...The PNA350 is one of the latest products launched by the up and coming German company Medion. Unlike the previous dedicated navigators from Medion which were Windows Mobile Machine based (even though severely cut down) and the PDA with GPS products the range seems to be better products. The GPS signal receiver is great improvement over the past products especially over the 150/170 range which had horrendous mapping and gave dreadful instructions, especially the all hated Navigator 3.1D by Dutch company TeleAtlas. The maps are quite neat in this version even though bit and pieces are still missing, especially farms and isolated areas but considering the past products is a dramatic improvement. ...Medion. Has anyone heard of this brand? I recently popped into Aldi to find this very laptop. On the box was a plethora pictures, snazzy fonts and loads of information which begged 'buy me!'. And, er...I did. Inside was a vast array of accessories which was quite a bonus: 1x Medionmouse, 2x Long Life Batteries (about four hours each), TV (Freeview) card, laptop bag and of course the various adaptors and documentation. The laptop itself feels very well made; the top and bottom section is made from a dim aluminium and the rest is silver plastic with the exception of the little grille over the speakers. As you can see from the Ciao! website, this has an excellent specification and plenty of hard drive space with a healthy 1GB RAM, 256mb shared ATI graphics, a blazing 1.8Ghz Turion 64, 100+GB Hard Drive space and Windows Vista Home... ...(unsure if this is in the wrong catagory but its all I could find about Medion) Having moaned constantly for a new computer I was finally granted my wish as my poor old Time Computer finally went to computer heaven. I was looking around for the cheapest computer at the highest spec and I came across this Medion one. It was actually listed as a special offer by the supermarket chain "Aldi" for a measly £770 for the box, keyboard and mouse which I thought was not a bad deal. The Machine itself is a Pentium 4 (2.66ghz) whicb comes with a DVD drive and a CD-RW as standard although the one thing I noticed after buying the machine is, it has no floppy disk drive!. ...that by saying GPS systems I am actually saying "Global Positioning System systems", but simply saying "GPS" doesn't sound right in this context!) Aldi may not have an overly good reputation on the whole but they DO have a good reputation for their electrical goods. They are usually extremely good quality, have long guarantee's (usually 3 years) and are of course cheaper than you'd usually find them. Soopah! So there it was. ...that the site is so busy that I cannot gain access, so what I decided to do next was to try another route so I used the "ASK" search engine to find another link to the ULEAD and MEDION websites neither of which were much help. The Medion website sad that I sould contact the ULEAD site which I did and after sending my query to them I recieved an e mail 4 days later to tell me that as I bought my computer second hand and it did not come with the disk for Windows ME (although installed fully on my computer) I was told I would have to purchase a brand new Windows ME package in order for my camera to work (wasn't sure the camera was such a bargain after that). Although I can use the digital camera to take pictures in the room where my computer is situated any photographs or short films that I take of my family cannot be transferred onto my computer... This was a wonderful price, I thought, and so I shuffled to my local store to see about buying one. When I got there I found the item was marked as £99! I enquired to a youth who was apparently a salesman and he checked the website to see if what I had seen was a 'web exclusive' price. .... The interest on my credit card worked out cheaper than the interest Dixon’s were going to charge me and so on my credit card it went! The laptop that I bought is a Medion 2592. This is a make and model of Dixon’s own and so if you haven’t heard of it, I’m not surprised. I hadn’t either, until I found out about it from within the store.
