PS3 slim

Advantages: Blu-ray, free online, nice extras like vidzone & iplayer. Almost silent operation
Disadvantages: Rubbish controller, still expensive, online nowhere near as good as xbox live

...Well, had the slim for a few weeks now (my 1st ever playstation), personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by it, I've been a gamer since the nintendo game & watch days & owned @ least 1 of the current gen consoles since the Mega Drive(Genesis). Graphically the system has the potential to wipe the floor with the 360, but this is really only going to apply to PS3 exclusives as any software house making a multi-platform game is going to be as cost effective (lazy) as possible & use the same graphics on all the games where possible(ok, they need to dumb them down for the Wii). My problem here is that I have yet to get a game for it that runs in 1080P, they all seem to be in 720P! Why???? I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't found one yet. I guess this is down to most HD tv's being HD ready rather than Full HD. Sound-Yeah, ok...

Advantages: Stylish, good games available + lots more on the way, blu ray
Disadvantages: No HD cable in the box, no rumble, limited BC

After the stellar performance of the PlayStation 2 and launch of its two rivals the Wii and Xbox 360 the PS3 has a tough act to follow. ...Hi people, You have just come across part three of my DVD saga. I have chosen another top film to review, which has to be the Matrix. The first time I watched this film was quite a long time ago but I have seen it over and over and not got bored. There again I am the sort of person that never gets bored of films I really adore. This film has to be one of my all time favourite Sci-Fi films including Star Wars and Fifth Element. Being quite a recent film it is packed full of special effects being explosions and so on. When you are watching the first part of the film you won't have a clue what is going on. Well see if you understand people disappearing in phone boxes the first time you watch this. Advantages: Cheap Blu-Ray player, great graphics, free wifi, internet browser
Disadvantages: Expensive, some games are better on 360, 40 GB model doesn't have backwards compatability

...There are probably 3 categories of consumer: (1) Gamers with a HD TV who are also quite interested in the multimedia/blue ray angle. (2) Serious gamers either without a HD TV or who are not interested in high def for films etc.. (3) HD TV/ multimedia people who are not that interested in games. If you are in (1) or (3) categories then this is a bargain at the moment. One of the cheapest/best blue ray players with constant support. Now upscales dvds and supports divx etc.. Supports the very latest version of blu ray and is future proof. Sony can not afford to have this fail and the constant updates are great and frequent. Also of advantage (over other systems) are: Low failure rate, built in wifi (even on 40 gb model), no external plug, no external hd-dvd (blu ray built in), no annual online fees. ...I got one last year for Christmas and found it to be better than my XBox 360 in almost every area, in my opinion this truly is the best games console on the market and would recommend it to anyone who is into their gaming. The matrix

Advantages: great acting, great soundtrack
Disadvantages: 3 is two to many

...I have to admit The Matrix is not really my kind of film, this was a present I bought for my hubby last year and he loves it. I paid £29.99 from play.com and it was worth every penny. You can get it much cheaper on ebay now but hey it's a year on. I'm not a big sci fi fan but I don't mind The Matrix, I like the sound track, I like Laurence Fishburne, and I like agent Smith, but for me the story is a little far fetched. Any way, enough of my likes and dislikes on with the review. The acting is brilliant in these films, all the characters are strong and the actors play them perfectly. Keanu shaved his head, vomited and had sex scenes. Fishburne, is shot at, beaten up, happy, sad and dumfounded. Everything is done perfectly. This is the 3 DVD Matrix box set.
