...I would just like to write a review on proposed meets, or rather one that I tried to organise that never really happened though. However, I accept that this may not be in the correct topic area of choice and so I would just like to apologise in the here and now before anyone has a go at me! You see, about two or three years I think that I had put on my 'about me' part of my home page about meeting up all of the way down here in sunny Plymouth. Never having arranged a meet before (but at the time seeing that some people were already writing reviews on those that they had either been to or organised); I thought that this would be the best way to do it. Everyone meets Joe Black

Advantages: A really pensive film
Disadvantages: Maybe a little too long

...Meet Joe Black is in my opinion a very strange film. It's rather long at nearly 3 hours in length yet the storyline is very simple. The way in which it is constructed however and because of the nature of the story itself makes the film a rather pensive one and so the 3 hour length gives the audience time to think and reflect on what the story is trying to tell you. The film begins with a chance meeting between Claire, a millionaire's daughter and a charming young man in a coffee shop. From the start there is definitely an air of romance within the air. Could this be the man her dad was always telling her to find. Unfortunately as the pair leave the coffee shop in opposite directions a car hits the young man. Review of Meet Joe Black (DVD)

Meet and Greet

Advantages: Lots of gags.
Disadvantages: Very little story and some average animation.

...-futuristic setting with Hammond organ and theremin (that weird spacy instrument often used in 50s' sci-fi), 50s' lounge motifs and 60s'-style spy themes. He's not above camping it up with B-movie horror brass and his trademark chimes get their chance too, reflecting the wistful ending. The other soundtrack choices don't fit as well. The new Rupert Wainwright 60s-infused pop is okay, but the schmaltzy indie rock and vocoder-heavy end credits theme jar with the rest of the film. "Meet the Robinsons" is a fun romp for kids that will no doubt keep them entertained throughout the running time. There are enough jokes to keep the adults amused too. However, the morals of the story are clumsy and you'll be hard pressed to remember much of the movie once the end credits have rolled. Girl meets Stripper

Advantages: interesting characters, chick lit
Disadvantages: Jennifer is slight weak as a character

Proposed East Anglian Ciao Meet.

Advantages: We get to meet some great people.
Disadvantages: Hope i live up to expectations lol.

Each has their own life but all are linked by their membership of Ciao. Could it be that these people should meet? ...It was around 4 years ago when my Finacee Jason (WormThatTurned) suggested going to a Ciao meet. I was still only a blue dot at the time and seemed to spend more time on Ciao putting my foot in it then 'making friends' so we decided against it. Four years on though and whilst I am still only a rubbish shade of purple I seem to have got more into the community side of Ciao and talk to quite a few members outside of Ciao. It was the beginning of July when I first heard that Lizzie (Lizkempo) was planning a London meet. I quickly sent messages to all of my 'online friends' asking if they were going and in some cases I went as far as begging them to go (you know who you are!). Meet the Parents

Advantages: Strong lead actors, Funny enough to justify itself
Disadvantages: Unoriginal, Cliched at times

...Ben Stiller has a dilemma if he wants to be taken seriously. He seems to be typecast nowadays, as the "nice guy who never seems to have things his way" and always has a situation with a girl, or as a novelty character. Meet the parents shows similarities to "Theres Something about Mary", but doesn't quite match it. The story simply being, Greg (Stiller) must impress his Girlfriends parents in order to gain their approval and earn her hand in marriage. Robert DeNiro puts in a decent performance as the excessively paranoid father-in-law-to-be, and his exchanges with Stiller are the main points in the film. Its a fun romp, that reels off the cringe-worthy moments and social faux pas by the bucket load.
