Medieval II: Total War
Review of Medieval 2 - Total War (PC) by
johnjoshN
Advantages: Grand Strategic facet/ Fantastic huge 3D battles.
Disadvantages: Large system requirements. Very Similar to Rome: Total War
...Similar to Rome: Total War and the original Medieval Total War.
This game is very good, taking many of the innovative and successful ideas employed in the Rome: Total War series and putting them into a medieval format. Great improvements in realism, with multiple unit per turn production, and a realistic system of mercenary hire.
Strategically it is very similar to Rome, although options for Crusades and Jihads are included, along with special units (an adaption of the horde idea in the Rome: Barbarian Invasion expansion).
The battles are enormously impressive. Uniquely modelled 3D units, individually animated populate the battlefield, along with towns and castles, weather conditions, and siege machines. Looks are very realistic and units even dress differently in different weather conditions.
There is the option for custom...

Let the battle commence!!!!!!!!!
Review of Medieval: Total War (PC) by
mr.stubbs
Advantages: great shelf life, action packed, online play.
Disadvantages: graphics
...Bought this game about 2 weeks ago from play.com (best price) and was, well surprised at it's quality.
Many people know of the Total War Series. This is because of the big hype surrounding the games as well as the tv show Time Commanders that was on the bbc, But not many have tried it.
So what is Medieval: Total War all about?
Well Medieval Total War is a game set in Medieval Europe, when the peace and harmony of today never existed. Wars such as the 100-year war between England and France happened, as well as such famous battles as Agincourt, Hastings and Bannockburn. So if you’re a big history geek you might want to give this a try.
Do i need to know a lot about the time period or what to do in different situations?
Well different factions in Medieval Total War demand different skills and approaches. Commanding the German Holy...

Medieval II but is it an improvment
Review of Medieval 2 - Total War (PC) by
S3Matt
Advantages: Graphics much improved, Sieges always fun
Disadvantages: Few niggles in game play, to Similar to previous titles
...Medieval II Total was is the second incarnation of the Total war series based in medieval times, also included in the series of Total war are shogun, and Rome.
So this newest Release is it an improvement on Rome total war or the original Medieval, or just more of the same?
The Game:
For those who know of Total war its much the same as the previous titles in the way that it plays in both the Campaign map and also into the battles, Management of the Cities is also much the same but a Family member is required to financially control the City/Fort. Units are Recognizable from the old games with a few changes here and there.
For those Not familiar You take control of one of the Empires in the Middle ages (i go for England obviously) and then build you empire by conquering neighboring cities and the land they control from rebels or other...

Total War : Medieval
Review of Medieval: Total War (PC) by
SpikD
Advantages: Can be played over and over again, endless strategy
Disadvantages: Addictive
...Medieval Total war is the second game in the Total War series from The Creative Assembly, which includes Shogun: Total War and Rome: Total War.
Medieval Total War is a turn based computer strategy game where the player builds their own empire through conquest, bribery and civil war.
The game is played across medieval Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
Game play is both strategic and tactical, with more strategy needed on the turn based side of the game where you must build your empire on a province by province level.
The tactical side of this game involves varying military units with different capabilities fighting head to head against each other on a real time tactical map.
Battles can be played alone (in random or user-defined conditions, as part of historical scenarios, or in multiplayer), or as part of the campaign (in...

Medieval 2
Review of Medieval 2 - Total War (PC) by
hero164
Advantages: Huge Scope, Varied Units, Amazing Battles
Disadvantages: Life Destroyingly Addictive
...This game is an evolution in the popular Total War series and a worthy successor to the original Medieval Total War.
Set in the middle ages you can take control of one of the major Christian or Muslim factions of the time. The main campaign revolves around the capture of 50 territories on the map including the holy city of the opposite factions/
The game is split into two sections, the strategic map and the tactical battle field. On the Strategic map you buld and remove armies in fortressess, and expand your financial clout through cities.
You can also move agents such as merchants, assassins, spys, priests and princessess round the board. Missions are presented to you by the pope or council of nobles offending the pope can result in excommunication and a general invitation to attack you lands.
The main point of the map however...

