AMD's Phenom II 3Ghz Beast!
Advantages: Highly overclockable, will eat, chew and spit out anything! PRICE!!!!
Disadvantages: its milli seconds slower than the I7! so no disadvantages at all!!!
...On for my 7th review!!
I bought this remarkable peice of kit approximately 3 months ago, and i have to say it certainly does NOT disappoint!
With masses and masses of power it will spit out anything with grace and style and is the equivelant to using a nuclear device to knock off a door! full on over kill but done with pure style and less mushrooming and carnage!
so the basic standard is 3Ghz x4 when it comes out of the box... ok, so for many times as much you can have Pentiums I7 with more oomph and quicker! but the AMD comes into its own when you decide to overclock the already beastly device! i have read in bench tests it has peaked at 5Ghz! but definitely not recommended! i think 3.5-4Ghz is a safe bet, for standard cooling and pre-set voltages..... but that is still a whopping 14Ghz of combined power! BEASTLY is an understatement...

Maxdata Maximumfantastica
Advantages: Great repair service, Inclusive guarantee, Relatively cheap
Disadvantages: Dodgy port covers
...I have owned a maxdata laptop since August 2000 and in that time I have found it pretty good actually.
For the purposes of comaprison I own a maxdata 650T, a P3 700MHz with DVD Drive 128Mb Ram with an 11Gb HDD. In addition I am sharing a house with 4 other guys all who own laptops so I feel that this is a fair comparison of its abilities
How easy is it to get started?
Very! I got that baby ticking away within 30 minutes. The Operating system needed to be installed which was done quickly via good company instructions and a fast processor. Being a laptop there wasn't a great deal to do after that except install all device drivers and get plugging away!
Speed
From my experience runs like a dream. Boots up fast shuts down fast and processes just generally very quickly. it should be noted that it appears to slow down more than...

HP Pavilion zv5368EA Laptop Review
Advantages: Powerful, good as a desktop replacement
Disadvantages: Poor battery life, heavy and noisy
...I bought this laptop in 2004 and it is still working reasonably well. The laptop is very powerful (compared to other laptops available at the time) and fast allowing the use of graphics and processor intensive programs like games.
It has a 3GHz Pentium 4 processor which I'm sure was designed for desktops as it has poor battery life and is very noisy. It is also quite heavy so I would say its overall portability is poor.
The screen size is 15.4" and it comes with 512MB of RAM which was enough for a while but I eventually upgraded. The reliability is OK but the CD/DVD drive in mine has always had problems reading and writing to some types of discs (reads and writes to CD-R and DVD+RW fine but not with CD-RW or DVD+R).
The battery can now only operate for a few minutes (probably because I left it charged for long periods of time...

P4P800-VM, Best P4 Micro-ATX Board.
Advantages: 800FSB P4 support, SATA, 8 USB2 connections, AGP 8X and 6ch Sound with SPDIF
Disadvantages: ASUS motherboard site can be down at times
...Without a doubt one of the most powerful feature packed Micro-ATX Boards ever to roll out of the ASUS factory.
This small form factor motherboard using the intel i865 chipset which will take right up the the latest(at time of writing) 3.4 Ghz CPUs, as well as the newer Prescott CPUs with increased Cache and even Extreme edition CPUs.
Add to that an impressive array of onboard features including:
8 USB2 Ports(4 on the rear I/O shield, and PCI plate which will allow you to connect a further 4 from USB headers which are useful for cases with front usb connectors)
Onboard 10/100 Lan. For connecting to a home network or router for internet access or file sharing.
Dual Channel DDR 400. Dual channel is basically a way of putting in two identical sticks of rm, for example 2x 512mb crucial 3200, and the motherboard splits...

A good mid-range motherboard for P4 CPUs
Advantages: Inexpenisve, good performance, lots of ports and slots
Disadvantages: Ports a bit cluttered, no WiFi
...Asus P4S800
Asus have always done a pretty good job at making motherboards. Since my second computer I’ve gone for nothing but Asus when it came to choosing internal components for my home made machines. Looking for a new motherboard I came across this one – a motherboard based on one of the latest Intel chipsets 865PE.
This version of the motherboard is the basic stripped down one, with other more expensive versions of the card available, such as the Wireless and Deluxe editions. I honesty don’t see much point in paying more money for wireless that I don’t use and more ports and things since this has more than enough even for someone as demanding as myself.
Design:
The main issue with this motherboard is its design. Don’t get me wrong – it looks good, not that it matters considering it’s going to be hidden away in your...

MSI PM9M-V P4M900
Advantages: Stability and price
Disadvantages: Possibly limited PCI slot and memory DIMM's
...Hopefully this review may help others seeking an impartial opinion. To start off, il just outlay some brief specifications with opinions provided. Further specifications are available off the msi website.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincatno=1&p rodno=1219
CPU
Socket 775 for Intel P4 3xx/ 5xx/ 6xx/ Pentium D, Celeron D, Core 2 Duo processors. Also supports EIST and HT processors.
Really handy as it supports my current p4 prescott HT and allows upgrade potential. It might seem like an obvious point, but finding a reliable board that I could use indefinitely on a p4 HT and then a dual core in the future was challenging.
MEMORY
DIMM1 supports 2GB max DDR2 400/533/667 and DIMM2 supports 1GB max DDR 266/333/400.
From the image, you may have already guessed this is a micro ATX board, so...
