Cheap and good
Review of Matsui CD18 by WAD1-2-3

Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -

...I have had one of these CD players for quite a few years now. Although, I would say it is very basic it has been very reliable and has worked well and continues to do so. It only cost me about £28 and I have never had any problem with it. The best word to describe the Matsui CD18 is that it is very basic perfect for students who live in Halls. The sound quality is really good and you get a cd/tape and radio functions which is all you basically means. However, you get no gimmicks like remote control and there’s no Longwave on the radio settings but you can learn to live without it. The speakers aren’t the best looking but the sound quality is good and they don’t crackle like some speakers if you put a song on full blast. To put a CD in you have to lift the CD bit and it doesn’t even have a repeat mode... Read review

High price to pay for poor quality
Review of Matsui CD11 by Kingkarliii

Advantages: small and light
Disadvantages: Rubbish antenna and cuts out if played too loud

...We, being my partner and I decided that we wanted a little CD Player for the kitchen, that was not too expensive. So we done our usual routine of shop hunting and catalogue checking. After much deliberation we decided to go for the Matsui CD11. ***Shape & Style*** It is a rounded bubbly-looking silver/grey CD player, with two black speakers built in, one on each side. With Matsui clearly stamped on the front. the CD. The CD tray is on the top and has to be manually opened. thereis a LCD screen on top as well that just displays the track number you are playing ***Features*** This CD player ghas all the basic buttons, play/pause, stop,skip/FFW, skipback/REW and repeat button. As well as this it has two dials, one on either side. The first one on the left is the volume control and the one on the right is the radio tuner. There is also... Read review

Cheap, smart and solid!
Review of Matsui CD18 by BessieBadger

Advantages: Takes up much less space than conventional model
Disadvantages: None

...Last Christmas I was looking for a portable radio/cassette/CD player, but as it was for my bedroom I wanted the smallest one possible. I found that Dixon's had a new model out, one where the CD is placed vertically instead of horizontally and therefore takes up much less space. I was very sceptical as it was new and so cheap, but decided to buy it and try it. It is brilliant! The casing is plastic although it doesnt' look cheap and it's easy to use and light to carry around. The sound quality is excellent on the radio, tapes and CD player. I have compared it with much more expensive models and for the price it beats them all. Used daily, it is proving a thoroughly good buy!... Read review

Cheap, Tacky and Portable
Review of Matsui CD18 by JSPorter

Advantages: cheap. has tape cd and radio
Disadvantages: tacky. sound quality isnt perfect

...For those of you who are searching the market for a basic CD, Tape and Radio all in one product, this little number is the one for you. At an amazing £30 it is the cheapest package on the market. Sold at most electrical stores, it is also very easy to get hold of. When you pay £30 for a CD player, you really wouldn't expect to receive a tape and radio aswell would you. However with this system, you get what you pay for. Don't get me wrong, the sound quality is OK, its not perfect, but then the speakers are small and cheap looking. The system can be bought in three different colours, grey, blac and blue. It is very plasticy, but then this is the most basic music player on the market. The CD is loaded vertically. You have to pull down the flap yourself via a little handle at the side. The Cd is controlled at the top of the player... Read review

small, sleek, stylish and will GET YOU OUT OF BED!
Review of Matsui CDCR200 by markat1984

Advantages: multi-function,alarm,cd player, radio.great sound and extremely useful plus small and sleek!
Disadvantages: annoying when ur not expecting it to wake you up!!!

...i bought this product originally just for the alarm clock because i find it had getting up in the mornings without a decent loud alarm, and this one has 3: CD PLAYER ALARM BUZZING ALARM RADIO ALARM having this choice is great, if you just want the simple but annoying buzzing in the morning you can hav the buzzing alarm, or if you want to wake up to your favorite tune blazzing away then pop in a cd and set it up for your self in the morning to put a spring in your step! or you can set up your favourite radio station so you can wake up to the sound of your favourite dj.and also there is the handy MUST HAVE for a alarm clock, the SNOOZE button which gives you an extra 10mins in bed,AWESOME! but other than the alarm clock this product can also roll off your favourite tunes on cd or off the radio whenever you want to. it may well be small... DABtastic
Review of Matsui DA-1 by wildtinsey

