McVities Milk chocolate digestive biscuits
Advantages: A superb chocolate biscuit
Disadvantages: too many arent good for the figure!
...This week Sainsbury`s have McVities chocolate digestives on offer, a whacking 50% reduction. The biscuits have a good sell by date on them so I stocked up and bought four packets.
If they had been on the shelf at full price I would have more than likely considered buying their own brand or even buying the Sainsburys Basic range chocolate digestive.
Admittedly the own brand and basic range don`t have the refined almost `syrupy` taste of McVities but when the chips are downits beetr to keep a tight rein on the weekly shopping budget.
McVities is a brand owned by United biscuits, McVitie and Price were originally Scottish biscuit makers and started baking their delicious biscuits in the early 1800`s in the city of Edinburgh.
The first big selling biscuit ever made by McVities was the digestive. Then in 1947 the company were asked to...

McVities Digestives Biscuits
Advantages: it fills a gap
Disadvantages: a bit plain
...So here I was last night and finally got a message from Ciao which let me get back into my account and by the time I had found the email and the new password, I only managed to rate one days works.
So here I am this morning rating now from the 16th February and stacked up with coffee on tap, I thought I wonder if I have any nibbles and in the back of the cupboard there was a packet of McVities Digestive Biscuits. I have not had these for ages and thought these will do whilst I plod along.
Now I am not a biscuity sort of person but today is going to be a long day, so hey ho and here we go.
I bought these on special offer at Spar the other day and you paid 99p for a 250g Milk Chocolate Digestive and also got a 250g Original Digestive Biscuit with it as well, so I thought well that is not bad for them, so off it jumped into my...

McVities Victoria, a biscuit for for royalty!
Advantages: Luxury chocolate biscuits, very attractively packaged
Disadvantages: Chocolate could be thicker, rather expensive
...biscuits are suitable for vegetarians, but caution should be exercised by nut allergy sufferers as the product is produced in a factory which also manufactures products using nut recipes.

Mcvities Rich Tea Biscuits
Advantages: Mcvities Rich Tea Biscuits
Disadvantages: Mcvities Rich Tea Biscuits
...Teas and I am sure this will never change. I will always dunk half the biscuit and get half soggy and half crispy so I am able to fully enjoy both tastes and textures that are on offer.
To those people who are dunking digestives, or heaven forbid bourbons, put them down right away and head for Mcvities Rich Tea and you will surely enjoy your cuppa ten times more....

Choc Digestive Smart Price biscuits...Yuk.
Advantages: Smart Price 27p
Disadvantages: Not very chocolaty, very hard and crunchy. Don't like. Not nice.
... Asda Smart Price Milk Choc Digestives....
Spotted these cruising down the biscuit isle at asda - as cheap as - at 27p so in the trolley they went, we already buy some of the other Smart Price Stuff including some of the biscuits so thought these would do the job.
So my 27p got me 300g worth of biscuits about 20 of them I'd guess, on went the kettle and out with them. The packaging is standard no frills white and green 'Smart-Price' plastic, does the job with no excess packaging. Pack states "Produced in the Uk For Asda Stores Ltd" I won't bore you with ALL the ingrediants and labeling etc ...But: Fat is 2.9g and Sodium (Equiv. as Salt) is 0.2g per Biscuit.
First impressions...
On opening pack they Look OK, with a fair layer of chocolate on the top. The bottom is imprinted with "Sweetmeal Digestive Biscuits...

Out of date digestives??
Advantages: Mcvities Quality
Disadvantages: Don't taste too good
...I am a great fan of the original Mcvitie's digestives - they are so simple yet so tasty. They taste great with a drink of tea also. The first time you open the pack they are really golden, crunchy and crispy. After they have been opened - the rest of the digestives in there don't taste as good as the first few fresh biscuits from the top.
We have a biscuit tin at home and I asked for a biscuit. I grabbed a digestive from it and started munching on it. It tasted slightly off....the flavours of the other biscuits had mingled in to it and madeit taste somewhat.... fusty? So I thought...
I was later told by my brother that our mum had purchased some 'New' Mcvitie's digestives. Apparently called Lemon and Ginger.
So that is why they tasted different! Was my judgement on the biscuits biased due to thinking that they had been mixed...

McVities Yog Fruit Digestives - YUM
Advantages: Great mix of fruit and yogurt, addictive taste
Disadvantages: A lot of calories
...I'm a big McVitie's fan to start with, chocolcate digestives are one of my favourite biscuits so when I saw an advertisement for these new Yog Fruit digestives I definitely had to give them a try. It took me a few weeks to find them in the shops, I guess because they are so new but last week I bought a packet of the Forest Fruits flavour and also a packet of the strawberry flavour. They cost £1.17 each for the 250g pack in Sanisburys which I didn't think was too bad as it's the same price as the chocolate variety. They don't come in a multipack yet but I'm sure that will follow if they become popular.
These really are just as delicious as the chocolate variety. They are basically a digestive biscuit with forest fruit or strawberry puree pieces and yogurt flavoured topping. They have quite a sweet taste, due to the fruit pieces but they...

Very Smart biscuits indeed!
Advantages: Very good quality and a low price product
Disadvantages: None in my opinion!
...Review of Asda Smart Price Digestive Biscuits
Asda's own label, economy range is known as Smart Price. In line with many other supermarkets, the Smart Price range has been introduced to offer shoppers a low budget alternative to costlier ranges. Asda Smart Price products can be found right across the store and incorporates many everyday items which are simply packaged and low in price. Some are better than others and these sweet meal digestive biscuits certainly fall into the 'better' category.
Packaging and Appearance
The biscuits are packaged in Asda's Smart Price garb of basic white and green wrapping. The biscuits are encased in a plastic wrapper which bears the company logo, product description, nutritional information and ingredient list. There are no pictures or images apart from a silhouetted green cup and saucer...
