Want to stay in Mayfair?

Advantages: In the centre of London, great breakfast, fairly good value
Disadvantages: Tired decor, noisy water pipes, poor TV channel choice

...Just got back from a lovely weekend in London and stayed at the the Washington Hotel in Mayfair. Do I reccommend this hotel - well it is good value. I booked direct from their website and it cost £89 plus VAT including full breakfast for two. This is for a 4 star hotel in the heart of London. The foyer is nice, clean, spacious and welcoming and check in was without any hassle. Our room was clean, but the decor in the room was tired. Some chips on the furniture, scuffs on the walls and skirting board and the bathroom needed a really deep clean. I'm also a bit of a satellite TV fand there was only Sky News, CNN and some Indian channels, plus the normal 5 terrestrial channels. Even though Sky Sports was promoted in the room literature it wasn't there, so rather disappointing. The bed was comfortable, but it took a while to get to...

Witch Mayfair is She

Advantages: A must for Anne Rice fans and fans of the Vampire Chronicles
Disadvantages: A bit boring in the middle

...I took my partner to stay at the Westbury Mayfair as an anniversary treat, when we arrived the doorman took our car from us and parked it in the hotels secure car park (£30 a night, in addition to the £200+ a night room fee). The check in was quick and painless, then up to our "superior queen", or "standard room" in plain english, the room was nice, if a little small. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room, these were offered at an additional (undisclosed) charge. The room was however very clean, and serviced twice daily, with the Molton Brown toiletries replenished on both occassions. The choice of T.V channels was very limited, so with this and the fact that we had no access to tea and coffee in our room we spent very little time in the rather expensive room. A bargin at The Chesterfield

Advantages: High quality and excellent location

...I spent the last weekend of january 2007 at the Chesterfield Mayfair with my wife and another couple. I booked us this trip through expedia.co.uk as I have found them very good before, particulary their bargin hotel prices, and did again this time. I found expedia especially good on this occasion because apart from the trip being everything that we were promised our trip was to take place over a period of proposed strike action by BA staff (the airline we had chosen to use). Expedia were on the ball with all aspects of any difficulties that we may have faced, from keeping us right up to date to promising that they would make sure that we could still take our trip with them arranging an alternative airline if and when required. Thankfully this was not required but is gave you real peace of mind. On to the hotel...

Outstanding Service at Flemings!

Advantages: Beautifully decorated, staff very friendly and helpful
Disadvantages: The room was a bit pricey, but that is to be expected!

...of juices. As it was a buffet, there was plenty to go around! The staff were great, very friendly and helpful at directing us to various landmarks and streets we were wanting to visit. Checking out was swift and easy too, with staff very helpful in ensuring we go home safe (they called us as taxi and took care of everything!). Definately recommended. In a beautiful location literally around the corner from The Ritz, and very close to all major shopping areas within the vicinity (not to mention the underground is a 5 min walk away so very accessible!) I would definately go back again (although the rooms were a bit pricey it isn't hard to expect that with being in Mayfair!)...

In the Heart of Mayfair

...This review focuses on the Kings Arms which is located in the historic,trendy,area of Shepherd Market,in the heart of the elegant quarter of Mayfair. The Kings Arms is a hugely popular tavern. The last time I was there it was crowded. There were a number of guardsmen,ie, members of the Brigade of Guards, local residents and more than a fair sprinkling of tourists. On this occasion there was a jazz band playing and the drinks were flowing freely. Th pub is but a short stroll from popular tourist haunts such as Park Lane,Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, Green Park and the posh streets of Mayfair.No wonder then it seems to be very busy most of the time. Believe it or not Shepherd Market,now so upmarket,was once a place of prosttution. Mind you apparently many of the customers were Lords and the Gentry,so even that aspect was up market...

location, location, location

Advantages: Right where you want to be in London
Disadvantages: It is not the Ritz!!

...We have found what we consider to be ideal location for a stay in Central London. The Holiday Inn Mayfair is 50 metres from Piccadilly right opposite the front doors of the Ritz. Less than five minutes walk from Bond Street, and two minutes from Fortnum and Mason. Green Park underground is no more than 30 seconds from the hotel entrance. It is right in the heart of Mayfair with world famous restaurants literally only seconds away. If its location you are after this hotel has to be the one. Whilst it is not "top of the range" and super luxorious, the hotel itself is a mid range Holiday Inn (3*) with nothing too pretentious. We stayed in a superior room which was a decent size and included omplementary newspaper and soft drinks with robes, complementary toiletries and slippers in the bathroom. We paid £115 per night for the room...

Talltos

Advantages: A great story

...In the typical Anne Rice style, this book is a page turner. Once I started it, it was hard to put it down. This book follows The Mayfair Witches and Lasher. I read it first and was a bit confused as to the story line, but as I got into the book, it made little difference that I hadn't read the other two before it. Though after reading this book, it made me want to read the other's before it. An ancient race of beings older than man. They breed in minutes and live for centuries. Lasher, was the first Taltos that the Mayfair witches met, and when he was distroyed, they assumed that he was the only one of his kind. But they were wrong, because there is another. Ashlar is legendary of the Taltos. He seems so innocent and pure, but he has done and suffered so much wrong in his time. He lives to serch for another...

Mayfair are Very Fair

Advantages: Cheap very helpful and design any type of window and door
Disadvantages: None

...a price of about £200 each window, he makes them himself, that includes fitting, but he dissuaded me and said it is cheaper just to fix them as they have a few problems. How many companies do you know that will offer you good advice on saving money, rather than convince you that your whole house needs new windows. The company is based in Swansea and is called Mayfair, it can be found in the Yellow Pages under Double Glazing. The reason he is so cheap is he makes all his own windows and doors. What an excellent service...