Advantages: Cheap DAB upgrade
Disadvantages: Not everyone can get a signal

...This was sold in places like Comets and Currys a few years back. I bought it to enable me to be able to listen to digital audio broadcast (DAB) radio through my hi-fi before i acquired my Pure Evoke 1xt. It cost in the region of £70 at that time. It is a small unit 15cm wide and 6cm tall. It is attached to the hi-fi via the auxillary inputs. The leads that you require to do this are not included and have to be purchased seperately. A few pounds normally. Matsui recommend acquiring the lead from partsmaster (0870 600 1338) but it would be cheaper elsewhere. It will attached to any audio product that has an auxillary input such as hi-fi systems, DVD home theatre systems and CD cassette players. It is well packaged in a box that contains the unit and a remote control. As is usually the case the remote control requires batteries which... Read review

Radio Rentals or Boxclever
Review of Radio Rentals (Shop) by belinda9

Advantages: Change when you like.
Disadvantages: Changing name

...I have worked for Radio Rentals for over three years and we have just gone through a merger with Granada Home technology. The new name is called Boxclever. We lauch our store in March as Boxclever. I myself has never rented but if i found myself with no money at least you don't need no deposit unlike Currys , Comet etc. All we ask for is one month in advance and an admin fee of £20.00 There is more of a range of goods now than what the previous person said in their opinion. As for "We've never heard of D.VDs) well all I can say is we were waiting until the recordable DVDs were launched. Now that we have them in the shop people complain they are too expensive. Only because they want to pay Bush or Matsui prices, you only get what you pay for. We deal in Sony Wega Flat Screen T.Vs, Sanyo Flat Screen, Panasonic Flatscreen, Hitachi... Read review

Cheap and Cheerful
Review of Matsui 110 by ccaadaw

Advantages: Excellent value for money
Disadvantages: No extra features, such Video CD capability

...Although Matsui's DVD player may well be at the bottom of the price range, it most certainly isn't at the same level for quality. I have had mine since it first came on to the market and haven't had any problems whatsoever. It can be chipped to play multi region DVDs by a series of commands from the remote control, and can handle playing these without any hastle. I have watched DVDs on other models such as a Samsung, and I am yet to find any better quality of picture or sound. OK, the more expensive models have extra features, but for a low cost and for someone who is just after a straight foward DVD player, no frills, then the Matsui is my first choice. Cheap and Cheerful.... Read review

Cheap, But Good
Review of Matsui Mission M 196 T Microwave by Mission

Advantages: High Wattage (900)
Disadvantages: Slightly noisy

...I initialy bought this model because it was cheap (£89.99p) and I needed one quickly after the demise of my Sharp Microwave (600 watt). My first impression of this model was how powerful it was compared to the Sharp. Scambled Eggs are cooked to perfection in only two mins compared to four mins in the Sharp. The controls are fairly simple, after you get used to them and the manual is very comprehensive. The only down side of the Matsui is that it is fairly noisy in operation, but that is only a small point taking into consideration the amount of time it is in use. Overall a very good aplliance for not a lot of money.... Read review

Dixons employees opionion of M 14
Review of Grundig M 14 by Chris3

Advantages: Abover average sound, good easy to sue features, looks smart and well priced.
Disadvantages: Playing material recorded on it is poor

...I have worked at Dixons for 18 months now and high indepth knowledge (yes some Dixons employees do know what they are talking about) and as I specialize in audio I have sued most hi-fi systems available. My opionion on all Grundig products is very low. The last Gundig I bought was a long time ago and it broke down three times. Grundig are economy manufatures. Yes their prices are good but AIWA do some very good budget systems for not much extra and the differnence in quality amazing (MD-300 for one). You mayu have also come across Matsui (Dixons own budget brand), Venturer, Pro Line, Bush and, Alba and Goodmans. All these are made my Grundig using the same parts. If you are going to go for a budget, you can save yourself more money by looking for a similar product by one of these manufactures (some are suprisingly similar in every... Read review
