Cabrera Medina
Advantages: excellent service, cheap prices
Disadvantages: left hand drive may be struggle for some!
...!
THINGS YOU WILL NEED TO HIRE A CAR
----------------------------------------------------------
You will usually have to be over 21 years old to hire a car on the Canary Islands. Some companies will expect you top have a clean license. My partner was lucky enough to have a clean license so we didn't get to find out if Cabrera Medina required clean licenses. You will need your full license and passport.
CABRERA MEDINA
---------------------------
Cabrera Medina is a hire car company based on the Canary Islands. The company was founded in 1967 by Mamerto Cabrera Medina on the Island of Lanzarote. The company started out with only six cars and was designed to cater for the developing tourist industry on the island. The Cabrera Medina logo (see photo 1) was designed by the famous artist Cesar Manrique.
Despite the company starting out...

Medina Grill, Norwich
Advantages: Great food, very nice waitresses, quiet
Disadvantages: pricing structure, loud music
...The Medina or "Med" as is plastered on the outside in neon lights is a quaint Morrocan restaurant on the Prince Of Wales Road in Norwich.
Every six or so months we have an 'old skool' night in which we try to get good food, good conversation (if you can call good conversation talking about partners, mortgages, work and life - a far cry from our college days - but I suppose we all have to grow up at some point!!) and a few drinks.
We try and go somewhere different each time. Last Friday was my turn to organise the meal. I walk past the "Med" every day and I have always been intrigued. I love a good steak so I thought a grill restaurant would probably be a good option.
When trying to book the restaurant I thought I would use the net to get the number. Confusion - I could not find the "Med" any where. I walked past it everyday yet...

Tourist shopping
Advantages: interesting to look around
Disadvantages: too touristy
...As I have mentioned before we escaped to Tunisia for a break this February I was convalescing after an operation. We stayed at Hammamet one of the places we visited was the Medina, Medina actually means old town. This Medina is next to the fort on the sea front easy to find
The medina is really a market contained within 15centuary walls lots of tiny shops very close together and a few houses too. The blue painted doorways in the white door surrounds are very attractive. These doors are often pictured on Hammamet post cards,
The area of the medina is not very large a few narrow streets. It was not very busy when we were there but it was only Feb not main holiday season. . The shopkeepers would mostly be standing idle in their doorways chatting to neighbours and trying to tempt us into see their wares. They would say come into my...

Diar le Medina, Yassmine Hammammet
Advantages: Everything at our hand.
Disadvantages: No elevator to apartments, but their are ground floor apartments.
...The complex of Diar le Medina is the biggest in Yassmine Hammammet. It has a hotel, apartments, restaurants, casino, shops & so much more. We stayed for one week in a two bed apartment.
It was a massive apartment with a seperate livingroom, kitchen/diner, a fully fitted bathroom and a shower room. It was cleaned everyday and everyday the staff made up your bed and put flowers on it. A very nice personal touch.
We went on a couple of the tours, we went on the African dream trip which was a visit to Friguia Park which is a zoo and still at the park in the evening we had a 3 course meal with tribal dancing and drums being played. It was a magical evening and a great finish to a perfect day.
We also went on the boat trip, which was aboard a Pirate Galleon. There was pirates on board which kept everyone entertained and a buffet style...

Executive Excellence.
Advantages: In between the city and beach, very clean, very friendly and helpful staff.
Disadvantages: Maybe slightly too far from city centre.
...The location of this hotel gives you the best of both worlds, a 20 minute tram ride from the centre of Melbourne and the beach with lots of restaurants and bars is a short 10 minutes walk away. There are restaurants outside Medina and having read a review we requested a room in the south tower, they accommodated us and we found this to be the quietest apartments we have stayed in ensuring we could get a good nights sleep. Although the view from our room wasn't anything to write home about.
The facilities in the apartment were excellent. The room was very clean with a daily maid service. The room included a fridge and freezer, dish washer, washing machine and tumble dryer, television which to my delight shown the fox sports channels meaning i could watch the premiership football, kettle, microwave and toaster. There was also...