Go forth and conquer the known world.
Review of Medieval 2 - Total War (PC) by
ken_lee
Advantages: Gorgeous graphics, thousands of troops at your command and clever gameplay make this game this the best strategy game yet.
Disadvantages: System requirements can be a bit demanding.
...The latest in the highly successful Total War strategy game series, Medieval 2 has a lot to live up to in terms of graphics, gameplay and overall addictive enjoyment. Does it fulfil all of these?
Yes!
What the developers have come up with is possibly the best PCstrategy game that we've seen in a while. Set from 1080 to 1530, the game spans the period from the dark ages to the high middle ages. This provides you with 400 years of time. Time, that is, to guide your country and expand your borders.
How do you do this? Well this is what makes Medieval 2 stand out. The main method to do this is to go around and kill your foes or put it more euphemistically, declare war on your neighbours and send your armies against them. This translates to thousands of men at your command on the screen all at once clashing swords with enemy troops...

The true war game
Review of Medieval 2 - Total War (PC) by
aurelius
Advantages: Immense graphics and gameplay
Disadvantages: Requires a very fast computer
...The first game in the total war series brought a new age to strategy gaming. Shogun total war brought a new level of strategy gaming to the computer world. The graphics were shoddy and the game play was full of glitches but none the less it showed the world the true capability of computer programmers.
Several years later, and after thousands of technilogical advances, the total war team bring us this new far improved world. Medieval Total War 2 focuses on the european medieval world. An age full of war, fear and destruction. The likes of which have never been seen in a game. The game provides real insight into the medieval world with its astonishing graphics and attention to detail. The units are intelligent and respond well to orders in a sensible fasion, unlike some earlier games.
The UI players are far more tactically adept aswell...

4 games in 1
Review of Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms (PC) by
thewhitewolf
Advantages: excellent value, interesting campaigns
Disadvantages: takes up large amount of space, difficult for beginners
...As i have both the medieval total war I and II games and since this seemed like such a bargain at £12.99 i went down to the shops and brought the expansion pack to Medieval II: Total War which is superb.
It's a massive expansion with four new campaigns and will appeal especially to those you are diehard fans of medieval II.
These 4 campaigns are almost full games in and of themselves and they are Britannia, the Teutonic Knights, the Americas and the Crusades. They have their own soundbites, different units, music, movies and much else that make them unique from each other.
In the Crusades you can play as either the crusading nations or the Turks and Egyptians. Personally i like the turks best with their light, fast cavalry units that scythe up the opposition!
The miltary infrastructure of the specific regions are included so middle...

Revisiting the bloody Medieval Period
Review of Medieval 2 - Total War (PC) by
rustybrown0
Advantages: Hours of gameplay, improved strategy map
Disadvantages: In game bugs and flaws make you lose patience
...Those already familiar with Creative Assembly and their award winning trilogy of RTS dominating games: Shogun:Total War, Medieval: Total War & the critically acclaimed Rome:Total War, will not be dissapointed by this revisited time scale in history.
During the Medieval period, the world was experiencing ground breaking advancements in technology, sciences and empire building. With many kingdoms vying to stretch their borders to enviable distances, the stage is set for an inevitable showdown of the worlds largest and brutal armies pitting their strengths against one another.
The choice for Creative Assemly to revisit this era in particular, may have raise a few eyebrows for those who have already sampled Medieval: Total War. However, i assure you that you will be far from dissapointed by the level of content this game has...

Let's Get Medieval! (I Know, The Title Sucks)
Review of Medieval: Total War (PC) by
azizur
Advantages: An improvement over Shogun: Total War, and a good strategy game
Disadvantages: Some of the flaws of Shogun are here; not a massive improvement
...I loved the original Shogun: Total War. It's blend of resource management and battle strategy made it one of the most addictive games in my collection. So when I heard that they were going to make another Total War game, Medieval, I was quite excited, and bought the game the day it came out - an honour bestowed on few games in my collection.
For those of you not familiar with the Total War series (soon to become a trilogy with the imminent release of Rome: Total War, which I will review if I ever pull myself away from it), you control one of several factions in a certain historical period, and try to vanquish all other factions and claim every territory on the map for your faction. Shogun was set in 16th Century Japan, when several factions were vying to become Shogun of all Japan. Medieval: Total War is set in Medieval Europe between...
