Elvis's Heart Break Hotel During our week stay, we resided in the famous Heartbreak hotel, where Elvis movies are played 24 hours a day, Elvis gift shops are abundant and the pool was heart shaped! The hotel is directly opposite Elvis's home, Gracelands and is owned by the Elvis estate. We stayed in a room that was adjoined to another and it was huge! There was a living room, with desk, television, sofas, telephone, a kitchenette with fridge, sink, tea making facilities and microwave, followed through into a double en-suite bedroom with another television, plenty of space for clothing and belongings and the bathroom. Review of Memphis

Graceland, the best part of Memphis.

Advantages: For an Elvis fan, it is the ultimate experience.
Disadvantages: It is not in the city.

Memphis is a really large city and there are many wonderful hotels, shops, departmental stores, restaurants, and anything your heart desires. We did all the tourist things. The Peabody Hotel, Sun Records, the museum where Elvis has his first recording equipment. We did Beale Street in the evening. Went into B.B. King's place. We even saw the motel where Martin Luther King Junior was shot. Yes, there is so much to do in Memphis, but I wanted to write my tribute to the King of Rock'n'Roll. I urge anyone that is an Elvis fan to take a trip of a lifetime. You won't be disappointed. Susie, who plays Elvis music on her organ, and listens to him in the car. Marti's Memphis Revisited

Advantages: brilliant sound to it, I Don;t Know Why
Disadvantages: some mediocre songs esprciall "It's All About"

...I am not afraid to admit I like Marti Pellow. I think he has a fabulous soulful voice. However I get frustrated with some of the material he has recorded both in his solo career and with the Wets. He has done a lot of MOR, sickly sweet ballads. However when Marti is on full form such as on "Hard To Cry", the highlight of his debut album and more recently "Walking On Water" from the Wet's newest Greatest Hits CD, or even his version of "Heaven Help us All" from his original Memphis Sessions way back in 1986 he is hard to beat. His voice is powerful, soulful and just sends shivers down my spine. When I heard he was releasing the album he has always dreamed of recording backed with a stunning live performance on Jonathan Ross's Saturday morning radio show I decided to buy the album "Moonlight Over Memphis". ...Flowing fresh out of the oven with his fourth solo effort, Memphis Bleek's new album, 534, is blessed by one of the sweetest songs of the summer with the help of Jay-Z. "Dear Summer" has become an anthem, yet the album fails to follow through with the single, which comes at an early third on the track list. While the album is not groundbreaking or terribly concentrated, it is a complete and valid project. With "Dear Summer," Jay drops in to lay a lyrical lick and some acappella poetry to set off the perfect joint for a ride around the neighborhood. Just Blaze drops a dope beat to add to the harmonic soulful sample. While the album does read Memphis Bleek, he's an absentee landlord on "Dear Summer." Jay takes his time on the track to show love to the game for his fame and reminds us that S.Dot is doing his thing in Corporate America...

...The Peabody hotel is found at 149 Union Ave, Memphis, Tennessee (TN 38103) in the USA which is right in the heart of Memphis just a short walk from the Gibson factory, Beale street and the famous , ? Rendezvous? rib restaurant where Elvis had ribs sent from to where ever he was in the USA. Those of you who have read my previous reviews will know that we went to the USA in May 2009 with my daughter and her partner and we visited Memphis mainly to see Graceland but I was also very keen to see the famous Peabody ducks if we had time. If you have missed hearing about this quirky attraction then I urge you to visit YouTube and search for the Peabody ducks and you will see what I mean. My review is specifically about this attraction at the hotel as we did not stay at the hotel. We did however sample quite a few drinks whilst waiting...

...There are many places to visit in Memphis,Tennessee. One place is the Collesium. The Collesium is where the Memphis River Kings use to play hockey. It is also where the Beatles and Elvis played a concert. A circus goes there every year. There is the Pyramid witch is home of the Memphis Tigers ( a college basketball team). The Harlem Globe Trotters played in the pyramid. There is the Liberty Bowl witch is home for the Memphis Tigers (a college football team) and XFL (Xtreme Football League) Memphis. The Tennessee Oilers use to play there. Also the Memphis Mad Dogs ( a Candain Football League team). The Liberty Bowl also has soccer teams play there. There is Graceland (Elvis Presley's)home. There is Bill Street where there are a lot of restaurants, Blue's Clubs, and more. It is the streeet of the Blues....

Belae Street in Memphis

Advantages: An all night affair that is free to stroll up and down as long as you like, it never closes.
Disadvantages: Sometimes on special holidays or set days in Memphis, the street becomes very crowded, so you may not want small kids with you past sunset.

...In Memphis, located on one of the borders of Downtown, is Beale Street. So, if you are planning a weekend of party and fun, this is the place. Hotels are located all around and there is also a trolley to get you to places that driving may create parking problems. I find that Beale Street is more than just a street, it is a mall, a festival, an outisde bar-b-que, and even an amusement center for kids. On Beale Street, you can start at the east end and walk down towards the west end, which is maybe a 1/2 mile from the Mississippi River. Located on Beale Street, you will find different tattoo parlors, boutiques, many eat-in shops, artists waiting to draw your picture, with your chosen background, photographers taking pictures, magician doing card tricks for the kids, all types of vendors selling Elvis apparel, B.B. King apparel...

I've been to Graceland

Advantages: See where Elvis lived and lots of Elvis memorabilia
Disadvantages: souvenirs too expensive and food on site pricey too

Two reservations for the Graceland Platinum Tour, which includes an audio-guided tour of Graceland Mansion and grounds, and a self-guided tour of Elvis's two custom airplanes, Elvis's Automobile Museum, Private Presley and the Sincerely Elvis Museum. ...Having been born and raised to Elvis' music, visiting Memphis has always been a dream of mine. My husband and I visited in October 2007. Finding a budget hotel is quite easy if you are happy to catch a bus, taxi or walk in to the entertainment hub of Mempis' Beale St. We stayed at the Red Roof Inn on Camilla St and Union Ave. Do not be fooled by the address. Although Union Ave does join the main streets in Memphis, the Red Roof is about 1.5 miles up Union Avenue, a good walk from Beale St. A taxi will cost approx $5 though, so don't be dis-heartened. The hotel itself had more of a motel feel to it. The rooms were clean and maintained well by the excellent housekeeping staff. The lobby was immaculate and the day staff were friendly (although the night staff were not!). Complimentary breakfast is served in the lobby area from 6-9am...

...Morphy Richards Red Memphis Traditional Kettle Next (The clothes shop) had a sale online and offline recently. Mum needed a new kettle, I being the generous daughter that I am offered to buy her one. So, as I was browsing through the Next sale online store I noticed a Red Morphy Richards Kettle 50% off. "Oh that one will do" said mum. "I'm sure it will!" I said under my sarcastic breath. A couple clicks later and £20 out of my bank account and the kettles is on its way to our house. ...Style... The kettle in my opinion looks modern, contemporary. The colour 'red' definitely makes a statement. Eye catching. I like the style but perhaps that is because I like things that are unique and different to the norm (what is normal?). You don't actually see many people with a red kettle in their kitchen do you? Okay I'm waiting...