Best place in Town
Advantages: Location, staff, location, rooms, LOCATION
Disadvantages: NONE !!!
...In March we stayed in the Medina Grand on the Harbourside (Darling Habour) for 4 nights. We booked the accommodation over the internet (lastminute.com.au). On first arrival the staff were very friendly and escorted us to our room.
The room (although not a sea view) was a one bedroom luxury apartment. (let's just say my wife fell in love with the room, and now wants the house decorated in the same style...)
The whole apartment was decorated in Italian furniture..
1. Lounge - Large TV, designer lights and mirrors. The room contained original pieces of art and was decorated in different colours of Brown.
Designer table and chairs (glass table with metal designed chairs)
2. Kitchen - State of the art kitchen, with oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge...... loads of kitchen utensils.
3. Bathroom - Huge. Marble bathroom...

Riyad Al Moussika : Amazing place
Advantages: Good central location, excellent service, food to die for, authenticity
Disadvantages: Difficult to book at the last moment
...We just returned from a 5 day holiday in Marrakech. Al Moussika was our base to explore the medina and for trips to the coast and to the Atlas mountains. The riyad is a carefully and tastefully restored historical building which offers a quiet retreat after a busy day in the pulsating city. There are only 6 bedrooms and many additional sitting rooms including a well stocked library and a room with a grand piano. The weather in january was too cold to use the pool in the beautiful courtyard but we thoroughly enjoyed to relax in the hamam. Breakfast is of very good quality and the lunches were among the best meals we had in Marrakech. The personel is competent and very helpful and offers a friendly, personalized service. Restaurants and Transportation are suggested on request and promtly organized. We highly recommend this riyad

Watch out for the snake-poo
Advantages: Very different to anything in Europe, but very close to the UK
Disadvantages: You have to haggle over everything
...Marrakech is an interesting city, so close to Europe and yet so different in many ways. The contrast is particularly evident in the Medina, the old walled city, where motorbikes, donkeys and carts and cars jostle for right of way on the narrow dirty streets. I have just returned from a few days staying in the Medina.
Getting There
We flew with Atlas Blue, from London Gatwick for a mid-afternoon arrival, although Easy jet also has a flight early in the morning.
Getting Around
We took a taxi to our hotel from the airport and agreed, perhaps a little too easily, on a price of 150DH (£12) it turned out not to be very far, in an old unsafe looking car with no air conditioning or seat belts. We were probably ripped off a little, although the return journey in a slightly safer car booked from the hotel was the same price.
Taxis...

Get your potteries here!
Advantages: Good potteries
Disadvantages: None
...Safi. We went to Safi to buy some potteries, since the city is known for its potteries. In the end we did not buy anything, apart from a couple of candlesticks since we were to carry it for 2 more weeks up in the mountains, but we can recommend this place for its potteries. The town is an industrial city and a port, although some of the factories seemed either shut down or in need of something more substantial than restructuring! You can visit the fortress and the usual medina, but, in the end, we would say that the main attraction of the town are its potteries. Some shops offered to ship any purchase to Europe, so you may want to take this possibility into consideration....

Hotel fourati
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Everything
...The Hotel would have been lovely when it first was built; it was originally a privately owned villa. But over the years it has got very shabby; it really needs lots of work to spruce it up again.
The staff were really very friendly and could not do enough for you, but the food each night was really the same thing, no variety, and not that good, and I can imagine that there will be long queues each night at the buffet in the summer. The bedrooms were not very clean and the towels and bedding threadbare.
The hotel has lots of different people staying, Russians, Germans, Slovakian and French there were only two other English couples when we were there.
The Medinas were a nightmare, hassle all the time, I have been to Turkey where you tend to get hassle , but Tunisia is a nightmare they just will not leave you alone, eventually...
