...I've been swaying towards trying mineral make-up after watching those sheer cover advertisements on Sky, (yes that's how sad my life is I'm one of those strange people who flicks over to watch the same auld stuff on the shopping channel). The sheer-cover seemed to look really well on all - young and old but was a little pricey for me especially if I didn't know how it would look on my dry skin. So I tried out a few high street brands Maybelline, Avon, and NYC (see other reviews for Avon and NYC) I bought my Maybelline mineral foundation in Tesco while an offer was on for buy two get one free so I also got the mineral blush and the mousse foundation so it cost around £5.45 for the mineral foundation. Maybe not eh Maybelline!

Advantages: Erm....
Disadvantages: Well it's totally rubbish? lol

...with a blue plastic jewel like thing on one end of the tube kind of thing. In silver writing on one side I'm told it is Maybelline Define-A-Lash waterproof mascara and that's it on the information stakes. The Mascara.... Well I was really excited at the thought of using this cos if the truth be known I don't think I've ever splashed out £7.99 on a mascara before and my expectations were really high! However this really is... sh... sorry rubbish! As you pull the' wand' out of the tube the brush situated at the bottom wobbles all over the place and it's very difficult to control. It's made of fibres which feel rubbery to the touch, the smell is horrid (really cheap) and the brush is coated well with black mascara (in my case). Maybelline!

Advantages: Soft and light with a wonderful, fluffy texture. Easy to apply!
Disadvantages: Not recommended for people with dry skin. It can look flaky.

maybelline model lashes?????

Advantages: great covergae, does what it's supposed to!!!
Disadvantages: clumps easily, pulls out your eyelashes!!!

...I used this product for a few months......that is until i found i was loosing eyelashes at an alarming rate!!! So what is this product like. Well with the glamorous tv adverts showing models with super thick, gorgeous eyelashes, you would expect the bees knees eh?!!! mmm maybe-lline not!!!! THE PACKAGING well it look like any other mascara you would see. It's black and it has it's name in blue metallic writing. Yeah it looks good and is smart, but not very eye catching to say the least. THE BRUSH The "brush" with this product isn't really a brush. It is in fact a comb. I wasn't too sure about this at first, but to be fair it is very effective. THE EFFECT Well the comb is very good on the coverage side of things. It gets every single lash, even the tiniest of ones, that are normally impossibe to get with a normal brush...

Advantages: nice smooth finish, easy to apply
Disadvantages: smears off within a few hours of wearing.. makes face shiny

...So.. what with economic recession and the credit card crunch I was intrigued when I read something somewhere about normal brand foundations being essentially the same as expensive brands.. and so this summer i decided to try and see if this was true and instead my usual chanel matte lumiere i found myself browsing in boots... i'v used and liked alot maybelline products - their great lash mascara is super by the way - so i was keen to try one of their foundations. My friend had used the dream mousse foundation with great results but as i have slightly dry/dehydrated skin i picked up the new liquid version... ah yes dnt we all love anything with big NEW sign on it!! It comes in a little glass bottle of 30ml's and as its a fluid foundation should last awhile. Being made out glass the packaging is recylcable apart from the plastic pump...

Maybelline Mineral Foundation POWDER - A must for spot prone skin

Definitely Maybelline

Advantages: Easy to apply, long lasting, doesn't smudge, good price

...I first started using this liquid eyeliner from Maybelline back in 2006. I was looking for something different, something that wouldn't smudge or rub off as soon as I blinked!!! Maybe it's Maybelline!

Advantages: Long, separated and defined lashes.
Disadvantages: They advertise it with a model wearing false eyelashes.

It's definitely Maybelline!

Advantages: Comes in a shade that suits me, little goes a long way, good coverage
Disadvantages: Not as many shades available in the UK as the US, slightly drying on my skin

...Foundation has to be the bane of most women's lives. It's so difficult to find a shade that you're happy with, can apply well, and doesn't look like you've lost a fight with a tangerine. Once you do, of course, that shade and type of product is immediately discontinued by the manufacturer and it's back to square one. This has happened to me twice now, within a fairly short space of time. So I have deserted Boots No7 and turned (entirely by chance) to Maybelline's dream matte mousse product.
