PS3 slim

Advantages: Blu-ray, free online, nice extras like vidzone & iplayer. Almost silent operation
Disadvantages: Rubbish controller, still expensive, online nowhere near as good as xbox live

...Well, had the slim for a few weeks now (my 1st ever playstation), personally, I'm a little underwhelmed by it, I've been a gamer since the nintendo game & watch days & owned @ least 1 of the current gen consoles since the Mega Drive(Genesis). Graphically the system has the potential to wipe the floor with the 360, but this is really only going to apply to PS3 exclusives as any software house making a multi-platform game is going to be as cost effective (lazy) as possible & use the same graphics on all the games where possible(ok, they need to dumb them down for the Wii). My problem here is that I have yet to get a game for it that runs in 1080P, they all seem to be in 720P! Why???? I'm sure they are out there, but I haven't found one yet. I guess this is down to most HD tv's being HD ready rather than Full HD. Sound-Yeah, ok...

Memorex the best.

Advantages: Good quality recording with excellent results
Disadvantages: None. Perhaps being a brand name makes them more expensive?

...a tape wearing out. Memorex go on and on forever. Quantities are varied to suit you pocket. Memorex tend to offer you the range of products in 3 forms. Spindle, Slimline and Standard. While the CD's inside the packets tend to be the same, the packagain differs. Firstly is the spindle. This is often the cheapest way to by Memorex CD's but also the least safe. The CD's come on a ling spindle without individual cases and stuck one on top of th eother. This means they are more likely to be left lying around and getting scratched. But, without the cost of cases, the price is much lower. Spindles normally carry 25 or 50 CDs. Next up is the slimline. This relates to the cases the CD comes in. A box of 10 is the traditional way to buy but also available individually. These are very thin. Not much thicker than a CD and very flimsy. Safer...

Great US Crime Drama (Cold Case)

Advantages: Different from other US crime dramas
Disadvantages: None

...I'm a bit of a US crime drama addict, I love watching CSI, Bones, and most recently Cold Case. Cold Case started in 2003 some its a bit of a late find for me, but thanks to good old sky repeating everything about a million times so I am slowly catching up on the missed episodes. Basically Cold Case is all bout cases that have never been solved (they went cold), some of these could be 50 years old and some could be a few years old, they all tend to be a bout either missing people or murder. The team (mainly Lilly Rush, Scotty Valens, Lt. John Stillman, Will Jeffries & Nick Vera) open the old case files (usually a family member remembers something important or a new bit of evidence comes to light) and start re interviewing the old suspects and witnesses etc, this usually stirs up old feelings amongst the various parties involved...

Although not one of the brands I would have picked initially by choice, I have bought several more boxes of these disks and have found them to be consistently good. When I received a DVD writer for my birthday last year, my wife thoughtfully supplied a spindle of ten Benq DVDs. After successfully creating three coasters (disks that did not burn correctly), it became apparent that my DVD writer was not going to recognise these disks. As with all presents, I really, really wanted to try out my new burner and so I rushed off to WH Smith and bought a box of the only DVD+Rs they had; a box of 5 jewel-cased Memorex disks for the recently reduced price of £5.99. Being one of these people who like to try all the functions of their computer hardware, I was eager to test the -R burning format on my new DVD writer so whilst buying new DVD+R disks, I picked up a set of -Rs to match. Sadly I have not found the DVD-R format to match up to the standard set by the Memorex DVD+Rs and I have had several failed burns.
