512mb memory unit - too small?

Advantages: SMall and easy to take around with you and for storing game saves
Disadvantages: Expensive and a hard drive would be far more beneficial

...If you purchase the xbox arcade console then you will get one of these 512mb memory units free with the console. However if you opt to go for either the premium console or the elite console you will get the main hard drive for free and will have less need for these. These small memory units are both advantageous as they are small and compact and suitable for certain tings. However they are on the other hand quite pathetic compared to the 20gb or 120gb hard drives which are also available on the market. I currently own both a 20gb hard drive and one of these 512mb memory units as well. My last computer used unbranded memory, and I feel this caused compatability issues with components I installed. I decided to opt for GEIL memory this time, and have installed two 512mb sticks giving me 1024mb of random access mem. Im running the mem with an AMD 64bit 3000 939Winchester processor and an ABIt AV8 mobo and have had no compatability issues. The hardware analysis software SISoft Sandra 2005 informs me that its currently running 1gb memory, which is acceptable. Ive run prime95 on it for 24hours including tests such as 2500 lucas Lehmer iterations and the mem is stable. It remains stable when moderatly overclocking...

Sandisk 512Mb memory card

Advantages: Small, reliable

...So the SanDisk SD flash memory card 512MB. Well as a start like most memory cards these days , its nice and small ( perfect for getting lost if your not careful). Despite its size its nice and long lasting ( well mines still alive anyway..or it was the last time i used it) you get a ncie handy case, you know incase you like accidently sit on it or something. So 512MB , its a pretty good amount of memory for camera use , but if you really do like to get out there and basicly film your entire life, you\'d probably be better off with more memory, i recomend the 1gb or 2gb sandisk memory card. So what a lovely shade of blue, hmm, yes its a bit boring compared to other memory cards, but what do you expect, half the time you cant see it anyway because its inside a device. I found that the card can be read and written really fast...

Victorinox Swissbit USB flash drive - 512 MB

Advantages: Durable and Well built. Nice Design.
Disadvantages: Doesn't have any Swiss Army Knife accessories

...with USB 1.1 ports but it doesn't work with those in my keyboard. The transfer of data is as fast as any other flash drive I have used. The drive comes preloaded with security software to prevent unauthorised access to your data although this only seems to be compatible with Windows machines. Overall this a decent USB stick that works well and is a more attractive design than most. It feels very durable and well put together. 512MB isn't a huge amount of memory these days so I would recommend going for at least the 1GB model. Some people may prefer Victorinox's other USB Swiss Army Knives which have the usual knife and accessories in addition to the USB stick. However, for transporting data, especially on planes, this device may be the sensible option....

I would typically recommend anyone wanting a computer for desktop and light gaming use to have 512Mb. This will stop the hard disk being accessed so quickly into your session. For someone using a computer for heavy gaming, i.e. wanting to play the next generation of games(Half Life 2, Doom 3) I would say get 1Gb(1024MB) of memory. This gives you plenty of space to run windows and play the game with the bulk of it held in RAM and as such being faster, no frame skipping etc. As for the actual speed of RAM.
