Memorex-cellent value 12x CD writer
Advantages: Cheap and comparable to the more expensive Plextor
Disadvantages: Easy CD is maybe not as good as WinOnCD and support is vague
...Are you fed up waiting for that dodgy copy of you mates cd to burn? Tired of watching how slow your pathetic, unbadged, 2 speed cdwriter spits out those copies? Or maybe you're lukcy, and have a 4 speed cdwriter. Maybe even an 8 speed one. Now that's not bad now, is it - what is that, around 10 mins a cd? That's not bad.
Now consider what it would be like to burn cd's in around 6 minutes. Now I'm not trying to be like that serial murderer blokey out of There's Something About Mary - you know, the one who goes on about his idea for the "8 minute abs video", only to be told "What if someone comes out with '7 minute abs'?" - cos I know that you're going to tell me there are faster drive around, before you say it! ;-)
The drive I am writing this opinion about is the Memorex TwelveMaxx 1032. It is a 12 speed CD writer drive, which is...

Memorex the best.
Advantages: Good quality recording with excellent results
Disadvantages: None. Perhaps being a brand name makes them more expensive?
...With writeable CD's offering so much choice in today's market, you can afford to be a bit choosy when buying the media you want. Nearly every company that once offered audio tapes now offers a range of recordable CD's. However, it does not stop there.
Most technology companies that make Computer hardware have taken it on themselves to offer recordable CD's too.
But they are all different standards with some more suitable to certain tasks than others.
One of the better writeable CD manufacturers on the market today are Memorex.
Let me tell you about Memorex CD's.
Firstly, they offer an entire range of recordable media. First off are its CD-R's which are "one shot wonders". This means they can be recorded on once only. If it goes wrong during the recording process, the Disc is lost.
Next up are their CD-RW which are...

Memorex Trimaxx200 DVD-CDRW
Advantages: Well price multi system
Disadvantages: Need a good graphic card with TV output
...Hi all,
I would like to tell you about a fantastic product that really is Plug-&-Play, it's a CD Player - CD read/writer and a DVD Player all rolled into one. The Memorex Trimaxx 200 is a mid range product in the DVD/CD range and although the price may be fairly extravagant for some at a little over £200.00, I believe it was well worth it.The write capabilities are great at 6x because anything other than standard data just won't transfer safely above a 2x speed, and as for read i reckon 24x is more than fast enough for anything the software merchants throw at us, add to that the DVD playing side of things and you can't miss. I've watched quite a few films via this player with no problem whatsoever, and what's more i can watch the film s via my computer if i so desire. the only let down really was that i had to purchase a better...

An excellent writer
Advantages: efficient, affordable
Disadvantages: slow re-write speed
...Memorex have a reputation for quality and this shines through with their CD writer / re-writer the 4420. Purchased just over a year ago as a solution to my back-up requirements and for the production of CD Catalogues for clients this piece of hardware has been invaluable.
It is both fast and efficient. 32X4X2 are its speeds. The only drawback is that the re-write is a little slow and the disks take an age to format but once formatted shouldn't need doing again.
I have not yet encountered any problems with reading or writing even on budget priced media. The drive stands up well to all other use. It plays audio CD's without problem and runs software, again without error.
The product came bundled with Adaptec Easy CD Creator, Direct CD, MGI PhotoSuite and Take 2 (a back-up program).
Priced at £129 when I bought it I think it is...

Memorex, oh yes
Advantages: Reliable
Disadvantages: I could have brought them cheaper elsewhere
...I was looking for some CDR's to back up my hard drive now its full of important work. I went down to my local computer shop where they stocked a variety of brands. Chocie is important but not when your in a hurry so I decided to pick a brand I was familar with. I have heard of Memorex before and have purchase VHS' from them before and they worked fine. Going on previous expirences of memorex products I thought they would be O.K.
I brought the pack of CDR's for £19.99 for a pack of 25 which I thought was quite reasonable until I was told about online stores doing them for cheaper. The CDR's come on a spindel which is useful to keep the dust off them. Each CDR can hold 700mbs of data and 80 minutes of music. The spidel says that you can record up to 24x speed by my writer only does 4x. The spidel is made of black plastic and is pretty...

CD-RW in style
Advantages: Looks great
Disadvantages: Looks too good for the rest of my stuff
...OK, OK, there are faster CD-RW out there and of course there are now DVD-R that give you that extra bit of storage but this little beauty is just what the doctor ordered.
TDK have managed to deliver a great package here both with hardware and the software supplied. They have released faster versions which will please all you speed freaks out there, but with a limited budget and not wanting something so flashy it even makes me a cup of tea in the morning, I settled for this model.
Inside the Box...
After emptying the contents of the box like a child at Christmas, I was faced with a good looking drive that does look a bit more than the standard cream coloured CD-RW drives out there, with a transparent blue tray popping out with a press of the eject button and the smooth lines of the front panel, this drive just looks great in my...

Some Extra Cheap Storage Space On CD-RW's
Advantages: Re-Writable CD, 74min record time, 650MB storage
Disadvantages: Small storage compared to Re-Writable DVD's
...The Imation CD-RW 650 MB 24x discs are an excellent way to back up or store data at home or at work. I know it's not much storage compared to DVD-RW's but these still come in use as I still use them sometimes myself. As sometimes you don't need 4.7GB that a DVD can hold.
Imation CD-RW rewritable discs have an increased recording speed of 24x and noise free play for a wide range of applications. Even though the CD-RW format requires speed compatible disc burners for recording, the discs can be used in standard CD-R/RW drives as well as Multi-read CD-R/CD-ROM, DVD-ROM and rewritable DVD drives. This is very useful as you may have a drive which can handle more speed which shouldn't have a compatibility issue.
Main features and functions:
- Storage media type CD-RW
- 10 discs
- 650 MB storage
- 74min recording time
- Write...

IOMEGA CD-RW 48x24x48 - Sleek,Black,Goes Whirrr!
Advantages: Quality Build, No messing inside your PC, Bundled Software
Disadvantages: Maybe a bit pricey.
...Having only a 52xCD rom in my rather dull (but quite adequate) IBM workstation I was missing the ability to burn cd?s backing up data important data that I could with previous machines.
Not fancying taking the lid of, and removing fiddly blanking plates - scraping skin off my thumbs, I decided upon the external USB approach, since like most, the PC is equipped with a fast USB2.0 interface.
The Iomega CD-RW 48x24x48x USB 2.0 drive appeared to be a good choice, Iomega being a well trusted and reliable manufacturer. I paid around £60 , but you may find it cheaper if you shop around. I did come across lesser brands with a similar spec at lower prices, but I felt they would lack the quality.
Upon opening, I was presented with a very solid piece of kit in a jet black finish. The box also contained a suitable USB cable, a figure...

Memorex CDR 80. Simply the best.
Advantages: Good quality recording, low failure rate, cheap
Disadvantages: No boxes
...No one is going to turn down the chance of a free collection of MP3s are they?
Not if they are sound of mind or like the tunes on the little silver disc.
So when it comes to getting those lovely little tunes from your home PC (or work for that matter) into a format that you can play on your hi-fi, you need a good CD.
I have experimented for about 18 months with different brands and have now come up with a winner.
The winning product?
Memorex CD-R80.
Why?
Well, I have tried them all, (Sony, Kodak, Verbatim,PC World Own Brand) and this one beats them all hands down.
Firstly, Their size.
The ones I use , The CD-R80 are 80 minutes of pure uncompressed Music. Thats nearly 13 hours of MP3s!!!
Normally, the 74 minute CDs are long enough for your needs but you will find more and more record companies...
