Matchbox 20. Their lyrics have developed a little more insight, and there?s a little less anger, and a smoother edge to their music. Is this better? Well, it depends on how you look at it. This album has more instant appeal to the first one. You like it from the moment it goes on. The first album was a ?grower? ? you like it, but perhaps not immediately. Advantages: All the hits together
Disadvantages: it will make you wish you were there

...Show - A night in the life of matchbox twenty is the first and only DVD so far from this american band. It was recored in 2003 on their tour world tour for the album "More than you think you are". This show was recored in Atlanta and was almost identical to all the other shows for that tour. I know as i saw them on this tour and this DVD creates the magic of one of the best live performances i have been too. They play all the favourites from the three albums, "Yourself or someone like you", "Madseason" and "More than you think you are". There is also a documentery that acompanies the DVD that follows them around before the gig, showing how they set up the stage, sort out the lights ect. I would say that this is something that is for the fans. If you are not a fan then this proberly wouldnt appel as you wouldnt know the songs and see just...

...This is the first offering from Matchbox Twenty since 2002's release "More than you think you are". This album is in essence a greatest hits, although it does have 6 new tracks on. This makes it a must have for all Matchbox fans. There are also the older tracks for the people who are new to Matchbox and i feel there may be after the success of Rob Thomas's solo efforts. The new songs are in the same vein as older tracks with the lead single "How far we've come", which i see at a little attack on certain governments. The other tracks are also good with a mixture of pop and melodic songs. "These hard times" is my personal favourite, which has some good vocal ranges for Robs voice and some thought provoking lyrics. ...When I first got a copy of ?More Than You Think You Are?, I was distinctly unimpressed. For the first time, a Matchbox Twenty album didn?t immediately grab me and make me want to put it on constant play. The problem was that, on first listen, it didn?t seem entirely like either of their previous albums, which had grabbed me for different reasons ? the lyrical thoughtfulness of their second album ?Mad Season? or the more rocking style of their debut ?Yourself or Someone Like You?. It took a visit to the USA last year for me to start getting into the album. The American Airlines flight we were on had a track from the album on one of the in-flight ?radio? stations and, while we were there, MTV was playing ?Unwell? on their daily chart countdown. More than you think you are

Advantages: Rob Thomas, fine music, suits all moods
Disadvantages: having to press the play button again after its finished!

...contains 12 songs and is 50 minutes long. I wont write about every song as that would probably bore you all to tears and we all know that water and electricity don't mix too well, so instead of facing a few counts of murder by poor writing, ill just write about some of the songs on the album. FEEL. Opening an album with a crushing riff is always good in my book, so thankfully the matchbox boys have already won me over with this. Already the band sound a lot rockier than on either of their previous albums and this shows a lot of potential for future releases. musically this track is quite fierce and rough sounding using the guitars to great effect and mixing in the odd extra instrument to create a real wall of sound that just begs to be jumped around to. Rob Thomas' vocals just seem to improve with each album he does and again...
