Possibly the best MD player
Advantages: Light-weight, compact, durable and easy to use with up to 16 hours continuous playback.
Disadvantages: Still expensive, but dropping in price.
...I purchased a sharp MD-MT821H portable minidisk recorder about months ago, and I think its the best thing since sliced bread.
I use it all the time, I don't even play CD's now let alone cassettes.
It offers 24bit ATRAC recording, with the option of digital/optical recording from compatible sources. Its compact, and comes with a 'remote control' in between the player and the ear phones...

What a great md player!
Advantages: Very good sound quality, relatively inexpensive
Disadvantages: finish
...I bought one of these mini disc players about 3 years ago now! at the time it cost me £99.99, which i thought was a reasonable price, seeing as other MD players were anything up to £250!
The reason why this MD player is cheaper than others is because it is only an MD player, it will not record mini discs, you must do that first on a seperate machine, before playing them on this. This was not...
