The Demon Media Player
Advantages: free software, plays most formats
Disadvantages: microsoft, is a huge file to download
...With the advent of the Internet the whole world suddenly became connected to everywhere. A little after and before (most probably) media formats were developed for computers. These allowed things such as short movies and music to be viewed at home over the Internet with ease. Probably the most famous of these formats has been mp3, which has caused the music industry to re-think how it does business. Also mpeg (a format that allows video as well as sound) has become quire popular and you now get movie trailers over the Internet, this has also been used with the DVD Video format.
Anyway enough of the brief introduction, I am going to talk about the Windows Media Player (version 7 or so?). With all of media content available to you on the Internet which media player do you choose? This is a good question, there are loads that you...

Netac A200 1Gb Media Player
Advantages: Sound quality, FM radio and transmitter
Disadvantages: Photo ability, small memory
...Netac are a fairly new name to the UK. Hailing from China, they have produced an interesting variation on the media player theme ready for the newly relaxed rules in the UK regarding FM transmitters.
Until recently it was illegal to use devices that transmit FM such as iPod addons that allow you to pick up its output via your car FM radio. Netac have combined an MP3 player, FM radio, video player, eBook reader, photo album and recorder in to a tiny form factor not much bigger than a box of matches and then added in an FM transmitter for good measure.
Setting it Up
I was initially flummoxed by Netac's own instructions which advise a trip to their web site to download the drivers and software needed to use the A200. The web site only had the video conversion tool, no sign of anything for downloading music or images. After some...

One of the best Media Players
Advantages: Excellent layout ,mp3, CD organisation and player/library, can copy CD's
Disadvantages: none
...This NEW Windows Media Player Ver. 7.0 just released at the end of September is an excellent media player for organising, copying and storing all your mp3's,wave files, copying and creating your own CD's using the Media PLAYER Adaptec media software - part of this player (you will also need a CD recorder to burn the CD's)creating media playlists, master library etc.
You can also copy CD's onto your hard disk and play as many of them as you want - like a multichanger CD, without taking up too much disk space they can be compressed. There are also an excellent selection of skins to use. You can also create a master library and your own playlists, and say for example you do not know the title of the track or album you can connect to internet and windows media will get an exact match of album, artist tarck listing etc. The layout is...

Hauppauge MediaMVP - networked media player
Advantages: Good picture and sound quality, easy to use
Disadvantages: Cheap looking
...The MediaMVP from Hauppauge is an interesting example of an increasing trend in network devices. Using a customised version of Linux, it provides a quick, easy and convenient way to send sound and vision from a PC on your network to your TV and/or HiFi.
What's in the box
As well as the MediaMVP itself, you get the driver CD, a special SCART cable, a short LAN cable (almost certainly too short for most people), a very compact external PSU and a stand to hold the device vertically.
Installation
Setting up consists of first installing some server software on your PC. As well as handling the PC's end of things, the server software lets you select which directories and files are made available to the MediaMVP. The MediaMVP is then connected to the network via a standard RJ45 network connector and to your TV via a single SCART...

Windows Media Player 7
Advantages: Good sound output, extensive control over style and function, web integration, quite stable and doesn't cost a penny
Disadvantages: slow and a little cumbersome, large download
...In the face of competition from the likes of Winamp and Sonique, Microsoft release Windows Media Player 7, but is it good enough to stem the tide of desertion?
Catchy name aside, it's actually pretty good, and certainly a great improvement on WMP6, which was outdated and lacked style.
Media Player 7's style can be whatever you want it to be, because there's quite a large choice of designer skins downloadable from Microsoft's website. The standard player is cleanly designed, with well placed, stylised buttons on a brushed-metal stylee exterior. Unfortunately, the player itself is rather too large and cumbersome for the avergae 800x600 desktop, and could do with being slimmed down a little. Handily though, the standard version also comes with a "miniplayer" skin, which shrinks the box down to a managable corner-size. Unfortunately...

Windows media player review.
Advantages: Original with many brilliant features
Disadvantages: Can sometimes have it's problems such as not loading up quickly
...OK, just a brief piece of information you should know. This was installed on my computer when i first got it, we got someone in to do it for us. The whole computer and the windows software, that is. It proved to be very helpful and we have never experienced any problems with this media player so far unlike others i have tried out in the past. I hope that this review is to your liking and proves to be helpful. If there is anything i could improve on feel free to tell me. If you have any questions you would like to ask feel free to do so though i'm sure the majority of you already know a great deal about this program.
How easy is it to use this program?
Don't be fooled! this program is in fact VERY easy to use. Don't let others put you off by thinking it's just a plain boring program in comparison to all the others on the market out...

virgin media
Advantages: TV till you drop and good internet.
Disadvantages: Poor customer services, poor prices,
...Virgin have gone down in my expectations and i am currently thinking of leaving them.
When i first joined virgin media it was called telewest, i signed up to a large tv package and the internet at a cost of 40 pounds per month.
This worked fine untill virgin media took over, Although they did bring better and more chanels to the table the prices went up and the customer service went down.
When virgin took over they rang me to say i would be better off if i got the whole package which included xl tv, 20gb broadband and a phone line with free weekend calls as it would take my bill down to 35 pound a month, i also pay for disney cinemagic aswell so it would basically be taking 5 pound off my bill which i thought was fair enough.
Since then the bill has went up and up and up!
I still have the same package to which i had 4 years...

Good all-round media player
Advantages: Photos, Music, Video and Games
Disadvantages: Mainly just PS2 games on it
...The PSP is a good allround media centre for on the go. Gaming, music, movies and photos are all easily available on this console, and you can even access the internet on it via a WiFi hotspot. It's relatively easy to use, particularly if you've ever used a PS3 as its the same style of menu, easy to charge and pretty much walks you through anything you try to do with it.
The games are good, though nothing special. If you own a PS2, you'll find there are next to no new games; most are straight ports with very similar graphics and virtually no difference whatsoever.
The music, photos and movies you can put on there using a USB connection from your pc and store them on a ProDuo memory stick; not the cheapest of products but many mobile phones and cameras also use these now, so you can buy a large one and use it for these multiple...

Virgin Media
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: Freezing tv channels, unhelpful staff
...Virgin Media took over Cable (not sure exactly when), They offer sevices such as Broadband, tv and the phone, their bills are on a monthly basis.
The reason I chose Virgin
I signed up with Virgin approximately 6 months ago, the reason I decided to sign up with them is because my family are all customers of Virgin and I thought it would be cheaper on the phone calls, also I prefer the monthly bills rather than quarterly bills like with BT.
Arranging for installation
I had a leaflet from Virgin with their phone number on, so I phoned them give all the details they needed and they give me an installation date which was approx a week later. While on the phone I arranged to pay by Direct debit.
Day of installation
I recieved a welcome letter stating the date and time of my installation, the following Monday was when I was to...
