...I absolutely love this album. When I was younger my older cousin played Meat Loaf all the time and I loved listening to it. When I was older I heard Bat out of Hell on the radio and was reminded of its brilliance. As soon as I heard it, I went on the hunt for a Meat Loaf greatest hits album in the hope that after hearing it I would still enjoy it the way I did when I was younger. I came across the Very Best of Meat Loaf and bought it as it seemed to be of good value for money with having 2 discs and more of the classic Meat Loaf songs than any other Meat Loaf album, songs including Bat out of Hell, Paradise by the Dashboard Light, Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through, Modern Girl, Objects in the Rear View Mirror, I'd Do Anything for Love. I would recommend this album for any Meat Loaf fan but if you only intend buying one Meat...

Meat Loaf - Dead Ringer

Advantages: Each song is a great one.
Disadvantages: Not enough tracks?

...My first review for over a month comes in the form of a fat guy, singing like a man gone wild, on a mean bike. Oh, did I mention he's also quite the comedian. Meat Loaf (aka Michael Lee Aday) is one of those familiar names that almost everybody recognises, even if they don't know why. The guy has done several thousand films (well, alright, about 43 (in 18 of them, he played himself)), several million famous songs (again, I'm lying, although this figure can't be far off! ;-D) and a load of great albums (wow, I finally told the truth!). This album is almost as definitive as the Bat Out of Hell album, as far as Meat Loaf albums are concerned. Meat Loaf's Greatest Hits

Advantages: Classic, Timeless Ballads that eveyone will enjoy
Disadvantages: no- it seems this one is flawless!

...Before I bought this double album, Meat Loaf was, to me, I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) and Bat Out Of Hell. I didn't go looking for this album, but it was on the strength of these songs that I chose it as the final selection in a 3 for £30-type deal, and I have to say I am very glad I did. The two songs I mentioned are of course in this complilation, as the opening and closing tracks on disc 2 respectively; I'd do Anything For Love is an epic 12 minute album version, as opposed to the single released in the early 90s. But wait - there's more! I was quite surprised as the opening track on Disc One, Home By Now, phased into No Matter What, more commonly known as a hit for Boyzone. Meat Loaf and Steinman make sweeeet music!

Advantages: Bombastic operatic excellence

One thing that stuck with me was the length and awesome brevity of the songs and albums. Meat Loaf - Live Around The World.

Advantages: The tracks of a 'best of' album, with the atmosphere of a live concert
Disadvantages: a bit pricy for your first Meat Loaf album

...Okay, that's a slight lie, since it was a gift, but I would have bought it myself if I could have found it. Since it's fairly rare and an import it was only in HMV at the time and very pricy. Out of all of Meat's albums (I do have most of them, if not all his songs on one compilation or another), if I could only save one from a burning building, this would be it. Anyone who's been to see Meat Loaf perform live will know his unique stage performing style and the way he can toy with the crowd, literally holding them on every breath - a truely awesome feeling to be part of. Unfortunately you simply can not go to a Meat Loaf concert every week (especially since he's packing in the touring business), but you can lock yourself in a dark room, put this CD on at full blast, close your eyes and be taken back to that special night in Leeds...

Meat Loaf - Live - long - and at his best!

Advantages: A feast for Meatloaf lovers
Disadvantages: Hubby won't turn the b*gger off!

...up. Meat was backed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and this only added to the power of his voice. This was recorded in Feb 2004 and Meat looked fit and well (following his heart scare the year b4) We saw Meat in Leeds in 2003 and I must say I was a bit disappointed. But this DVD has him back on form. Disc 2: The "extras" A question and answer session with the man himself, the group's pre show ritual and an excellent photo gallery. Only prob I have is we had Meatloaf almost 24/7 for a while< I am gradually weaning him off it! If you're a Meat fan this is a must for your collection. I paid £16.97 at Asda though it may be more expensive elsewhere. Give it a go........

Bat Out Of Hell - Great Eardrum Exercise

Advantages: Iconic album, brilliant songs, awesome voice.
Disadvantages: Not everyones taste, maybe too much disparity in song types for just 7 songs.

...Introduction Bat out of Hell is the third best selling album of all time, behind Thriller and Back In Black, and here's why I think that might be... I first heard the song Bat Out Of Hell eight years ago, when I was only ten, and didn't think that much to it. What I didn't realise however, was what I had heard on the free Daily Mail CD of Power Ballads, was an awfully watered down and pitifully edited four minute version of the song. I soon came to realise that Bat Out Of Hell was only to be listened to if you have the original edit, and ten minutes to spare, when my dad delved into his dusty record collection and cranked up the volume on his old player, just to prove that what I had listened to was not what Meat Loaf intended to be heard, and I quickly disposed of the god awful free CD. Use your loaf ......... dish

...Good old Pyrex make a loaf dish this is a very useful loaf shaped dish The end walls have a small lip which makes it easy to lift in and out of the oven. This loaf dish comes in a variety of sizes mine is 30cm. I find this dish useful for making many loaf shaped dishes, I use it for tea bread, banana cake, ginger bread, meat loaf and a variety of other dishes too. I find Pyrex dishes good material l as it is non- porous, flavours and smells do not linger after washing. To wash it up either do it manually or use the dish washer. It cleans well. Pyrex dishes last ages and ages still looking in fair condition. If you drop this Pyrex loaf dish it probably will not break it wills if thrown with force against a stone floor, but I have dropped Pyrex several times and it has not broken.
