Maths has gone boring

Advantages: When you put it down and not using it
Disadvantages: Everything

...Do you enjoy maths? Or are you someone who struggles to get to grips with maths as a subject? Either way the idea of this game is for you to learn and get increasingly better each day you take part in the challenges you are given. Sadly the game is not so good and makes it very unlikely you would want to keep learning. The game -------------- I enjoy maths so much so I got this game because I assumed it would assist me with my mathematics and because I was doing it more frequently at work I thought why not. The game is basically set out in a diary, you turn up each day and get to do some challenges. You begin on level one which is basic maths and to be fair simple as can be, but it might be hard for some others out there. You do 3 challenges and once you do them as quickly as you can you then finish for the day and you get to move...

Professor Kageyama's Maths Training

Advantages: Gameplay, graphics
Disadvantages: Sound, more multiplayer options

...Maths is one of the world's biggest subjects. There are always numbers everywhere, but if you're a bit rough at Maths, and have a DS/DSi and want Maths to be fun then just buy Professor Kageyma's Maths Training! GAMEPLAY You create a user account, (up to three) and then you can take a Daily Test, practice the exercises or use the Kageyama Method. DAILY TEST Here is where you will do your daily test, if you have 5 good days on a level (e.g. Level 1), you'll advance to the next level! KAGEYAMA METHOD This is Professor Kageyma's special Math method. You get given a grid with some numbers going vertically and horizontally, then you need to add the numbers going vertically by the numbers going horizontally until you've completed one vertical row, and you begin on the next vertical row and so on. PRACTICE EXERCISES This is simply where...

Maths can be Magic

Advantages: entertaining and fun and gripping!
Disadvantages: None

...I have just watched my husband play this game with two of our children. All three of them were enjoying themselves while doinng Mathe. This game does not try to pretend it is any thing else but a maths game. The game comes with a board with 256 squares marked on it and 84 square tiles. Each tile has 4 triangles on it, each triangle is one of 4 colours and has a number in it. The colours represent different mathematical functions. Blue - subtraction Green - Multiplication Yellow - Addition Red - Division Each player takes 5 tiles and they take it in turn to place them on the board a bit like dominos matching colours. When a tile is placed next to other tiles the score for that go is calculated by working out the result of each junction. e.g if a tile is placed with 2 yellows together you add the numbers...

Maths + English = A Good Dizzee Rascal Album

Advantages: Lots of variety
Disadvantages: Some weak tracks

..."Maths + English" is the third album form the UK Grime artist, Dizzee Rascal. He is a London MC who brought UK Hip Hop and Grime to the mainstream. This album was released on the 4th of June last year and peaked at number 7, one better than he previous album from 2004. The title refers to the two components of the album which he had a part in 'Maths', the production and 'English', the lyrics. 1. World Outside **Three Stars** To kick us off, we have a short track which tells all the young black males in the UK that they have to realize that the world is bigger than the area that they live in , because this is what s letting them down. If these people expand, then they can move on from the detrimental things which are holding them back in life. I like that he was doing something in order to spread his experience to people who...

Professor Kageyamas Maths Boring

Advantages: The DS cart fits perfectly into the machine
Disadvantages: Tedious, Slow-going, Unenjoyable

..., the number recognition system is, to be honest, hopeless. Everyone remembers being round a friends house and beating their mate only for him/her to blame it on a glitch. Well now you can blame it on the machine, as then umbers will not be able to be recognised every time. Be prepared to be at the brink of a high score only to lose it at the fateful hands of the game. Also, this game is very boring. As you only start off with very simple sums, the only way to get to to the harder sums (oh joy!) is to painstakingly let the machine insult your intelligence by asking what '2+2" equals (it isn't five!). Most of all, this game basically is like having your maths lessons come back to you. If you enjoy maths and are fascinated by numbers, then i recommend this game to you, but if not, then spend your well-earned money on a fun game....

Maths practice for 11-year-olds

Advantages: Plenty of practice, excellent value
Disadvantages: Some pages are repetitive

...advice such as using a thermometer to assist in understanding negative numbers, and the fact that a fraction can be converted to a percentage by multiplying by 100. It takes for granted, however, that parents will understand concepts such as the 'trial and improvement method', which might not necessarily be the case. At the recommended price of £2.99, I would say that this is excellent value compared to other similar workbooks that are available, usually at a price of £3.99 or £4.50. Maths Made Easy is less colourful and perhaps therefore less appealing to children than most of the others, but that does not mean that its content is less valuable. There is at least the reward of a gold star for every page completed, and a small certificate (on the inside cover) once the whole workbook is finished. There is a feeling that too much...

Maths and English (Dizzee Rascal) review

Advantages: Lyrically and musically diverse.
Disadvantages: some weak songs. not as good as showtime.

...gangsta and that porsche looks great. but do you really want it sittin on a council estate?" Dizzee has moved somewhat out of the underground theme with this album in an attempt to gain a more mainstream audience. Songs such as Hardback (industry) detail the ups and downs within a record label and his use of other artists such as the arctic monkeys and lily allen add to this. Hardcore fans may feel betrayed by such a move seeing it as catering to the middle classes whom obviously have the bigger pockets. On the other hand Maths and English still retains Dizzees distinctive offbeat sound and well delivered interesting lyrics detailing his life and the lives of those around him. I think that Dizzee was attempting to do what Mike Skinner and the Streets achieved with a Grand Dont Come For Free. Trying to widen the fan base...

Fizz Buzz - Buzzy mental maths games!

Advantages: Easy to read and understand, useful starting points
Disadvantages: Would look better if the pages were in colour

...I have used this with my mixed age (and very mixed ability) Y4, 5 and 6 class. They love some of these games! A range of strategies are used to make mental maths interesting (no more sitting at a desk mindlessly chanting multiplicatio tables). It uses a variety of approaches - visual, aural and kinaesthetic. Each activity is classified according to which aspect of the numeracy strategy it links with and includes suggestions for the following strands - Using and applying, counting and understanding number, knowing and understanding number facts and calculating. Each activity is carefully explained and approximate timings for each are given. Some activities are easier than others and as always - some will become firm favourites, whilst others will fall by the wayside. This is an excellent starting point for developing your own activities...
