I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Just how many lawn mower varieties does a universe need? I came across at least ten different manufacturers, each with a bewilderingly 'not quite the same' range. Mcculloch themselves have a staggering twelve variations of petrol mower (that I could discover on the Internet). If that is representative of all manufacturers then there must be around 120 subtly different machines to choose from.
In making my choice I identified two important issues. The price needed to be under £200. I have a largish garden so I decided on an 18 inch or 46 cm cut width (they seem to range from 40 up to 53 cm)
Things that didn't seem so relevant turned out to be:
~ mulching - I already have a big moss and thatch problem
~ roller - not really fussed about making pretty stripes and adds £70 to the cost
~ grass collector...

A good dose of reality, from the standpoint of Annie!

...As part of the book club that me and my friends run at work, I came across this little gem of a read.
The book I will now review is ? Liverpool Annie by Maureen Lee?.
The book starts in a war ravaged Liverpool, and centres around a young girl called Annie.
The entire book revolves around her from her youth as the eldest of two. Brought up by her Auntie Dot due to her mother suffering from what the doctors can only describe as shell shock, she suffers from a lack of affection from her parents.
Then after a terrible incident involving her parents her life propels her to become self sufficient, getting herself a flat and the social life that she have had in her youth, instead of being effectively a carer for her than ailing parents.
She finally finds love and feels that she has grown up, but then tragedy strikes again, will...

...of the three degrees and have so many diplomas, I am just plain dippy.
L is for Love and Laughter. Both essentials towards my quest for joy. Fortunately, I have a wonderful close-knit loving family, hubby and three children, mum and dad live next door, and two sisters.
M is for Me, Maureen and for my mine passion that for music. My main musical interest is in the tonal music of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras but I also enjoy a wide range of styles including country and western and heavy metal.
N is for Nursing. I started my career within nursing. In the days of my training, we wore the stern striped uniforms with starched aprons and paper hats, hair drawn tightly back into a bun ? a far cry from the trousers and tops of my daughter?s uniforms today.
O is for Owls. My husband is planning to purchase me two beautiful barn owls...

Never judge a book by a boring cover
Advantages: Action packed throughout, a story you can relate to so much it could be real life
Disadvantages: Skips towards large age chunks towards the end
...real life easily all the stories and situations are very real life and dare I say quite common, ok maybe not all the romance but certainly the war and abuse behind the story.
The book is about abuse, prostitution, love and war. I know a lot of people wont read stories that include abuse in, but I can assure you this book is not over the top its not overly descriptive and it doesn't dwell on these issues it very sad in sections but upbeat in a lot more so you get a mix of emotions in a very short space of time. I would recommend everyone who likes to read stories about love and general life long problems because these are all definitely covered.
This is truly an amazing read, its fascinating, gripping, heart wrenching and realistic. For me a total 10/10 book.

...My recent quest for FREE DVD hire I visited and many DVD web sites that offered a free trial. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so.
My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk.
Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. With Blockbuster?s things are different slightly ? which add a great deal of benefit to us the customer. Firstly, you get FOUR whole weeks free rental, which equates to at double the length of time most...
