...First thing in the morning I'm definitely a tea person. That's the first thing I do is make myself a brew! But for the rest of the day it's coffee. Trouble is, coffee always makes me run to the loo! Goodness knows why! I don't usually stick to one brand of coffee. I chop and change my coffee like the wind. This time I decided on buying a jar of Maxwell House instant coffee granules, something I'd not had in a long time. I prefer granules to powder. For a 100g jar I paid £1.29. The regular price is £1.79, so made a saving of 50p! The lid and the labelling around the jar is blue with a yellow strip along the top with the price on. Maxwell House coffee at it's worst

...which is the most popular, Nescafe. But last week at Morrisons, there was a buy one get one free offer on Maxwell house. OOH! I thought, two large jars for the price of one, and into my trolley they went. Now I didn't realise until I got back home that my new coffee was ground in powder form and not at all like Nescafe's granuals. Oh well, Maxwell house is a well known brand name so it must still be a quality cuppa. How wrong I was, I made myself a cup to try it out, and the first thing I noticed was the unsightly froth which floated on the top of my cup. UGH! It seriously looked like someone had intentionally gobbed into cup of Ciao. Nevertheless, I took it into the living room and waited for it to cool. Then I put it to my mouth and sipped it generously. Creamy frothy coffee stick

...As it was my turn to make everyone in the office their after lunch caffeine fix, I decided to make my self a Maxwell House Cappuccino. As I was about to throw the empty packet into the bin, I had a brain wave. Why not write an opinion on it as I drink it!! So here goes. I first saw Maxwell House Cappuccino sachets as I strolled round Morrisons on a Sunday afternoon. Normally at work, tea and coffee are provided for us by the Company, but sometimes I get a little fed up with drinking the usual PG tips or Nescafe. ...Every now and then I do fancy a cup of coffee for a change from my morning tea. So I always buy Nescafe to enjoy cappucino and latte in different flavours. The Nescafe is satisfying for me, and for many months seemed to be on offer on different supermarket so I took advantage of the marked down price. But recently, there have been no such offer. Wake Me Up Again Maxwell House

...I'm laughing as I sit down to write this opinion. You see, I had suggested Maxwell House ground coffee as a product on which to write. The title of my opinion was going to be "Wake Me Up, Maxwell House." However, Ciao has now given Maxwell House coffee the product name: Wake Me Up Maxwell House. Why am I not surprised? Ciao seems to have gone pear-shaped lately! To get on with the opinion itself, I'd like to start by saying that I am a coffee lover. ...Whilst browsing in my local co-op store at the weekend (and indescrimately filling my basket with chocolate and crisps), I spotted this Maxwell House Instant Cappaccino in the coffee section. The picture on the front of the pack looks yummy (I'm a sucker for a good advertisment) and because everyone knows that chocolate tastes better whilst drinking coffee, I decided to put them with the rest of my goodies. ...Some years ago I considered Maxwell House coffee granules to be a reasonable brand - not unacceptable, but not the best, either. Being a coffee drinker (I never touch tea) I'm a bit fussy about brands, and find that in general you get what you pay for with instant coffee. In other words, the supermarket own brands are generally not worth having; the branded ones cost more and taste better; best of all used to be the 'gold' type of coffee, which cost the most. Mud, Spit and Dandruff

Advantages: Bugger all unless you're a huge Teddy Roosevelt fan because Maxwell House boasts he was a fan
Disadvantages: Tastes like a muddy puddle, powdery texture lingers, looks like someone spat in the mug

A BROKEN PROMISE

Advantages: Good Make.
Disadvantages: Disappointing results.

The taste of the drink is like something between coffee and chocolate, almost too much chocolate to be considered seriously as a coffee, and the aroma is quite sickly and sweet. The product also has an aftertaste that sticks to your lips and reminds you that you have indeed been conned into thinking that any maker could give you that little taste of sunshine in a cup.
