What to write on a cd-r?

Advantages: Cheap, Comes wrapped and with cases, and er... nice colour discs
Disadvantages: None really

...'t 'go over' the information to use again. If you want to use discs multiple times then you need CD-RW discs which allow this. However, with CD-RW's, lots of older CD players, and lots of new ones don't support the playback of them, so that's why I find CD-R's better for audio CD's. Packaging? As you can see from the picture, the box that they come in is a red swirl on the left with a blue section on the right. It has Maxell written in large at the top and CD-R 80 XL-S 700mb in the middle of the box. At the bottom right is the top left corner of one of the discs, with a little box next to it saying 48x. Also on the box is a white/silver and blue water effect ripple thingy ma bobby. Cases? The cases of the CD's have lots of small writing on the front, it doesn't look very attractive but I guess they thing people will print their own...

Memorex the best.

Advantages: Good quality recording with excellent results
Disadvantages: None. Perhaps being a brand name makes them more expensive?

...With writeable CD's offering so much choice in today's market, you can afford to be a bit choosy when buying the media you want. Nearly every company that once offered audio tapes now offers a range of recordable CD's. However, it does not stop there. Most technology companies that make Computer hardware have taken it on themselves to offer recordable CD's too. But they are all different standards with some more suitable to certain tasks than others. One of the better writeable CD manufacturers on the market today are Memorex. Let me tell you about Memorex CD's. Firstly, they offer an entire range of recordable media. First off are its CD-R's which are "one shot wonders". This means they can be recorded on once only. If it goes wrong during the recording process, the Disc is lost. Next up are their CD-RW which are...

Memorex, oh yes

Advantages: Reliable
Disadvantages: I could have brought them cheaper elsewhere

...I was looking for some CDR's to back up my hard drive now its full of important work. I went down to my local computer shop where they stocked a variety of brands. Chocie is important but not when your in a hurry so I decided to pick a brand I was familar with. I have heard of Memorex before and have purchase VHS' from them before and they worked fine. Going on previous expirences of memorex products I thought they would be O.K. I brought the pack of CDR's for £19.99 for a pack of 25 which I thought was quite reasonable until I was told about online stores doing them for cheaper. The CDR's come on a spindel which is useful to keep the dust off them. Each CDR can hold 700mbs of data and 80 minutes of music. The spidel says that you can record up to 24x speed by my writer only does 4x. The spidel is made of black plastic and is pretty...

The spooky advertising worked on me

Advantages: Cheap, reliable, brand name
Disadvantages: None so far

..., primarily to archive the huge amount of photographs sitting on the two hard disks inside the PC. The good thing about cakeboxes is that you don't have to peel off celephane wrappings off the disks to get to them - a boon when you are rushed to make a quick copy. In fact the packaging can be described as minimal, I like to think I'm helping the planet too. These are 700Mb disks, capable of writing at up to 48x speed. Whilst I have a 52x writer, 48x is absolutely fine. If you have a slower speed drive, you can still use these disks up to it's maximum recording speed. 700Mb should be enough to store several hundred photographs or other files (depending on their filesize obviously). If you are recording music for play on a non-MP3 player, you can store up to 80 minutes worth. The writable side of the disks are of the green dye variety. The top...

It's only storage

Advantages: Cheap enough, Sony Brand
Disadvantages: Unreliable on some writers

...As well as using Verbatim CDR disks, which I reviewed recently, I've also been using Sony. Th specific product is 10CDQ8ON, which is a box of 10 700Mb, 48x CDR disks. As usual, they come in a cardboard box, and each one has a full sized CD-jewel case to protect the CDR inside. Each case is shrink-wrapped in plastic, to prevent scratching of the case, and dust from getting into the product. As with most shrink wrapped products, a quick entry system is included, which generally allows you to get into the contents quickly enough. The cases are good quality clear plastic, including the inlay. The front cover of each disk is a green colour, with the Sony logo, and CD-r in large letters, as well as siez 700Mb / 80Min. The reverse of this is a white are to write the title of the disk, date etc. The front also has a small circular cut...

THE PERFECT COPIER.

