McVities Milk chocolate digestive biscuits
Advantages: A superb chocolate biscuit
Disadvantages: too many arent good for the figure!
...This week Sainsbury`s have McVities chocolate digestives on offer, a whacking 50% reduction. The biscuits have a good sell by date on them so I stocked up and bought four packets.
If they had been on the shelf at full price I would have more than likely considered buying their own brand or even buying the Sainsburys Basic range chocolate digestive.
Admittedly the own brand and basic range don`t have the refined almost `syrupy` taste of McVities but when the chips are downits beetr to keep a tight rein on the weekly shopping budget.
McVities is a brand owned by United biscuits, McVitie and Price were originally Scottish biscuit makers and started baking their delicious biscuits in the early 1800`s in the city of Edinburgh.
The first big selling biscuit ever made by McVities was the digestive. Then in 1947 the company were asked to...

It's chocolate...
Advantages: delicious, on offer
Disadvantages: /
...Whilst browsing the 'cakes' section in my local Tesco store, I noticed they had quite a few offers on, including '3 for 2' and 'Buy One Get One Free'. Among their wonderful deals was a variety of delicious looking products. One of these includes the McVitie's Chocolate Cake. It looked so wonderful, I simply had to try it. Although I am not a huge fan of chocolate cake, there was something about this that seemed quite tempting and I simply couldn't let it pass me by.
The cake comes in a reasonably long plastic packet. It is a delicious chocolate brown colour, with the McVitie's logo clear on the top so you know you are getting a great value of a product. There are also a few squares of chocolate printed onto the front, which are incredibly tempting. There is also a clear window on the top which enables you to see inside to the product...

McVities Choc Hobnobs - They Have Oats In - Must Be Good For You!
Advantages: Quality ingredients
Disadvantages: High in calories and sugar
...McVities Chocolate Hobnobs
I do not usually buy these but when I went into a nearby Sainsbury's recently they were on offer - they were half price. So as they have quite a long best before date I stocked up (roughly 6 months grace). The reason I don't like to buy them is that they are sooo moreish. You can easily get carried away.
What are they like?
Well they are available in both plain and milk chocolate and there is also a more expensive version which is packaged in a sealed cardboard container, I suppose to help keep the biscuits fresh. The thing is in our house they never hang around that long!
These are an essentially 'oat' biscuit topped with chocolate. The packaging has recently changed to a predominently orange colour, so if you haven't bought them in a while you could miss them on the shelf.
On a positive...

All covered in chocolate and caramel.
Advantages: tasty
Disadvantages: chewy ,watch out for those cavities
...I was feeling in need of some biscuits for the weekend and in Tesco's bought some McVities milk chocolate caramel biscuits, they cost me £1.09 for a 300g packet.
McVities have been making biscuits for years and years and years over 100 years.
McVities in now one of united biscuits brands.
The digestive biscuit is very popular as a plain biscuit , in 1925 the first mc vities chocolate covered biscuit was produced since then there has been many additions to this range in 1999 the chocolate caramel covered digestive was launched.
Both milk chocolate and plain chocolate caramel digestive biscuits are available. Although I prefer plain chocolate I bought the milk chocolate ones (don't ask me why)
I have seen these biscuits available in most food stores that I visit and garage forecourt shops. They are unmistakable with the McVities...

Sweet Milky Chocolate Biscuits
Advantages: Sweet and chocolatey
Disadvantages: Really unhealthy - like everything else seems to be!
...I love biscuits especially chocolate ones but they are so very unhealthy. Despite trying to cut back on the amount of them I eat I still cannot resist a chocolate digestive when I see one that's why I bought McVities Milk Chocolate Homewheat Digestives.
Now I'm sure that most people all know what a chocolate digestive is but for those of you who don't I shall explain. A digestive biscuit is rather different to other biscuits as it is made of wheat and has a sweet wheat taste that you just don't get in any of the others. It also has a nice texture, not like the smooth mush you get when you are halfway through eating a Rich Tea, these have a slightly rougher texture and are easier to break down, which is why they are called Digestive Biscuits as you can digest them more easily than others. Now that you know what a digestive biscuit is...

Browned off! A chocolate flop.
Advantages: Can't really think of any.
Disadvantages: Not value for money.
...When doing my weekly shop, I am always on the look out for something new and nice in the cake aisle, something as a treat to go with a nice cuppa and Corrie!
Last week, I was going back and fore the variety of cakes on offer at my local Asda, and couldn't find anything that particularly tickled my fancy. Being a bit of a chocoholic, I narrowed my choice down to something more on the dark brown colour and noticed a box I hadn't seen before. It was McVities brand and called Chocolate Brownie Slices. ( Chocolate being the operative word!). The cakes looked very appetising and very naughty on the box, so I promptly popped them into my trolley.
DESCRIPTION OF PACKAGING
The box is approx 8" long x 3" wide and 1" deep, quite small compared to most boxed cakes. The McVities logo is emblazoned in the middle of the box in blue and gold...

The original milk chocolate ones are better!
Advantages: chocolate AND caramel, sweet treat
Disadvantages: small packet, highly calorific as with most chocolate
...I bought these about six weeks ago from Tesco and I though I was lucky enough to get the last packet. They were on special offer - half price to £0.56 and I wanted to review them only when I had finished the whole packet - which trust me did not take very long!
The packaging is pretty standard for Mcvities, although they did emphasis the word 'caramel' in an attractive gold curly font.
I love Mcvities milk chocolate digestives but I only buy them very rarely as a special treat because I want to keep slim! I am also a major caramel fan so I found this combination very appealing. However, although I had seen packets of these biscuits at Tesco months before, I was never that tempted to buy them because for more that £1 it seemed very little value for money as the packet is relatively small - only 300 grams.
However, as they were...

No other version beats McVities!
Advantages: MMMMM CHOCOLATE
Disadvantages: They are addictive
...One biscuit which i have always known is McVities Milk Chocolate Digestives. I am sure they used to be called Homewheat biscuits instead, but nevermind as long as they are the same biccies I don't mind!
They are similar to normal digestive biscuits. For those who don't know what digestives are, they are round biscuits at about 5cm! They are a plainish looking biscuit with a really sweet taste. The milk chocolate version has one side coated with milk chocolate. The top looks checked with squares being the design on the chocolate.
The packet is quite distinctive. It is a long tube like packet, made of a thin packet cover. Is is a medium brown colour with a small picture on the right hand side of the biscuits with in the packet and with the blue and white McVities Logo on the left hand side. The packet comes with the red tape...

McVities Victoria, a biscuit for for royalty!
Advantages: Luxury chocolate biscuits, very attractively packaged
Disadvantages: Chocolate could be thicker, rather expensive
...Review of McVities Victoria Luxury Chocolate Biscuit assortment
McVities are a well know biscuit and snack manufacturer in the UK. The Victoria Luxury range certainly lives up to the name as they are a truly luxurious selection of chocolate coated biscuits.
Product and Packaging
The biscuit assortment is presented in a beautiful royal blue, rectangular shaped tin. The tin is sealed with a sellotape strip for freshness and once this is torn open the biscuits themselves are covered with a padded paper shield which also acts as the description for each biscuit. The tin contains 800g in weight, the biscuits are well protected in a plastic inner tray.
The tin contains twelve different biscuits, all either half or fully coated in milk, plain or white chocolate. There are approx four to six biscuits in each of the varieties...