Advantages: PERFECT COPIES EVERY TIME.
Disadvantages: NONE AS YET.

...smooth and fast to copy. LASTING SAFEGUARDS To protect the data that you put onto a CD, Verbatim have a special coating called a dual protection layer. I'm not a techie and have no idea of the make-up of this coating, though I do know that I can rely on my copies, seemingly no matter how old they are. Verbatim say on their site that they are so confident in their product that they give a lifetime guarantee. I have never needed to ask for help from Verbatim although I notice that they do have a "Contact" email on their site, which is a good sign that they are not afraid of people asking questions. Not re-writeable. One word of warning I would give here is that these discs are not re-writeable discs, which is not a disadvantage over the re-writeable ones. When I put music onto disc for example, I want that 700MB of music to stay...

Another Day, Another CD-R

Advantages: Flawless, huge capacity
Disadvantages: None thus far

...I'm a bit confused. The picture on Ciao shows the CDR74, 650MB of this product but the description is that of the 700MB, CDR80 version. For the purpose of this review I'll go with Ciao's description - which is lucky because that's the one I own! I've recently completed a TDK CD-R review but when I saw that this alternative TDK product was listed on Ciao, I felt compelled to review this too. I know, I need to get out more, but my wife and daughter are at Ikea and my son is in his room playing with his Thomas The Tank Engine tracks and trucks, so what the hell? Anyway, I'm working on my bedroom tan....... The ins and outs of CD-Rs appears in my previous review so I won't bore you with all that again. I'll just review the product this time. PRODUCT SPEC "TDK Certified Plus 700MB/80-minute write-once CD-Rs offer high...

The Need For Speed

Advantages: Cheap & Very Reliable, Fast Speed
Disadvantages: None

...with Memorex CD-R discs. They are 700MB or 80 Mins standard single layer discs and are 52x in speed. One of the fastest speeds on the market. Most modern recorders support this speed however some are slower. The discs still work with a slower burner but are limited in write speed to the recorder being used. They come in packs of 25, 50 & 100 discs in a cake layer box. I personally pay £6 for a box of 100 and consider them a good price for what they are. Other more expensive manufacturers may provide you with a jewel case. My experiences with them are as follows: I use them regularly for reading and writing. The data I store on the discs are applications, Photos, Mp3/Music, Video and documents. I have tested them in Pioneer, LG, Sony and Liteon Burners using Nero Burning Rom as my choice of burning software. I have never experienced any...

Burn baby burn !!!

Advantages: Good, cheap
Disadvantages: Nothing

...the specifications are on the cover to these brutes. Altogether 50 are the brutes in the number pronged on a gray holder of sculpture in this spindle. It still has to be mentioned for all fans of the disposal that this spindle which is wrapped up into plastic foil has the green point and therefore has to be disposed without problems into the yellow bag. ? data ? - 50 piece - writeable silver - one floor capacity compatibly x-Cd Recordable - silverly coats 700 MB of capacity - 80 minutes - up to 48 x ? storing data ? These brutes are in a silver color and therefore make a good impression visually, the surface seems very robust and is also pleasant to describe with an Edding. The surface of the brutes makes an extremely good and stable impression, whole unlike unprinted cheap brutes. Of course the name of the manufacturer and also...

A boring review on CD-R80 discs!!!

Advantages: se op
Disadvantages: see op

...sunlight. The discs can be cleaned, as with other disccs, using a clean, dry soft cloth. Do not attach anything to the data side of the discs as this will cause damage. If labelling is necessary, it is advised that water resistat felt pens are used to write on the label side only!! Biros and other sharp nibbed pend will cause irrepairable damage to your discs and therefore will stop the data being retrieved! TDK Plus CD-R discs are compatible with all types and speeds of CD-R writing systems and are playback compatible with all CD-ROM drives and audio CD players. Plus CD-R discs are also playable on DVD-ROM drives. The recording length is 80 minutes with 700MB of storage. I actually bought ten of these discs from PC World for around £10.00. Staples had them for pretty much the same price. I have looked on Kelkoo.co.uk and have found...
